My BF and I have been filing our returns with Raven Paul for years now. We have always used Silvia and she has been great for us. We actually almost look forward to going to see her each year! Almost--lol. We make our appointments early, go into the office, and hammer everything out over the course of an hour or two. Our taxes are relatively uncomplicated (including an LLC I own), but our experiences have always been good. We have struggled a bit at times with getting appointment staff to get back to us promptly, but in general, we plan ahead and have had no issues. Sorry to see so many bad reviews here as that hasnt been our personal experience. read more

I heard good things about this company as I was referred to them from a friend but I didn't have a good experience with them at all. I uploaded all of my documents and sent them an email stating that my docs were ready to be assigned and worked on. NO RESPONSE. I left multiple voicemails ... NO RESPONSE. 5 weeks of my valuable time wasted and they didn't give one simple explanation of why they refused my business. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. If I were you I would skip this "company." read more

I am regretted that I didn't read all these reviews before I came here for accounting service. I came to this place because this is what my new job's coworkers have been using for accounting service. Oh god I should've found my own accountant instead of using this. Like everyone stated here, bad communication or NO communication. I just started my own "corp" and doing 1099 and needed some guidance and accounting service. This "corp" thing is all new to me. I paid $750 for retainer, they checked it right away and then nothing was really done. I needed my corp tax information to open business banking account, etc. I contacted them multiple times via email, phone calls (at different locations too) and heard pretty much NOTHING for 2 months. I left several messages and hoping they would get back to me, and again nothing. Finally after the tax season, the accountant finally got back to me and we had a meeting in person. The office was so disorganized and documents were everywhere. The meeting was pretty much useless. I had to come up with my own questions and no guidance what so ever as this "corp" thing is all new to me. After the meeting, again, no communication what so ever and no replies. Finally I got a new "actual" accountant who would reply my emails and answer my questions promptly. I emailed Raven Paul & Co telling them I would like to change my accountant. And of course now they replied immediately me after I said I wanted to change accountant. Later I received another bill of $813. So they have done minimal crappy job for me (like setting up for my corp account, and got my corp name wrong and had to revised it and that's it, no book keeping, no tax stuff, nothing) and then charged me $813 + $750. What an expensive traumatizing learning experience. Do not come here please. We all deserve a regular or better accounting service than this. I am pretty traumatized by this experience. This is worse than any "service" I have received in NY... (that says a lot). read more

We have been with Raven & Paul Company for at least 20 years. They have had ups and downs since both Raven and Paul passed away. We were thinking about not going back but then we were assigned to Maria Elias. She is very knowledgeable and provides great advices. She is very professional and helpful. We are glad that we did not leave. I highly recommend Maria Elias. read more

I started with Paul maybe 30 or more years ago. He was a great CPA and a true professional. What a loss when he passed away. Then I worked with Raven and was also very pleased with her. After Raven too passed away I have continued with the firm. There have been minor inconveniences but no reason to make a change. This year I have been assigned to Maria Elias. The last day to file was 7 days ago. I can not get a return call and there have been many. When I call there is only a recording that tells me I will get a call asap. I wonder if they have caller id? If I don't here soon I will be forced to start over with a new firm. Maybe Maria died too?! Sincerely, Chris Hertz read more

After going to them for years and years, their service just kept getting worse and worse. Raven is very nice but their whole process outside of that is HORRIBLE. Nobody ever calls you back when they promise. You have to keep calling and calling to get someone that actually will do something. Plus the prices I found are higher then they should be. If you can, go to ANDERSON'S TAX SERVICE in Cerritos. They are family owned since 1963. Yes all their staff is family owned. See my yelp post their. What took almost 6 weeks just to get my taxes e-filed here, took Anderson's 2 days. YES TWO -2-2-2-TWO...yes I did say 2 days for them to e-file my taxes. Raven your sweet but those people you have working for you just don't get what "customer service" is. read more

