I used to get lost in books but life happens and you know the rest. This library is fairly new, has ample sunlight and although it's not Lafayette's main branch I found several new authors thanks to the suggestions of the cleverly placed bookmarks. I was also surprised to learn that you can also now borrow a book to your Kindle or download an mp3 book! Yay for libraries!!! DVDs can be borrowed here as well but if you want a popular title you may have to place a hold, which is a breeze here thanks to online technology. If you love getting lost in a good book, go here.

Really nice little Library in the heart of Buna! The library had a really nice selection of books…read moreand is a lot bigger on the inside from what it looks like on the outside. We were there because the people that run Jana B's Food truck were sponsoring an educational snake exhibit. They had someone come in who was an experienced Herpetologist and he brought his collection of Non-venomous snakes in to show the kids and talk about each snake. He brought in a Rat Snake, an Green Emerald Boa, a Bull Snake, and a White Python of which species I failed to catch. He talked at length about each snake and at the end of the talk about each one, he let the kids who wanted to come up and hold some of the snakes! Our 6 year old had his sights set on the White Python which was about 5-6 feet long! He got to hold it and it really made his day!!! Afterward upon leaving everyone got to stop at get some good food from Jana B's Foodtruck! I picked up 5 of their Really good Corn Dogs to bring home for lunch! I also got to meet some really nice people while there! It was a very enjoyable experience for the kids and adults alike!

It's a great place to escape crappy weather, it's free and most importantly, books are our friends. Full disclosure: I'm not actually from around these parts. We were just passing through and needed a place for our kids to play. The children's department here was PHENOMENAL. So many great, educational toys and games for them, in addition to the expansive book selection. There are rows of computers, plenty of kid sized tables, chairs, blocks, puzzles, games and interactive features. They offer a story time and there's a room for crafts. You can tell a lot of care and planning went into the design of this space, the whole city should be proud.
