Every item in the shop I manage ends in 99. - £1.99, £2.99... Yes, we go through a lot of pennies. Yes, I often have to run over to the bank. Yes, they are lovely about this.
I was surprised with RBS Alloa based on my experience with RBS previously. I worked in Bridge of Allan before and regularly used the branch there. The staff were often a little short and insisted that we complete change request forms even for very small amounts of change. I work with volunteers and often had to send them to the bank on my behalf with instructions. If ever there was a problem, (ie. no change request form as change was urgent) the staff tended to take it out on the poor volunteer. The result was that many volunteers didn't want to go to the bank.
At the Alloa branch, they look at me funny when I bring a request form to exchange a pound for pennies, as I often have to do. It really shouldn't be necessary to fill in a form for such a small amount so it's great that staff are understanding of this. I feel really reassured by the staff here and I'm comfortable with sending volunteers to the bank for that reason.
Staff are friendly and I've never had any extended wait time here, even during busier periods. Also, they're open on Saturday mornings, which is great. - I can stock up on my pennies for a busy day ahead! read more
