I was very pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course. Sure, the clubhouse is a bit old and outdated, but once you've checked in, you're in for a fun couple hours. There is an excellent putting/chipping area, as well as a driving range. The 9 holes are a links-style course with a little bit of water here and there. Like I said before, the greens were in excellent condition, especially for it being the day after a large storm rolled through. The sand was in excellent condition too (although I'm not supposed to know that. I guess I just gave away how my round went). My favorite memory from this course will be the smell. As weird as that sounds, it's absolutely true! This course is across the street from a Mars factory (mars bars, M&Ms, etc). When the wind is blowing the right direction, you get a healthy whiff of chocolate goodness. I'm not sure if it improves the golf score, but it definitely improves the mood! All in all we had a fun time at Forbes. Great bang for your buck.

It's about 15 minutes away from I-70, so you truly get out in nature and away from the busyness of everyday life. It was quiet and so peaceful - a perfect little retreat. FYI: There is very little cell service in the area. It's definitely a plus if you want to get away from it all, but know you might be offline for a while when you go.

At first I was pretty nervous pulling up as while the park itself is awesome, new, and has tons of cool things to play on, there was very little shade provided which had me worried. Luckily for us that evening there was a breeze, and there is one spot for adults with a picnic table and a provided overhang that provides shade. I do think that planting some trees or installing some more shaded elements would make this a five star spot, but for now it's a solid four stars - a great modern park, tons of cool stuff for the kids, and if it's a beautiful day it's a perfect hang.

I play there a few times in the summers and it's always beautiful. Nice view of the lake and the flint hills. I wish it was 18 holes because it does get busy around the holidays in the summer. Not going to lie hole 3 is a pain. Not because it was poorly designed, just not a good enough golfer to master that hole! Lol.
