Ravello is a charming resort town set above the Tyrrhenian Sea by Italy's Amalfi Coast. If you make the drive up, you can stroll around its iconic cliffside gardens. You'll have so many picture worthy views up there. I wouldn't even think of skipping a visit to Ravello if on a vacation in this area.
The 13th-century, Moorish-style Villa Rufolo has stunning views from its terraced gardens, and is a spot for indoor and outdoor concerts during the Ravello Festival during the summer. Villa Cimbrone, a medieval-style estate, is surrounded by another iconic garden. Both are worth your time.
The square in the middle of town has several restaurants with beautiful views. Many little shops to visit while the church tower chimes. It's all very charming.
There is a public parking lot and I had no trouble getting a spot there even on a summer day, but it was a bit rainy.
Yrs ago, I thought the church was open for visitors and walked right in, only to find myself in the middle of a wedding. I was very quickly escorted out and the doors closed firmly behind me. Oops! But I did quickly snap a pic to remind me of my funny faux-pas. read more
