terrible customer service. I was referred by my old CPA Marlene. Tried to make appointment and I'm assuming the guy, her husband/asshat made that impossible. All I asked for was if I could have a consultation and set a time for that. He then assumed that I was demanding to be seen today in which I replied that I wasn't. He said that I can't help someone with and attitude. I have conversation recorded. All of this was caused from me asking legit questions. Guess he's too stressed for that. After he says he can't help me and hangs up the phone, he then proceeds to be more of an ass and thumbs up my email after conversation is over. Not a way to do business. I would still assume that Katheryn wouldn't approve of how he handled this. Maybe she can reach out as it seems that maybe her business is too large for her to handle but I definitely wouldn't allow this ass husband to answer the phone any longer. Could of had a new client with money. read more

I'm writing this review with the caveat of "I should've known better" however, as the experts, I was definitely looking to them to advise us. This was actually our first time having someone do our taxes, we normally do them ourselves and always on time. When I made the appointment, there was no comment about not getting them done on time (the appointment was later in March). I dropped our information off and was then told, they won't be done on time but we'll just file an extension. Having never done that, I asked if there were any implications and told none and there was no estimation on when they'd be done. I hopped in my car and did a quick google on filing an extension and found no mention of paying interest or any negative consequence. Fast forward a month after taxes are due and we're told that our taxes are done and we'll owe interest because of the late filing. It's compounded daily and they had no idea how much it would be. While I can make the argument I should've known (it's the government after all) having never filed late, and having asked the question about implications of filing late, I would've expected to be told that we'd have interest to deal with. And, if I had been told that, I would've absolutely done them ourselves and just made an appointment for the following year to make sure we'd get them done before the deadline. No harm no foul. Given the lack of information shared I can't in good conscious give a positive review. If you're someone who normally does your taxes yourself and normally owes and normally pays on time, this is probably not the place for you. If you don't care about paying interest for late filing and have money to toss out the window, then you're a good candidate. The positive comment I'll make is that when I checked in, they did respond within 24 hours but there is no proactive reaching out, you will need to bird dog a bit. read more

TL:DR - I was told I'd be receiving a $1600 refund. Didn't hear anything for three weeks until I inquired when I was told I owed $767 to the IRS. They didn't enter $18,000 of self-employment income on my taxes. Because they'd not filed my taxes yet, Kathryn refused to call this a mistake. I took my taxes to a real CPA and ended up owing $199. Don't bother with Kathryn. Use a real CPA instead. For a few years now, I've been using Kathryn to do my taxes and I've referred others to her as well. This year, I realized what a HUGE MISTAKE I've been making in using her services. I received a call from her office in early March telling me I'd be receiving a refund of $1600. Great! Radio silence for three weeks until I sent an email asking when I'd receive the docs I needed to sign. That is when I received an email telling me I owed the IRS $767. WHAT?? I inquired about what happened and was told the person who called me had forgotten to enter $18,000 of self-employment income on my taxes thus making it seem I'd be receiving a refund. Again...WHAT??? I was then asked to remit $115 for the tax services and then I'd receive the sheet I needed to sign. I emailed stating that this huge mistake was rather disconcerting and that I'd like to request they waive the $115 fee. Kathryn emailed me back stating no mistake had been made since they hadn't sent my taxes out yet. I responded that I believed it was a mistake to tell me I was receiving a refund, then to be told not only was that not true, but I owed over $700. AND...they didn't bother to tell me about this until I inquired. No phone call to let me know of the mistake, no email. I had to ask with just about a month to go before the April 15 tax deadline. Kathryn wrote back with this statement. Verbatim: "My employees that do preliminary data entry are NOT supposed to inform a client of any results of a return until I have reviewed it and signed off on it. This is not considered a mistake, it's incorrect information delivered early. It's not a mistake since it never left our office nor was it e-filed or sent to you incorrectly." So it wasn't a mistake, but rather "incorrect information delivered early?" Sounds like a mistake to me. Here's the kicker - I took my tax return to a CPA who completed it and guess what? I owed $199. NOT THE $767 KATHRYN CALCULATED!! Quite a difference. The CPA went over my return, discussed with me things I could deduct and advised me on things Kathryn has never discussed with me. Now I wonder if the taxes I've owed in past years could have been avoided. Probably so. Do not use Kathryn. Go to a real CPA. It's totally worth it and can save you a lot of money. read more

Their voice recording, and everywhere else on the internet, states that they are open 6 days a week until 7PM. Took a Friday off work only to show up and see a paper sign stuck on the door that says "new hours Mon-Thurs". Emailed them to ask about their hours to which they replied "Mon-Thurs". Took another day off work to drive out there on a Wednesday only to be told "we aren't doing in-person returns right now". That information should have been shared in their email response! This is lack of attention to detail - plus paper signs and an office in the back of someone's house? Sorry, no way you're going to do any finance related work for me. read more

Where do I start? Kathryn is amazing, she truly cares about her clients. During my appointment Kathryn slowed the process down and explained to my husband and I the way things work with the new tax year. She ensured we were satisfied as to our write offs and actually told us what we SHOULD HAVE been including in our write offs to maximize our taxes. I will encourage anyone who is looking for someone who isn't tax season fee crazy to come here! Doesn't matter your location it's worth the drive! I've used her services after plenty over charges from our W-2s & several 1099s. Kathryn was more than fair on our price!!!! We will only file through Kathryn going forward. She also can do everything for you electronically (where we don't have to return in office for the next filing year) How convenient is that?!? Kathryn is amazing!!!! We used her last year for the first time. We had 3 years of taxes that needed to be filed before the extension deadline and were panicked. We read reviews, gave her a call, and she had us come in an hour or two later. We were so grateful! There were many other companies that didn't want to give us the time of day, as we had 3 businesses and international taxes for each of the 3 years.
