Rick mentioned that his crew was preparing for holiday time off, but he was looking to fill their schedule with one last job. He offered me a decent discount on his quote in order to land the work - which was appealing - so I accepted. One the one hand, the work he did complete was timely, efficient, and well done. However, midway through the job, he insisted (or, demanded) that I pay him in full so he could make payroll for his workers. I told him that I generally do not pay until work is completed - which he then threatened to pull his men off the job if I did not give him money. I paid 80% of the job (much to my hesitation) that day and, thankfully, Rick's crew came back the next day and finished the majority of the work. I paid Rick the rest of the money based on his word that he would be back to finish the last 20% of the job, but I haven't seen him again - this was over a month ago (as of the time of this review). Two large plants are still sitting in my front yard a month later and my back patio pavers are untouched. And, there had been no communication from Rick about when this job will be completed. I realize it's my fault paying him (and trusting him) when I did, but it still stings knowing I've paid in full for an incomplete job. Rick does do decent work, but he was hard to deal with personally. And, after this experience, I wouldn't trust him again. If you hire Rick, be cautious of paying him before the work is complete.

The landscaping includes several beautiful ceramic pots with flowers and trailing vines. The fence has trained vines as a backdrop for the shrubs like azaleas and gardenias that are lighted at night. One of AJ's favorite things is moon lighting for the patio at night. These moon light spotlights add a special moon-like effect in a nighttime setting (not a glaring spot or flood light). Jay was the head of the project and thanked me for the project. I have to say that Byron's Landscaping cleaned up my mess and did a superior job! I tried doing it myself and had mounds of mud, cinder blocks, dead vegetation, weeds. Byron's Landscaping spent hours just cleaning my mess, then treated the soil for grubs that could damage the new sod. They meticulously leveled the ground and laid the most lucious Palisades Zoysia. It hasn't been smooth sailing completely, but for the most part they've done a fairly good and consistent job with leaf collection and lawn mowing. Things I appreciate: :: The customer service: Emilio is super personable and is super proficient in English and Spanish. For the most part he's been reliable and easy to work with. Instead of coming weekly, I am asking that Emilio and his crew make it every 2-3 weeks instead. :: The speed: They have many houses and lawns to mow through the day, so they don't waste time (#1). From start to finish, there are several people working in tandem and in just a matter of minutes, the bulk of the work is done. Some folks might not like how speedy the process is, but it's been solid work most of the time. :: The prices: For $30 for front and back, I'm not going to complain.
