It's a family run business. Brian Kim is the owner/broker and Joseph and Christine are husband/wife. In addition, Brian is Christine's uncle. Basically, Joseph lands the deal and Christine takes over with showing clients properties and doing paperwork.
Facts that will prove them to be EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL AND UNRELIABLE:
-Christine was NEVER on time for appointments.
-Neither Joseph or Christine were reachable when we needed to contact them. No return calls or text messages for several days. However, when we left a message to Joseph to refer a friend for possible new business opportunity, he called back immediately.
- We had to constantly remind them to meet critical deadlines throughout the whole escrow process, not the other way around. Our level of frustration and stress to work with them was incredibly high.
-Escrow company kept calling me instead of them because escrow company was not able to reach them and process documents in timely manner, thus I had to get involved directly with escrow company to complete some procedures on behalf of irresponsible Christine and Joseph. I had to do the work for what they were getting commission.
-Joseph demanded a $450 "transaction fee" at the beginning of our business together, which I later learned that this fee is observed by realtor, hence client should never be the one paying for it.
-Christine failed to offer a walk-through for the new house we purchased. We had to ask for it. By then, we were so fed up with her unprofessional work ethics that we brought our frustration up to Joseph, and when Christine showed up to meet with us on the walk-through day she completely ignored our presence, did not respond to our answers and demonstrated a disrespectful attitude. As paying customers, we are entitled to good service and rights to complain.
-Christine said rent back amount is not negotiable hence we, as seller, would have to pay buyer's entire monthly mortgage. We ended up paying over $3000, but later we learned that rent back amount is very much negotiable, indeed, and it is the realtor's responsibility to work in the client's financial advantage.
-Christine had told us that we would get prorrated credit from rent back we prepaid if we ended up moving out early. We did move out three days earlier than meeting the 30 days mark, however she never reached out to the buyer's realtor nor defended us to get our money difference.
-Christine failed to arrange a key transfer from us to the buyer. The buyer directly contacted me to receive the house key and I had to schedule that meeting. Several days later when we let her know that we had to give the key to the new owner ourselves, Christine's answer was "Oh, that's good."
-Christine made a calculation error and agreed to issue us a refund check in "X" amount but kept delaying it for 2 months! She said that she would directly bring the check to us in person, then mail it to us, then she said she would leave it at their office front desk without telling us when we can pick it up. We kept reminding and urged numerous times and she assured to give it back each time, but passed 8pm a few days after the escrow closing, Christine sent a really disrespectful and nearly threatening text message to my family member saying "Don't bother me and my husband anymore! We only owe you "Y" amount and that's all you are going to get!"
-The property I purchased is HOA governed, so it was Christine's responsibility to do her underlying research about the house with the HOA during the escrow process, but she failed to do so. The previous owner was responsible for dealing with an HOA involved plumbing situation for the property I purchased, but this important fact was never disclosed and when we moved in the problem just fell on our lap. When we contacted Christine, obviously, she never followed through with it and a year after the property was sold we are still dealing with this head ache to this day.
-Christine offered to contact home insurance company to get us coverage, so I let her, but escrow company kept calling me days after days urging me to get home insurance. I had to do it myself eventually, and in the course of enrolling for home insurance I discovered that previous owner had a plumbing claim opened for $7000 pay out which this info was never disclosed. It is a major violation of regulation as all repairs have to get disclosed to buyer. When this issue brought up to Christine, she never followed through with the seller's realtor to provide us with even basic info as to what repair and where it was done.
-I called the local board for realtors to report their unprofessional and unethical behavior. I said I wanted to report Remax Diamond and the response from the receptionist was "You mean Brian Kim? I'm sorry." She blurted it out very automatically, which confirmed that so many people have already called to report this horribly unacceptable service by employees of Remax Diamond.