I was helping a friend of mine who was trying to incorporate his business. He came to this joke of a company without reading up on Yelp first. That's his first mistake. Second mistake was paying these jokers before signing any paperwork. So 13 months later, the company still hasn't rendered services, and my friend is looking to sue them. Maybe that will help put them out of business. This place is worse than the IRS. They take far more money, and make promises they can't deliver. At least with the IRS, you know what you're getting into. And the service is akin to a DMV on crack. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS Similar horror stories except I got it on my personal taxes and business services. After giving Bob Router my tax info 3 weeks before April 15th, he didn't finish them until a week after the deadline which cost me $800 in penalties. During that stressful run-up to the deadline, and the week after, he neither took nor returned my calls. Their business legal service - Advanced Legal Documents, run by Maryann - were unable to correct my company's minutes in a timely fashion, and when I received the amended documents - they were updated incorrectly. I have since left dozens of calls and emails and have yet to hear from them. I was forced to go to another company to make the changes. read more

Unfortunately I had a very underwhelming experience with Raven Paul. I incorporated an S-Corp with them on the advice of a friend. It was my first time really dealing with an accounting firm so I had no idea where the bar should be set. But after my experience I would say "higher" than this. My critiques would be: 1. When I said that I wanted to open an S-Corp there were no questions or explanations. I didn't think much of this at the time, but in talking to other accountants in the past few years I realized that it made absolutely no-sense for me. I'm not talking about financial planning, just a 5 minute conversation and a few questions and clarifications. I have since closed the business. 2. It's expensive. 3. The response time on requests/emails/calls is generally VERY slow. read more

Been coming here for 25 years, wouldn't change a thing. They are in high demand so set your appointment early. Very professional!

I agree with everyone. I used this nut jobs 4 years ago and i gave my paperwork to Bob Router in Jan and they did not get it done until August they had to file extensions for my paper work. They DO NOT RETURN PHONE CALL, DO NOT RETURN EMAILS. But they are very prompt in sending a bill. I screamed at them and told them in a letter that I will not pay for your services and if you proceed to come after me I will take you to small claims court and sue you! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS IT IS BAD,BAD BAD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I've gone to Raven Paul for many years... this year I've called half a dozen times at least... talked to a live person once... and also sent them an email.... NOT ONE CALL BACK and it's already March! I don't know what's happened to them... but for my 15 minutes of time for $325 I'll go elsewhere.... I can't beg you to take my money anymore... read more

Nothing against Raven, thought she was awesome, but some of her staff seriously lacks any customer service skills. Reading the reviews, it seems we all have the same complaints, no return calls or emails. Family or not, when people are making your business look bad, it's probably best to move them on. I will never go back to this place based on the exceptionally poor customer service and I would definitely not recommend them to anyone. read more

RUN, do not walk from this establishment. My husband and I have spent way too much time and energy dealing with them, so I'm not going to detail just how unprofessional this company is. We've had to crawl to the end of the limb to get what we've needed (and paid for). Take my word, read some other reviews and where you see the lack of communication and response? It's true... Here's a quote that's a big, fat lie... "I responded to all of (your husband's) emails and never received one from you." Guess when I forwarded that email I originally sent her, she felt differently. She didn't respond to all of my husband's emails either, not true. No need to name her, we had interactions with other staff that made us feel like this place was run by incompetents and not professionals. If you have time to waste and want your positive energy temporarily stripped, by all means bring your business here... read more

I've been going to Raven Paul for about 5 or 6 years now. First with Raven who always did a thorough and terrific job. Sadly, we lost her in 2018 to cancer, and now I do my tax returns with Abby who is a delight. Everyone is extremely competent and also are good people. I have pretty simple tax returns but also a couple LLCs that need K1s every year. They take care of everything and are thorough, meticulous, and honest. Highly recommended. read more

Same as all of the other reviews..... I made my appointment early, in February, to avoid the rush and hopefully get my refund early. I even filled out their questionaire to update my information. My preparer, Ed, was running behind and told us that he would finish our returns (personal & business) within the next week. When I finally received my returns I noticed that he hadn't reflected our updated information which therefore meant that he had to ammend our returns. Our returns took months to ammend, it just sat in their office. I called and emailed numerous times, and oftentimes even failed to receive a call or email back. I worked my way up, finally got throught to Raven. Raven sounded as though she was cocerned and symepthetic to my situation. I asked for some kind of monetary compensation, she said she would look into the sitation and call me back the next day with an answer as to what she could do. Dayssssss later, after a couple of messages left by me she emailed me and said she was sorry that she couldn't do anything for me. Needless to say, I'm taking my business elsewhere. What prompted my review today was, they had the gall to call me today to book an appointment for this year's taxes. read more
