I came in because I needed something stronger than Advil for my back pain. It was about 10:30pm on a Wednesday night. No one was in there so I filled out my paperwork and went right on to the back. I told them my ailments and was out of there with my prescription within 20 minutes. This beats the ER any day. I used to come here because it was convenient and usually empty but my experience has went down each time.

The experience was not only inconvenient but also demonstrated a concerning lack of adherence to current CDC guidelines and a disregard for patient well-being. My stepson needed a work note and a COVID-19 PCR test. Despite informing the doctor that everyone in his household had tested positive for COVID-19 and that he had begun showing symptoms, he was only given a rapid antigen test, which came back negative. Understanding the limitations of antigen tests, I requested a PCR test to confirm his status, as per CDC guidelines which state that PCR tests are the gold standard for detecting COVID-19, especially in symptomatic individuals. The doctor, however, incorrectly insisted that a PCR test is only warranted if the antigen test is positive. This is a clear misinterpretation of the guidelines, which recommend a PCR test when symptoms are present, regardless of the antigen test result. Antigen tests are less sensitive but highly specific. Therefore, if a rapid is negative and a patient is symptomatic, a PCR should be sent. Despite presenting this information directly from the CDC website, I was dismissed and told to seek testing elsewhere. This not only wasted our time and money but also potentially put others at risk by delaying a definitive diagnosis. The lack of proper testing and the dismissive attitude of your staff are unacceptable. I urge you to review your protocols and ensure that your medical staff are fully informed of current guidelines to prevent such incidents in the future. Patients deserve accurate information and appropriate care, especially during a pandemic. Update: my step son's COVID test was positive. This PCR test was done about 1 hour after your physician refused to test him.  Had we followed your physician's instructions, my step son would have gone to work on Sunday and infected his coworkers and customers. read more

I found the doctor to be extremely rude and rather crass. Obviously I'm here because I'm sick so when I sneezed during my Covid test and went to blow my nose, he told me I had to go to the bathroom to do that. When I asked questions pertaining to my symptoms he was very matter of fact and dismissive. I am very critical of doctors' bedside manner and his was severely lacking. Also, he prescribed prednisone, a steroid for the flu with no insight as to why. Despite this, it was a short wait time, the space was fairly clean and the staff were pleasant. The doctor alone is the sole reason I would recommend going elsewhere we're you'll be treated with dignity. read more

Horrible and a waste of time! If i had a chance to give less than a star i would! I spoke with a receptionist earlier to tell me that they close at midnight! I get here at 11:30 p.m. and the doctor is done for the night! I asked a second time if possible only because i wish they would get their hours correct! The reason why i stopped going years ago is because the male receptionist that they had before was nasty and unprofessional & Dr. Akonta wanted me to pay again just for an extended doctors note when i just saw him. My mom, RIP, and family have been going to this RapidMD Urgent Care on Merrick Boulevard near Springfield Boulevard in Laurelton for many years. I had occasion to go there about two-three weeks ago to see about an unbearable pain under breasts and didn't want to spend hours in an ER or wait to get an appointment with my GP. After exam and X-ray, the doctor on duty told me he saw nodules on my lungs, but no mention re the pain. I asked what nodules could mean; insensitively, doctor told me CANCER and that I should have my GP order an MRI or CT-scan to get a definite diagnosis. Needless to say, I was out of my mind trying to get an appointment with my GP asap which I did within a matter of days. Turns out, these weren't nodules and my GP explained what they were as he pointed out what was on the X-ray taken two months ago in his office that I had forgotten about. I digress. I was so shaken by the possibility of having cancer that I did not ask for copies of X-ray taken and of report on the day I went o RapidMD. When I called to ask for them; I was told by Maria, the medical transcriber, that they didn't have the capability to send X-ray to my doctor and I'd have to sign a 'release' to have cc of report sent to my email. Well, duh? If I have to come in to sign a 'release,' I might as well get the report right then. Well, I went to the office, picked up the report and had to take photos of the X-ray with my phone. Ultimately, I sent photos of X-ray to my GP. The Maria who works there is the rudest and most unpleasant individual I've ever met in a service-oriented job and, at 74, I've met thousands. She's obviously unhappy in that position and would best be suited working in a warehouse where courtesy isn't an important component to the success of the business. I will not return to RapidMD because of Maria and the doctor in question and will not recommend anyone do so. There are too many competing urgent care centers to accept unprofessional behavior. This doctor had the gall to write in the report I was not very clear in the description of my symptoms. My reply is the DOCTOR WAS OBVIOUSLY UNABLE to interpret my explanation because he didn't address the reason I went there in the first place which was the pain under my breasts. I am a Linguist and the one thing I know how to do is to write/convey a message. [This is Exhibit 1.] After sharing my experience with my brother-in-law, he told me he was also misdiagnosed at RapidMD. This misdiagnosis caused me great angst because I came face-to-face with my mortality and started to look at my will, finances and those kinds of things; and, most especially, thankful that my spirituality is strong and because of that I was able to fall back on my faith. This is serious stuff being diagnosed as possibly having lung cancer - a high mortality illness - when I did not. Worse though is the manner in which this was conveyed. Whatever happened to "bedside manners?" The positive comment is that the Receptionist and X-ray technician were very professional. read more

