AB General Remodeling and Painting Services - Basement Remodeling Completed

We had an amazing experience with A.B. Contracting, and I can't recommend Chris and his team…read moreenough. We were remodeling our basement and got several quotes, but Chris immediately stood out with a fair, reasonable price and a thoughtful approach that made us feel comfortable right from the start. What really set Chris apart was how involved he was before the work even began--and all the way through the project. He offered great design and layout suggestions we honestly wouldn't have thought of on our own, from flooring choices to lighting to small details that made a big difference. He also helped design the space so it functions like three different rooms while still feeling like one connected, open area, which completely changed how we use it. His team was on time, professional, and incredibly respectful. They put down protective matting as they went in and out of the basement, swept the floors daily, cleaned up debris as they worked, and treated our home with real care. They even took their shoes off before coming inside. It genuinely felt like they were remodeling their own home, not just doing a job. The crew truly felt like family, and the before-and-after transformation of our basement is incredible. There were also a lot of thoughtful touches that really stood out. On days when we weren't home, Chris and his team would bring our garbage cans up near the house on collection day, which was completely unexpected and very appreciated. Even after the basement was finished, they helped move furniture and larger items downstairs, which felt truly above and beyond. Our dog even loved them--and he's a pretty good judge of character. Throughout the entire process, they were consistently kind, considerate, and easy to have around. One highlight that still amazes me: Chris and his team stained the basement stairs to perfectly match our first-floor stairs. I honestly didn't think it could be done, but they took their time and absolutely nailed it. The drywall and framing work were done beautifully, and what really stood out was that Chris came back later to check on everything and make small touch-ups, just to be sure the work held up. That level of pride and follow-through is rare. They painted the ceiling black and were meticulous--no missed spots, no shortcuts. Everything was done with care. We agreed on a timeline, and they started when they said they would, finished on time, and left the space spotless when the job was done. To make things even easier, we simply picked out samples from Home Depot, and Chris and his team handled all the materials. The entire process was smooth and stress-free. All we had to do was make one call, do a little planning, and enjoy our new basement one to two weeks later. And honestly, our basement is now one of our favorite parts of the house. It's peaceful, quiet, and truly enjoyable. What we expected to be just a more functional space turned into a place we actually love spending time in. The whole experience felt exciting--almost like Christmas morning--watching it come together. The results completely exceeded our expectations. We're really happy we chose Chris and his team for this project. The experience was smooth from start to finish, the quality of the work speaks for itself, and we'd absolutely work with them again if we ever take on another remodel.

Chris and his team maintained great communication throughout and the entire project went very smoothly. What I appreciated most was their flexibility on timing as well as the ability to do various new work that came up as the project began. Anything that came up they were able to do and costs were very reasonable. Most of the design direction came from me, so if you prefer to have a contractor design for you that is something I'm sure they do but didn't get into much on this project. I enjoyed working with this company and would recommend them to others.

Regency worked with us, using fixtures / materials we sourced from several different suppliers, allowing us to get exactly the look we wanted at a price lower than any other quote we had received for the job. The crew worked quickly, clearly were very skilled, and were cool enough to help me haul a bunch of the stuff in any time I brought it over. The results were great, and - according to our real estate agent - increased the value of the condo by a lot more than we paid for the renovation. After finishing up the bathrooms, we hired Regency for other miscellaneous jobs, and each time they got the job done at very fair prices. We're definitely going to consider them when it comes time to do work on our house across town.

I'm preparing to sell my home 4 years after my subpar kitchen remodeling job. There was an update…read moreto the electrical code that required me to replace my outlets. The contractor that came in could not install GFCI outlets because the openings cut into the backsplash that Regency installed were incorrectly sized, not thoughout, and misaligned with the electric box in the wall. One outlet was simply uninstallable because the installation posed a short circuit risk. I have to close it up purely due to shoddy backsplash work. Sloppy backsplash work, terrible tilework at the edges, grout slapped on. This contractor cut corners because they were lazy and it shows in the details beyond just the backsplash. I finished a full home remodel over the last 6 years with different contractors. Regency was the first I contracted with and the one I regret the most. I DO NOT recommend this company.

He was perfectly pleasant and seemed professional. He said he was going to submit a bid. (This was a $100,000+ project.) A week later, when I checked to see when he would be submitting his bid, he said he had already emailed me the bid. I had not received it, and told him so. He said he would resend it. Then he ghosted me! I tried twice more to text him, asking what had happened, and I got no response. He was a nice guy, but I pity the person who hires him and then gets ghosted halfway through a project.

Some days they said they would be there and ghosted us completely. Ended up getting the work done but very frustrating and took way longer than expected. Price was fair. Middle of the road on the quotes we got. End product is great. Additional information- very unprofessional communication. Multiple times when we called him out on his poor communication he got mad and was very aggressive. When I refused to pay the job until I saw the work (2 hours after completion of the job when I got home from work) he became irate and was very unprofessional. Upon posting the review above which is an accurate description of my experience, he sent me and my family a nasty text. Will not rehire.
