Divorce is never easy. Especially mine. Ha-ha. For more than a decade, my life was dominated, or…read morecontrolled as I felt, by my ex-wife and her attorney. I represented myself for years, for dozens of hearings. Where did that get me? I was a ball of hate, anger, and rage. I could barely afford to live because of the amount of money I was court-ordered to pay to my ex-wife. When you have no control over your life, anger is the only thing that you can control, and boy, was I angry! I constantly lashed out in inappropriate and self-destructive ways. I felt that I was in the deepest and darkest of places, with no way out and no end in sight. Out of desperation, I decided that I needed to get an attorney. I reached out to a friend who is very renowned and highly respected in family law in Tucson. She declined to represent me as she felt it would be a conflict of interest because she also knew my ex. She recommended Lisa. I felt that I could not afford representation at that time. In retrospect, I could not have afforded not to be represented by Lisa McNorton. Lisa levelled the playing field. Did she treat me like the victim that I felt I was? Not at all. Lisa directed me to take the steps that I needed to take to gain control of my life. Lisa made me take all the classes that I had been court-ordered to take. Out of mercy, I believe, the judge previously had given me an extremely liberal time frame. How could I take them when I needed to work sixty-plus hours a week just to survive? I also felt that if I took them, that would be another win for my ex-wife. Well, they changed my life. Lisa ended up getting many thousands of dollars in judgements that were suspect at best, overturned. The money she saved me far exceeded what I paid to have proper representation. I have come out on the other side, after many years. I am a different person. I have been promoted multiple times at work, and I have returned to school to finally finish the bachelor's degree that I started over thirty years ago. If not for Lisa, I would still be paying my ex today, and for many years to come. I am extremely thankful for Lisa McNorton and for the positive effect she has had on my life. I cannot give Lisa anything less than my very highest recommendation!

A petition she filed alleged that I did not love my son and never attended his track meets. I love my son. I have videos showing me attending his meets and cheering him on. I regard that portrayal of me as false and deeply damaging. These allegations concerned my relationship with my child. I believe her filings contributed to devastating damage to that relationship. The consequences for my family extend far beyond money. The financial issue compounded my distrust. On December 3, 2025, she submitted a fee affidavit containing approximately $40,000 in fees and costs. Its supporting paperwork included duplicate billing entries. The paperwork also contained a handwritten confirmation figure that I understood to be hers and to indicate that the total had been checked. I objected on December 11. On December 17, the court directed her to clarify entries it observed appeared duplicative. On January 15, 2026, she submitted an amended affidavit for approximately $21,000. She attributed the duplicates to a QuickBooks problem, acknowledged she should have noticed them, and apologized. The court ultimately assessed $15,000 against me. The court made no finding of misconduct, and the State Bar later closed my complaint as an apparently isolated, corrected mistake. The explanation and correction did not restore my trust. I had to challenge a substantial fee request containing duplicate entries while also defending myself against allegations about my parenting that I consider false. Taken together, these experiences left me suspecting that financial gain mattered more than accuracy or the harm to my family. That is my belief about her motivation, rather than something I can establish as fact. In my opinion, this handling of the case was ethically unacceptable. I expect accurate court filings and carefully checked fee requests. My experience left me with no confidence in either, and I would scrutinize every factual allegation and every dollar sought by this attorney.

Mr. Rene S. Alcoverde Jr., was my lawyer in a family law case…read more During our consultation appointment, I appreciated that Mr. Alcoverde took the time to explain what the legal ramifications of the case to be litigated were and what some of the legal terms meant. Mr. Alcoverde was forthcoming about what legal strategies, he thought, would best support a positive outcome, but was careful not to over-promise anything. So going in my expectations were managed. The absence of high-pressure sales tactics in his presentation, his willingness to refer me to speak to another lawyer to help me make an informed decision on who to hire, and his calm and professional demeanor are factors that led me to retain his services over those of three other lawyers I'd already spoken to. Leading up to the first court date, Mr. Alcoverde was prompt with filing the necessary paperwork in court, sharing status update about my case, and answering any questions I had. The invoices I received from his office were very detailed and transparent. I never got the sense that he was using any gimmicks to run up billable hours. He was efficient in his handling of the legal matter at hand. During the proceedings, Mr. Alcoverde remained proactive and informative on the progress of the case, explaining how the positions of the other parties involved would/could affect his initial strategy. At the conclusion of the case, Mr. Alcoverde followed up with me and made sure I knew that he and his staff were willing to assist with any lingering questions I may have. Throughout this ordeal, I felt confident that, win or lose, Mr. Alcoverde was providing me with vigorous and competent representation, without resorting to vitriol to make his case. In the end I won my case and Mr. Alcoverde's help with navigating the legal landscape during an emotionally stressing time was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend using his services should you need legal assistance.

