Earlier in the day, I called to inquire whether a family member was at the funeral home so I could assist my grandmother in sending a Red Cross message. Later, I called again to confirm that the family member had not yet been handled or transferred, as I had been informed otherwise by a relative. I'm not sure if this lady is having a bad day or what, but regardless of the circumstances, I believe it is wrong to speak to or treat grieving individuals, especially service members, in such a manner. Based on this lady's demeanor, I am glad my relative is not at this funeral home because a business is only as good as its worst employee.

I've been here far too many times in my not that many years and it's of course always a most somber…read moreoccasion. I've been here both for visitations and for funeral services, and they seem to handle both well. They have a room in the back where loved ones can tuck away and have a bite to eat and regroup before heading back out to the visitation room, which my friend found a welcome break from a very claustrophobic visitation (her dad was very treasured in our community and their family a large one so turnout was intense). Parking is a little limited, but fortunately the street spots nearby are not metered, which I hope the city will continue to offer as downtown sprawls ever-outward and parking becomes more and more a paid luxury.

From dusk…read moreSundat to dawn of Memorial Day, the cemetery is open for vehicles to drive through to pay respect to those who have lost their lives, the graves are marked with candles. Veterans stand guard at the entrance and exit and offer services guides as you enter and American flag pins as you leave. It's a really beautiful thing. We went at dusk. They all that you turn off your headlights as you drive through. It's a really quiet and tranquil memorial.
