It only took me 3 years but I finally found my barber shop. When I first moved to the IE I bounced around from barber shop to barber shop because I couldn't find one I was satisfied with. Found this place via Yelp of course and decided to give it a try. It wasn't very packed for a Saturday afternoon. The barbers seem to have a good camaraderie among them. Which makes for a good time with all the sh** talking that goes around. I'm not much of a stickler for "rules" so the two dogs in the shop didn't bother me but I'm sure someone who's uptight will have an issue. There's also a manicurist in the shop so if your girl is along for the ride she can get her nails done while she waits. read more

I have a love hate relationship with Razo's barbershop. On the good side: Unlike beauty salons, they take their time on the details. Of the two times I've gone, each haircut took at least 45min. because the barber made sure to blend well. This is in contrast to beauty salons were the stylist uses the machine on the sides, blends lightly, and tries to make it as quick as possible. On the bad: The rest of the experience is absolutely terrible. Here's why: (in order of importance) 1.Terrible waiting times. I called ahead of showing up and the first time I waited over two hours! Although the owner told me a time to be there and I was there at that time. On the second occasion, the wait was significantly less but it was still at least 30min. with calling ahead. What's worse is that there are walk-ins that wait a long time to get a haircut. 2.Very unprofessional environment and staff. Most would agree that having a friendly staff that jokes around is a good thing, and for the most part it is. However, the staff talks among each other bantering, in a very unprofessional way (i.e. Joking about using the bathroom). They also have a stereo that is playing hip-pop, Mexican Nortenas, and other music that is not appropriate for kids and therefore not appropriate for the business. I personally don't like 'banda' so I don't like that I have to put on headphones to escape the music. On both occasions, the owner was drinking a beer. Not that it's absolutely terrible, just that again, it's unprofessional to drink a beer while cutting people's hair and using sharp objects. Not doubting his abilities to cut hair after one beer, just that it's a terrible liability and it shouldn't be done in my opinion. A barber insisted on getting my cell phone number when I asked the next time he would be there so I could schedule my haircut ahead of time. He even mad up an excuse saying that he has a 'new number' when I instead, asked him for his. Then he wrote it on a piece of paper and took it with him (instead of writing it on the company's notes or client notes). Asking for my number when I don't want to give it is unprofessional and it made me feel uneasy. Lastly, the barbers pick up calls and answer texts while they have a client on the chair instead of waiting until they are in between clients (especially considering the waiting times). 3. There is a dollar charge to use a credit card. This is just an old school way of doing business, and I personally find it unappealing. What I didn't like is being charged a dollar to use my credit card after waiting two hours (vs being polite and waiving the credit card fee for the wait). In the end I'm going to pay more at another place to avoid the bad things about this place. It's unfortunate because it has potential. read more

I wanna start off by saying the atmosphere is great in there. The owner Chris is cool people's and everybody else is to. They try to make you as comfortable as possible but then comes the issues. I had to wait for 3 hrs. 3 HOURS!! For a hair cut. I called first they said 45 mins to 1 hr. I understand that it was right before a holiday but why lie?? Talk about customer service. So I get the least liked guy. I don't remember his name but tall, big with tattoos. Sits by the owner. So i get cut and then come out to see it. It was one of the worst cuts I ever had. He cut me when he used the razor and the clippers he used are uneven as F***! What makes me more pissed is as the owner sat there he didn't say shit about how it looked. Unprofessional as hell. Came here earlier than 9 and Rich was already open for my boyfriend, service was great! Rich did not hesitate at all on starting to cut my man's hair. Another plus, was he took his time to make sure his customers were treated fairly and asked if they were satisfied with their haircut. Along the way of trimming through my man's hair he stopped and asked if he needed any adjustments,now that is what you call professional. My man's hair cut turned out great! We were in town in Fontana to get his truck dropped at NL SUSPENSIONS and also for the week of Hard Summer Music Festival. The car shop was not too far from this barber shop and I stumbled upon some amazing reviews on this place. Therefore, we decided to try how this place is while my boyfriend was waiting for his truck to be dropped and aligned,but anyways it was an amazing experience here I will definitely drive my way back here from LA just to take my man to get a fresh cut! We made an appointment last week. I called about three times asking questions and made sure he knew we were coming in. He assured me that we would be good to go. Come today we walk in and it's empty aside from a few kids..a guy is cutting hair and immediately doesn't say anything. After a couple seconds of awkward standing he asks us if are here for a walk in. I say we have an appointment his face is shocked. He says..."appointment?"Uh you must me the ones for (blah blah I forgot his name). He's like he isn't here let me call him. He calls him and the guy sounds like he doesn't give a shit. Says he isn't coming in and it's basically not his fault he didn't know. I understand appointments can get mixed up but he didn't even offer compensation or anything for tomorrow he said we need to come back on his time tomorrow. I made an appointment for your time and it was wasted. So now you're acting like its my fault? The guy there was nice but even he didn't offer to help much. He said that guy knows how to cut my bf's hair better (he's black so it's a little more difficult) and simply was like well I'll put a time down and hopefully he is here tomorrow. Ummmm next! We left and went to another barber off Sierra. My boyfriend gets his haircut everyday two weeks and tips well. You definitely lost a good customer and pushed us to do business elsewhere. Shame I had high hopes for this place. Walking into Razo's barbershop is like a step into an awesome memory from my childhood of the old time barbershop where everyone knew each other and gathered for more than just a great hair cut! Although the barbers are young men they seem to have a deep respect for that 'old school' style shop even though they are obviously very skilled in the latest styles! I was extremely impressed by the level of professionalism from all of the barbers and owner/barber Chris is simply amazing! I came here because my usual place was having an event out of town. I made an appointment a couple days ahead and got the appointment with the owner Chris. I go in 5 minutes before my appointment and they tell me to sign in, cool. Chris was already working on a customer, which is fine I understand sometimes appointments overlap or whatever. However one hour later he was barely finishing on the guy. And I totally understand he's taking his time and it seemed like he was doing a great job. This other gentleman and his child come in 10 minutes before Chris finishes up on the guy he was originally working on and he then proceeds to help them. Seriously wtf?! I walked out. I don't mind waiting, but the fact that he took another person that came in after me when I already had an appointment is really unprofessional in my opinion. I was originally pretty excited to try a new place but I guess this is what I get. Never coming here again. You guys need to better organize and communicate with your customers as to what's going on. read more
