Absolutely amazing human and wonderful therapist. When I am trying to communicate well, I now think "how would Gabe say this?"

Finding a good therapist is hard enough but with a handful of five star reviews (at the time) taking the chance that he was as good as they said felt like a big leap of faith. To put it plainly, he is as good as the reviews say. Gabriel is such a thoughtful, wise, curious, and genuinely kind person and skilled therapist that it's hard not to feel heard. He gave me things that I kept thinking about in my day to day between sessions and challenged me to grow as a person and communicator. Gabriel has been so awesome to work with for the last 7 months. He listens, puts things into perspective and gives you the tools you need to help you move forward. He's straight forward and actually gives feedback. He's not a counselor to just sit there, listen and say "OK, so what are you thoughts about that?" He's reasonably priced and if you have a PPO you can submit a superbill for partial reimbursement with your insurance. This review is long overdue! My husband and I started going to Gabriel right after we got engaged. We first went with a very specific concern. Gabriel is a very objective and empathetic human being. He also understands what's really going on, and picks up little details and nuances. We also like how he approaches each of us individually and addresses our concerns. We have kept going to him after the original issue was resolved and we plan to keep going every now and then. I found Gabriel after doing a lot of online research because we'd been unsuccessful with other therapists we'd worked with in the past. Gabriel has been pivotal in our relationship during crisis. He was able to openly hear both perspectives while in couples therapy together and during one-on-one sessions. He takes those perspectives and offers guidance/advise on different ways to develop a healthier relationship. He's aware there are several ways to improve a relationship and offers some paths but ultimately makes it our job to choose and work on it on our own. There are times when he challenges you to think about things from a different angle which is useful in times of tension. Now that we are in a better space, we continue to check-in with him and build upon the foundation he helped us create. To top it off, not only is he great at his job, but he has a great personality and we've enjoyed getting to know him personally and had many laughs together. We consider him a good friend. We've been seeing Gabriel for a few months now and, without doubt, our relationship progressed in the direction that we both hoped for. Gabriel is easy to talk to. I think that it can be easier for men to talk to him because he's a male and can understand/relate to their problems better. He's great in finding ways and approaches on how to get both of us engaged in the conversation. What I appreciate the most is the fact that he's not taking sides during our sessions. Instead, he helps us to get to the bottom of our arguments and issues and pushes us to solve these problems ourselves. He's also good at giving general relationship advice that can better it in long-term and keep it on right track continuously. Obviously, no matter how brilliant a family therapist is, the actual outcome of the therapy is going to depend on the couple. Unless both are willing to work on it, be flexible and objective of themselves, as well as being open-minded to trying new ways of solving the problems that the couple is going through, no one and nothing will save that relationship. So, ultimately, it is up to us. However, a good counselor can help the two to learn how to communicate better, fight the "right way" and learn how to avoid the same problems by identifying the exact reason for their reoccurrence and solving it.
