I called them up and had quick response which was great. They came by that afternoon to take a look. They saw that I had an older ac unit and immediately tried to sell me a new unit. Told me I had a coolant leak and that they wouldn't have parts for it. Did not diagnose where it may be leaking or how bad it was leaking. They ended up charging me $700 to refill plus $89 service fee. I didn't have a choice but to get it refilled so I can have some ac. But I felt I should get a second opinion on the replacing the unit as they quoted me $7000 to do it. I called another company to take a look and give me a quote. Instead of immediately quoting me a new unit, they were able to find a leaky Schrader valve using a detection tool and some Big Blue bubble liquid. The liquid immediately made bubbles. Told me it is often a part that fails and they always check first. They replaced the faulty valve and topped off the unit. Price was reasonable. Told me the leak wasn't severe and was surprised how much I was charged for the previous fill. They also told me that I should plan for an eventual replacement. They told me the unit took maximum 5lb oz of coolant plus some for plumbing, so even if it was all gone, that I was overcharged for the coolant. It was good these guys came quickly and got my ac working on a very hot day. But I don't feel they are trustworthy.

Determines that the unit has no refrigerant. Finds leak in the lines between the inside air handler and the external compressor. Since the line was not part of the original install, repairs would not be handled under warranty. That was not what I wanted to hear, but I understood Efficient's stance. I requested a quote on the repairs. The Efficient Tech was not able to find anybody available to make or confirm a quote for the work. The tech promised that the quote would be delivered the next day. (April 9) April 30 2024 -- no quote or communication from Efficient Heating and Cooling. No text. No email. No phone call. Efficient Heating and Cooling never following up with a quote is not great. But it is a busy time. Guess I got lost in the shuffle. BUT The distressing part of this are the issues that were found apart from the leak ... Issues that were part of the original install by Efficient Heating and Cooling. Efficient Heating and Cooling trumpets its status as a Rheems partner and yet there were mistakes in the original install. " Found condenser wired incorrectly and thermostat programmed incorrectly." "Y2 and O/B were reversed at the condenser and thermostat was set to energize reversing valve on cool. Aux Heat wire was also landing on the wrong terminal at the thermostat. "

The man then arrived and was apparently new, yet trying to diagnose this alone. After being in his car for 45 minutes with no update, he finally said I would get it fixed 4 days later and the diagnoses was one they had said before (that was also wrong then). It was wrong again this time. I called another company, they came out the following day and it was fixed in a day. Will never recommend MJ Frick and their incompetency.

I've struggled for a bit with my upstairs HVAC unit. The unit was poorly installed, low quality,…read moreand way oversized. When I first moved in, it sounded like a freight train was taking off when the second stage kicked in, and papers/curtains would literally fly around the room. I've had two other techs come look at it so far. The first tech disconnected the second stage, which caused a ton of humidity issues last summer. The second tech said he could dump the extra air in the garage or outside. I gave up last year and ran a dehumidifier to make it through the end of summer. This summer, I decided I'd try one more time before looking at replacement units. Ben Fraser from Roscoe Brown came out and spent quite a bit of time digging in. He found one major issue - the TXV was not set properly, so the unit was not cooling properly. He reconfigured the valve and reconnected the 2nd stage. Finally, he adjusted the airflow to be much more reasonable for the ductwork. The result is much cooler air, much better dehumidification, and no more freight train! It's not perfect, but it will keep me from having to buy a new unit for several more years. The price was fairly high compared to some of the non-name-brand techs, but the results were great. I was happy with the price considering the results.

I called them for a repair and my husband told them it needed the gas. So they come out and tells us yes it needs gas! But get this they say we don't put the gas in anymore! They purposely withheld that information from us just so they could charge for a service call knowing fully well they couldn't perform the service needed. I have now decided to file a BBB report . I will be looking for a new service company. I had been paying $ 119.00 a year for Spring and Fall check ups. Not bad very reasonable. My husband called and was told the plan was 100 a year. Then why am I paying 119.00? I called up and to inquire about the rates and was told they do not offer the yearly maintenance plans anymore. Well how can that be if not 5 minutes before they gave my husband a quote for a 100.00. I do not like dishonest companies. I thought so highly of this company for a long time. Nothing good lasts I guess. Very disappointed. I have never heard of an AC Company not having a yearly plan. They also said we needed another capacitor at 150.00. The one they put in didn't even last 5 years, and they should last from 5-20. I had asked for a refund of the 99 dollar fake service call and was denied so therefore I did not let them put this in. We bought one from Amazon for less 20 bucks. Big mark up.
