I have been a member of ION bank for more than a decade since it was Naugatuck Savings Bank. Over…read morethe years I have been extremely dissatisfied with their lack of any type of customer service, but this last incident takes the prize. I deposited a 20k bank check into the ION Bank ATM on Wed evening, a check that was dispersed from an account in my name at another CT bank. The reason I had to make a night deposit was because I recently moved out of the area and had no other way to move the funds without spending another $40 on a wire transfer - which I refused to do! So the ATM spit out a receipt that indicated that the funds would not be available until the following Monday. So I called the next day to let them know that I could not wait until Monday for the funds, nor should I have to considering that it is a BANK CHECK I deposited. I was told after being run around for 10 minutes that they would not help me and that I had no choice but to wait until Monday. They will not return the check, and they will not release my funds. I asked that I speak to a manager, and then to the regional manager - who never bothered to even return my call. What a scam. Take my money, pocket any interest they make. I'm closing my accounts with this shithole bank. Buyer beware - expect to be worked by this institution if you're dim enough to start an account after reading this review. Completely miserable experience over 4 months and just when i thought it wouldnt be any more rediculous, i met the paralegal from the attorneys office they suggested (however the attorney was very graceful and easy to work with upon closing). Horrible attitude, work ethic, and sense of proffesionalism. The closing was also completely un orthodox. I do believe some people here do try their best, but that wasnt the case with the individuals i dealt with.
