Ray consistently does a good job. Also takes care of ears and nose hair for the males that need. It's best to make an appointment although he does take walk-ins, but it can get pretty crowded on weekends. He is a little chatty so if you aren't into that, just keep that in mind. read more

Ray is a really pleasant guy who seems very passionate about customer service, I wish him well in life. That being said, neither Ray, my haircut, or my experience here was my cup of tea. First of all, Ray spent the bulk of my haircut telling me pretty inappropriate comments and jokes (mostly misogynistic and a homophobic one for good measure). A week later I'm still kind of bothered by some of the stuff he said. The fact that he told some of these jokes while a pre-teen was sitting in the next chair made it even worse. Next weird situation was the waxing. He asked if I wanted my ears waxed. He's first barber to ever offer to wax the fuzz from inside my ears so I didn't know what to expect but said sure. Before I could object he had dipped a couple q-tips in wax and put them in my nose (in addition to my ears). The pain of having those ripped out was pretty intense and stung for hours afterward. I'm not sure why he wouldn't have asked about that part of the waxing, I definitely would have declined the offer. The haircut was the worst part. I told him I wanted a #2 on the sides and to cut about 1.5 inches off the top. I also told him that the previous barber messed up and left too much hair on my part in the back and that it should be cut short there. He used the buzzer for, at most, the bottom inch of my hair, and cut the rest with scissors. He left the weird long part I had complained about and told me I should be combing my hair differently. I realized he thought he was done when he asked if I was happy with the haircut. The hair on my sides being nearly as long as when I came in (a far cry from a #2), I asked him to cut it shorter. For a moment he objected and then I stood my ground and asked him again to go shorter. He cut a bit more off with the scissors but again left my hair more than twice as long as I've ever gotten it cut and with a part in the back I wasn't comfortable with. It's also worth mentioning that he's raised the prices to $30 for a men's haircut and is cash only (an ATM is on premises). I've gotten a haircut every 4-6 weeks for my entire adult life and this was the first time I've had to go to another barber shortly after to get a cut fixed. I'm only giving him 2 stars because I do think he means well and based on all the positive reviews online I'm sure his personal style is fine for some people. read more

I have known Ray for over 20 yrs. He has cut my hair and my son's hair when he worked as an employee at other shops. Ray is an immigrant from another country and has worked hard his whole life to open his own shop. He knows the value of hard work and the value of a customer drive business. Everyone who enters his establishment is treated with kindness and respect. He is very outgoing and appreciates everyone. If you have read any negative reviews about him, they are just not true and probably fabricated with the sole purpose to cause harm to his business. Been going to Ray for years. Tried others and kept coming back. Why I like Ray: The $15 shop have a high turnover. They know you at best through a computer entry. Good people but their shop's focus is on quick turn. Ray is more personable. I like the consistency of my barber as opposed to just being churned every time to someone else or new and who may leave that place next month; (Haircutting people (men & women move around quite a bit.) Ray knows my haircut style (which we evolved over the last 20 some years) and though I test other shops, I kept coming back and enjoying the experience and a good haircut. Am not the only one.