My mother had what we learned was a second degree burn. We went as soon as they opened, but were told "the doctor does not come in until 9:30." To our outrage the clerk said "we were here until 11:30 last night." So, as my mother sat their scalded, she was to empathize with the establishment who did not have the means to aid her in her time of need. First, the establishment needs to be open earlier than 8. Also, when the establishment does open, the establishment needs to be ready to serve its patients. No nurse was even in attendance, so this urgent care facility had no means to care for its patience at all, let alone care urgently. I am happy that my mom was able to be serviced at Franklin, but thoroughly disappointed that we could not be properly serviced by our own community. read more

This place is GHETTO this is my second time experiencing this establishment upon entering all seats were filled and people were standing all in the door way need to remind you COVID!!! I don't normally write reviews but this place was so bad I had to!! The doctor is suppose to get in at 9 am & didn't arrive until after 10 am. Then after giving his determination, antibiotics were needed & it took almost 4 more hours for the office to submit the prescription to the pharmacy. This was an ALL day disaster & patients deserve to be treated with more empathy & care. THE WORSE MEDICAL EXPERIENCE!!! This place should be shut down!! read more

Took my daughter in because she had an armpit boil....ughhhh she was in so much pain. There is no lengthy wait. EVERYONE in there is so pleasant. The first doctor she saw who drained the boil was very honest and told her yes she will feel pain but she was very caring with her communication. She let us know everything she was about to do before doing it. The assistant was so pleasant and caring as well. Went back after 2 days to have it checked and saw different people (we were told we'd be seeing a different doctor and different assistants). Same thing no wait, friendly, personable and you were free to ask any question. I hope as they get popular they remain that way. $85.00 per visit and you pay additional for whatever procedure is done. They refund you if you present an insurance coverage they accept. Went in around 10:30P and was in and out within 20 minutes. There was no one waiting when I walked in and this was my first visit. There was only one double sided form to fill out along with my copay. I went in right away and was seen by the Dr within 5 minutes of having my weight, blood pressure and temperature checked. Go elsewhere! Why post an opening time of 8am if you are not going to open so that patients can enter the lobby until 8:10 and the actual doctor isn't going to show up until after 9am. Don't open until you can actually treat patients. Several patients left because they were told that the doctor would not be present for another 30 minutes. Go somewhere that respects your time. Ridiculous. I was the first patient, lined up outside with a couple of others since the doors opened late. Didn't see the doctor until 9:15 because he wasn't there. Unprofessional and poor hand hygiene practice. I took my GF here for a finger infection. I witnessed multiple times by more than one member including the DR. of this location not washing or sanitizing their hands. When it was my GF turn to be seen, i asked the DR. if he can wash his hand before touching my GF. The DR. then told me he was not going to see my GF if i did not leave the exam room. If it wasn't for my GF being in pain at the time, we would have left with out a doubt. My advice to others please do not settle for poor patient service, prevention of infection is crucial. I've been going there for years. The wait time is minimum, very one is very polite, and professional. I recommend anyone to go there.

The Doctors see you hear fast and your out. The MA's Medical Assistants see you and they are very nice. The Medical Students or Residents come in to examine you before the doctors come in to examine you as well. $85.00 for self pay if you don't have insurance to see the Doctor which is really not bad. They have really sped up the process of seeing Patients here and they work with you until your taking care of. Doctor Striclen was the Doctor that I saw. He is very through but funny and he explains things very well. Doctor Samuel Okonta is also a very Excellent Doctor to see he is very through. read more
