There are guided tours in German and English language. Note that the English guided tours are not as often as the German guided tours. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. He made the guided tour enjoyable. It was nice learning the history and seeing various rooms of the Hamburg Townhall. Overall, I recommend visiting this landmark and doing the guided tour.

The seat of the "Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg", this building is on the Rathausmarkt square…read more Constructed between 1186 and 1897, this is also the seat of one of the 16 state parliaments of Germany. Government still operates from here. I did not have time for a proper tour of the building, but the next time I am in Hamburg, I absolutely will do so. The lobby is open to the public and you can get to a few other places if the parliament is not actually in session. [Review 12060 overall, 1843 of 2019.]

Buxdehude is part of the Hamburg metropol area and might be reached by the public transport system…read more The ancient city (center) is not verry big. So one day excursion might also include the city of stade and trips to the "alte Land" region , Jork, Finkenwerder etc. In Germany Buxdehude is well know from the fairy tale of Hare and Hedehoge (named Hase und Igel in german), which is located in this city. At least refering to the Brothers Grimm documentation. The tale is omnipresent in the city - you may not escape ;-) Like Stade, a small channel is still reaching into the center, in this case it's part of the Este river. Historicly goods have been shipped from here directly on the northern european water ways. In Summer, the city and Region is perfect for a bike tour. In Winter I would recoment the X-Mass Market instead!

The Bremen City Musicians NEVER made it to Bremen. I want to point that out before I talk about…read morethis statue IN Bremen. This statue is one of those things that you go to see when you go to a city to check the box. Everyone else is also there doing the same thing. The queueing system is inexistent and very disorganized. You have to wait until you can jump in to rub the foot and get a photo. People are super annoying and they linger in the frame while waiting for the photo, thus ruining your photo by being in it. This is not the statue's fault, but be prepared to be annoyed too by rude people. The statue has a base so it is tall for smaller children. One plus side for this statue is the location. If you are going to see it, you will be in the center of Bremen and in a good position to venture on and explore the city.

I've always loved the story of the Musicians of Bremen. So when I visited the city, of course I had…read moreto check out this sculpture. There isn't much to it. A visit involves looking at the statue, taking a photo, and moving on. But what more do you want? It's a really nice statue, and is also used on the logo of the city, so it has a lot of significance. When I was there, there was a football match between Werder Bremen and Schalke 04, and some Schalke fans threw their scarf onto the animals- controversial! The beautiful city of Bremen is a place you must visit, and the Stadtmusikanten statue is a simple and worthwhile place to stop off while you're there.
