From the CW website: "The garden displays many rare and unusual varieties of heirloom vegetables as well as a collection of heirloom roses and fruits. It features a botanic garden of North American and European herbaceous plants and an herb garden with examples of culinary, medicinal, and household herbs used by the colonists." "Get your hands dirty in this garden filled with vegetables and perfumed by heirloom roses and herbs. Garden historians demonstrate 18th-century techniques and encourage guests to explore and ask questions. Meet a gardener and handle the specialty tools used in the 1700s for planting and harvesting crops. Learn about the herbs and vegetables that were commonly grown for food and the flowers that ornamented the landscape." Year round the area is open from 9am-5pm but if you are coming during winter or early spring they won't be selling anything but you can still enter and explore the grounds. Chances are there will be a staff member or two in the garden working on something and they are usually very helpful with any questions.
