The general contractor, Bruce Cosper, was never on site. He showed up a day or 2, or an hour or so…read morein the morning, once in a while. He left the construction up to his son Asa and a helper. Bruce agreed to construct the foundation per mutually agreed upon consultation and plans. He did not do so. We had to insist on modification that should not have been necessary, either time or money wise. Asa did not understand the building system we were using, did not ask questions of us, an architect/owner who could and did provide drawings. Most egregiously, Asa did not refer to drawings provided to him, and constructed walls incorrectly. Asa and Bruce acknowledged this, then Bruce, his father, told us we would pay for him to make this mistake and we would also pay to correct them! The work was slow and sloppy. We told Asa repeatedly that the wall panels faced with cement board was our finished surface and please take care with them. Instead Asa handled them carelessly, causing extensive damage, and even stepped on a panel right in front of one of us, breaking off a large section. I have photos and video of this behavior. Bruce charged us multiple times over the budget/estimates he provided because of his poor work, slow work, inadequate, inexperienced, crew, unnecessary mistakes and for this he charges a 20% markup on all material and services! For what ???? To be over budget and months behind. I would never recommend this contractor.

I would not recommend DJP Ability Contracting LLC due to the fact that Damon Padilla owner is not a…read moreman of his word. Damon called me on 9/24/25 and came to my home on the 26th. He quoted me a price of $3,600.00 to cement the center part of my back yard. Prior to his price quote, I had mentioned that I had saved $4,000.00 and that was all that I had for this project. He mentioned that he would extend the cement closer to the sides of my back yard and would round off the estimate to $4,000.00 and I agreed. On Friday, 9/26 his crew started the work on and removed some of the gravel and large piles of dirt, and placed the dirt on my front lawn, and left it that way until the following Wednesday, Oct.1st, which is when I texted Damon to remove the dirt from my front yard. He and his crew came over to remove the dirt from my front yard, and also laid down the cement. Damon then told me that he underestimated this job and it would cost another $500.00. I am retired and I explained that I received my Social Security on the 3rd, so I wrote him a check for another $500.00 dated for the 3rd of October. I had paid him in full because the job was about 90% completed, however I have not seen him since and it is now October 18th. The cement is uneven and he left piles of gravel off to the side of my house. He had said that he would even out all the gravel and he did not. He also did not lay down any cement behind my shed. We had to buy cement to add it to the back of the shed. He also left his wheel barrel along with all the tarps and extra dirt behind. On Oct. 6th I had asked him to pick up his wheel barrel and on Oct 9th he said that he had a rough couple of days and his sister could pick it up unless I could wait for him. The wheel barrel has a flat tire and it is very heavy with the dirt and a tarp, so I thought it may be too heavy for her, so I said that I can wait for him to pick it up. I still have not heard from him. Damon's business card states "Ensuring your vision becomes a reality" Well this was not my vision. I would have been better off leaving my backyard with the gravel and the $4500.00 in my pocket. We also had to add cement and stones to complete the job that he started, costing me another $100.00. By the way, his crew left their empty water bottles all over my yard, including full bottles of water that I gave them. This is not how clients should be treated. I have attached photos of the unfinished job, and you can judge for yourself. Stay away from DJP Ability Contracting LLC.
