My best friend's adorable baby on the blanket
    Quintin E.

Rancho Tapo Community Park is top notch especially for families, kids and those who appreciate the outdoors. The have tons of grass fields for running around, tossing the ball, walking the pets and lounging about. Very nice spot for a picnic with plenty of parking. They even have covered benches and tables with BBQ pits though when we went the area was reserved for a party. The water playground/splash area is perfect for a hot day for kids and adults to walk through. I believe the water is on from 11 am to 7 pm daily with a small grab in-between around 230ish to 330ish for service and/or to limit water waste. There is also playground equipment, of course just catty-corner to the water play place. RTC Park has areas for all types of sports including baseball fields and an amazing pond filled with ducks you can walk around and take in even more of Rancho Tapo. The restrooms are pretty well kept up as is the entire park itself. Would definitely come here with or without my friends and their kids, but everyone had a blast. We brought tacos and juice laid out the blanket and the time just flew by. Definitely a fun outdoor area year around, but summer vibes are the best vibes.

    Splahpad

I came here solely for the splashpad and it did not disappoint. It is conveniently close to the parking lot and there is plenty of grass around the splashpad for parents to watch the kids. It is a single level splashpad which I think is safer for small kids. I let my two year old walk around without any issues. The splashpad is closed for am hour I believe from 230pm-330pm so that is important to know in case you show up around that time and are surprised. The rest of the park looks quite nice as well. It is very clean and very safe.

Great splash pad and park for families.

Very impressed with this park in Simi. Great splash pad, playgrounds and reserved gazebo picnic tables for large groups. There's a large fountain area for meditation and lots of trees. Bathrooms, tennis courts, bocce court, basketball court, grass to pitch up volleyball game. Down the road is the city hall, police station and lots of places to grab a quick bite. Highly recommend this park for all. There's lots of grass to relax. I brought my own chair and I'm glad I did, the bench seating is limited. Beware the splash pad is seasonal and doesn't run consistent through out the day, it turns off for periods at a time (felt like an hour, not sure) and the kids just don't understand why the water stops when it's hot out and the water fun stops...otherwise this is a good opportunity for a snack and restroom break. Surprisingly, the restrooms were stocked with soap and TP. Also, there are two outside showers to rinse off, yay!

An absolutely gorgeous park in Simi Valley! Here is what I love about Rancho Tapo Park: - Several standard length tennis courts - Two mini-tennis courts - At least 4 or 5 full size basketball courts - An exercise area with pull ups, rope climb, monkey bars and other training set ups - A mini-lake with a short waterfall - A memorial for our veterans - Two kids play areas. One for toddlers and one for slightly older kids - Running and walking path - Plenty of parking - Covered and non-covered picnic tables and some built in BBQs I love coming here and so do my kids.

Beautiful a fun huge, this park offers not only several recreational opportunities for visitor, like tennis and bocce (rare), it has a gorgeous military memorial with plenty of park benches to gaze upon. The only reason this was not a 5 star is the following: Not enough convenient bathrooms, a few shady/druggies hanging around, geese crap was all over the place (no fault of the park), and I wish the play area wasn't designed strictly for toddlers! Wish there were more option for the older child.

Simi has good family parks. This is a great park for the family. There is a baseball field, basketball, tennis, pickleball courts, kid's play equipment, water park area that opens during the summer months

I moved to Moorpark in 2001 and had no idea this park existed until two days ago, when my sister made the recommendation so that I could get some r&r time. Located right next to the Simi Valley Library and Police Department, the park is such a great place to escape the demands of every day life. I've been coming here on the daily to read, journal, and meditate. There are plenty of shady areas to lay out a blanket and relax, my favorite spot being right in front of the duck pond. The park itself is vast in space and very family-friendly. I imagine making a few rounds circling the park would make for a great workout, and the lack of hills would make it a fairly easy run. Glad this is just a fifteen minutes away from Moorpark....you'll see me often, Rancho Tapo Park!

Kids ride their bikes and skateboards and some people throw trash everywhere. This is happening at most of the parks in Simi now.

My daughters loves all of the different play equipment, from your traditional slides and swings to the zip lines and sports (there was a group of guys playing handball and they'd never seen it before but enjoyed watching). The biggest issue we had was that there wasn't a bathroom anywhere, so we had to make another stop before getting back on the road. It was a nice spot otherwise, tucked behind a quiet neighborhood.

There are lots of mature trees for shade as well as plenty of open grass (though it's very hilly). The park has sand, jungle gyms for kids of various sizes, a handball court, a basketball court, benches and tables. My favorite part of the park is the zip lines that can totally be used by the average adult too . What I don't like: * It's right next to a freeway which gives me concerns about air quality. * I don't think that there's a bathroom (I wasn't looking for one, so there may be one but I didn't see it.) * There's a bridge to go from one side to the other. However if you have someone in a wheel chair there's a post that would keep them from being able to get through. * Parking can be a bit scarce. It's tucked in the middle of a neighborhood. So there isn't a parking lot or anything like that. Another thing of note, we have visited this park twice. The first time we visited people were friendly enough. This last time, I got some weird vibes from the people who were there. No one really said hello. Then my son was playing on the playground while I changed my daughter nearby and some kids came over. When we left, my son told me that the kids didn't want to play with him and threw some sand at him. Unfortunately he told me as we were leaving or I would've addressed the issue with the mothers. I get that kids will be kids and I know how to talk to my son about not taking things like this personally. But I think it's important to add as one of the big parts of bringing your child to the park is getting social interaction. Of course this will totally depend on who's there, so YMMV. No

Upon arrival, I came across a couple of people that just finished. They pointed me to the first hole which is right off the street but it's not well marked, except for the short cement launchpad. I've never seen them so short, but still, I'm glad they have them. This is a 12 hole disc golf course. Some holes aren't marked at all. Fortunately, I was able to ask a couple of friendly locals for help and I used an app called UDisc. Even then, I searched for a while to find several launch pads because they weren't marked. One hole had no launch pad at all, just a bent yellow marking pole. You'll need a good imagination to figure out where you should launch your disc from that one. I'm pretty sure the disc golf course is maintained by volunteers so I think they've done a terrific job laying out a great disc golf course and maintaining it as best as they can. Some of the drives are from on top of high hills that will give you chance at some really sweet, floaty drives and you get a great view to go with it. You'll get some decent cardio in walking amongst the hills. Bring a decent pair of shoes for trekking the hills. Unfortunately, there are some signs of vandalism here and there which is a total shame. Didn't expect to see that in Simi Valley. The weeds and brush aren't thick in the hilly part so losing a disc or having trouble locating it is highly unlikely on this course. Also, there's aren't too many trees to hinder your drives or approach shots. It plays pretty well. If you're a seasoned player you'll have plenty of opportunities for birdies and maybe even an ace! There's a nice big grass field to get some practice throws in before you start your round. FYI, there are no restrooms, so keep that in mind. It was a great experience. Definitely worth checking out if you're into disc golf.