I had represented myself for the majority of my case and was very hesitant to let someone else handle the best interests of my daughter. Sarah couldn't have done a more amazing job! She was able to calm my nerves and articulate my thoughts and concerns better than I could have ever imagined. She really cared about what was best for my daughter. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Dealing with Brian, Lori and Thrush Law Group was the worst experience I have ever had in court,…read moreand I have been in court with my ex for 11 years. I normally don't write reviews as I give people the benefit of the doubt to do the right thing. They certainly did not. Lori loves to make threats, harass, blackmail, and hang up on people. She blackmailed me today, that if I don't make a payment in full ($6,000) that she would take me to court and put a lien on my home or else. Hung up on me saying, "well, let's find out then." This is harassment. She is completely unprofessional and needs a customer service class. Glad I was on speaker phone and my wife witnessed the whole conversation. Brian only represented me for three months, which they tried to charge me $13,000. FOR THREE MONTHS AND NO WORK PERFORMED!!! I gave them $5,000 upfront as the retainer and another $2,000 later and was surprised to get an additional bill for $6,000. He talked a big talk in our initial consultation but when it came to court, he just sat there and didn't say anything. I did ALL the filing with court and only needed a lawyer in court to be able to represent me, make sure things were not lopsided by the other counsel and know the rulings. He never filed any opening statements, never communicated (never answered my emails), got bulldogged by the opposing counsel and left us 15 minutes in an hour to present our case. Luckily, I knew the evidence like the back of my hand and ran through it quickly. If it wasn't for me, he would have lost. I would have been better off representing myself. He kept on insisting on this COBI counseling which costs $5,000 and even told the opposing party I would be willing to pay for it without my consent. This guy must have thought I was made out of money, because he sure acted like it. I guess if they want to go that route with their threats and blackmail, I will be contacting the State Bar of Arizona to file a complaint on their practices, harassment, blackmail and lack of communication and representation. And now that I saw the review by Jason two months ago about our personal documents being all over the local neighborhood makes it even more of a complaint. I received an email from Lori saying she had my file to pick up or they would shred it. Guess they aren't shredding any legal documents as the review states. They are crooks and unprofessional, go elsewhere.

"ITS A CRAP SHOOT"!…read more Those were the exact words, "It's a crap shoot", Cheryl said to me when I asked her what I should do. I hired her to represent me in my divorce back in late 2001. She did absolutely nothing for me! The original divorce decree ordered that I pay child support of $600/month, my son's medical insurance, 86% of whatever the insurance company did not cover, give up our home and all the equity in it, the land we had purchased and any equity. I also was ordered to pay $1K per month for 36 months. At the end of that time period I was then supposed to pay, are you ready for this, an additional lump sum of THIRTY SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! I have never had that much money in my life! Additionally, I had to give my ex our '99 Ford Expedition that was an Eddie Bauer edition and approximately $4400 in cash for her to take it back. All assets in the house were given to my wife while I was saddled with all the debt from credit cards and personal loans. Cheryl did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for me! She did not suggest I get appraisals done. She did not look at our tax filings. She folded like a cheap suit! It is now over 18 years since my divorce was finalized and I am finally about to payoff ALL the debt I was saddled with (once you go into arrears the State of Arizona charges you 10% interest)!! This ruined my credit and subsequently I could not get any jobs requiring any kind of a security clearance. I have been in more civilized bar fights than my "attorney" Cheryl Copperstone allowed to be done to me! She is the worst of the worst. She does not care about you or your case. Avoid her at all costs. Matter of fact you ought to hire my ex wife's attorney. Now she worked!

I would definitely not recommend Cheryl to represent you in ANY case. She and her firm are not…read moreinterested in helping perspective clients, they are only interested in the money.
