This review is based on my personal experience as a teen in ROWI Teen Covina's IOP and PHP…read moreprograms. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely negative and contributed to a decline in my mental health. The programs were very different from how they were described during intake. Many activities that were presented as part of the program did not actually happen. Groups were often repetitive, inconsistent, and held in the same small room every day. Several group leaders repeated the same content weekly, and some sessions involved little to no structure. A large amount of time was spent sitting without engaging therapeutic activities. Some groups consisted only of open discussion, which was especially difficult for teens who struggle with communication. Other times, unrelated topics were discussed, or a video was played with little guidance or interaction. There was excessive downtime. Many teens sat quietly waiting for the program to end, which felt isolating and unhelpful for those dealing with depression or anxiety. The environment felt understimulating and disengaging rather than supportive. Staff experiences varied. While a few were kind, others came across as dismissive or unprofessional. At times, support felt minimal, such as being given a fidget or paper and left alone despite visibly struggling. I did not receive the level of individualized care that was implied. This program was not a good fit for me, especially as someone who has difficulty communicating and fitting in. I left feeling more discouraged than when I started. Given the cost, I expected significantly more therapeutic support. I regret attending this program and would encourage families to carefully research and ask detailed questions before enrolling.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after multiple frustrating experiences, I feel compelled to…read moreshare mine. I chose this practice because it presents itself as a Christian counseling practice, and I expected that values such as compassion, grace, and understanding would be reflected not only in therapy but also in the way patients are treated by the office. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. While I genuinely like my therapist and appreciate the care she provides during our sessions, my interactions with the billing department and office administration have been consistently stressful. I've experienced insurance and billing issues that disrupted my continuity of care, and I was even asked to accept responsibility for claims if my insurance provider failed to pay before they would continue seeing me. Instead of feeling supported, I often felt like I had to fight just to receive care. Most recently, I canceled a 5:00 p.m. appointment that same morning and was charged a $70 missed appointment fee. What made this especially difficult was that my therapist had previously canceled appointments on me, and I extended understanding because I know unexpected situations happen. I hoped that same grace would be extended to me, but instead I was met with a rigid policy and no consideration of the circumstances. Throughout my experience, the communication from the billing office has felt impersonal and lacking in empathy. When I raised concerns, I did not feel heard or that there was any willingness to consider the individual circumstances of a patient. From my perspective, the policies felt more important than the people they affect. My disappointment is not with my therapist but with the way the practice is managed. I had hoped the owner would take patient concerns seriously and make changes to improve how the billing department communicates with and treats people. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. Mental health treatment should help reduce stress, not add to it. I hope this feedback encourages the practice to reflect on how patients are treated outside the therapy room, because administrative interactions are an important part of the overall care experience.

I am so grateful to have found Karen Allen and Crossroads Family Therapy…read more For the better part of the last four years, we struggled as a family to support our family member who suffers from bipolar 1. we went through countless therapists and psychiatrists who really did not understand the depth of this illness, and misdiagnosed our loved one's illness. And then one day someone referred us to Karen. She helped us as a family guide our family member to the right resources, doctors, and medication's and continues this day to help our family member rebuild their life. Too many professionals don't understand this illness and therefore don't recognize it. The good news is there are good treatments and good people out there to help you and your loved one and your family on this journey, Karen is one of them.

Our family is going through a difficult situation and I wanted her to have someone to talk to that is unbiased. Going to Karen Allan's Crossroads ended up being a disastrous mistake. The therapist under Karen's employ decided to take sides with my wife rather than serve my daughter. She turned my daughter further against me and codifies negative, harmful behavior. She's disrespectful, dishonest, and demeaning to me and has made clear that fathers' are not important to children. She even gives lip service to Christian values while making a mockery of what they actually stand for. If you're thinking of taking your child here for help (particularly if you're a father), don't. These people talk sweetly and gently while causing your child long-term harm. I don't want another person to suffer the way this clinic has caused me under the malevolent guidance they offer.
