If you come to Cancún, make it a point to come here. You get to ride through the jungle with pleasant company. The horses were adorable and our tour guides were friendly, fun, knowledgeable about everything in the area and of the horses. So you get instructions on how to get to the Ranch and how to get in, the road is a dirt road, so just be mindful of that and if you can get your hands on maybe or a truck or jeep, maybe that's a better choice than the rental Chevy Cruze we were in because it does get bumpy and messy. Once, you get in, the tour guides smile and welcome you. You're in good hands because they show you around, or let you wander and explore the ranch a bit. Sign your waivers, take some water, hear a little bit about the horses and how to handle them, and you're off in the jungle. Our tour guide was very informative and guided us safely through the jungle, whilst ensuring we had a great experience. And a great experience it was. One of a kind, worth it, unlike any of the other horse rides I've been on. And it was a pretty long one too. I've been on some where it was over quickly, however, here they take their time with letting you take your time to enjoy. Our guide spoke 3 languages, so we had. A little fun doing little back and forths in Spanish, English, and German. But she was fluent in those languages, so that's good to know. Last thing, the horses here are rescued. There are some companies that only want these horses to race them or to use them for tours (where they would be overworked, wearing the wrong equipment, etc.) so that they can make money off of them. The horses in those companies are abused until they can't make them money anymore and they are sent to the slaughter. Lisa, the owner of this company, saves them. She buys them and takes care of them. Hats off to her and the team that works hard to protect these horses. I think our guide said that there were 11 horses there right now. That is expensive upkeep, so if you're ever in the area, give them your business and help them help the poor horses. Everyone wins if you come here.

This horse back riding experience was the BEST part of my birthday trip to Cancun. If you're planning to go riding, this place is a must!! My husband and I did the private ride with the picnic. It was an amazing ride through the jungles of Mexico. Our guide Tim was really nice and a pleasure to talk to and Mary did a great job of setting everything up perfectly. Trino, the resident horse whisperer was also super nice but quiet. I love the fact that all of the horses and dogs there are rescue animals who were given a better life on the ranch. The picnic was super romantic and the whole thing was worth every dollar! Although I do have to admit there were a lot of bugs but what can you expect in nature, so just prepare for that.

My husband and I try to be conscious travelers, and, to be honest, were a bit skeptical of what I thought was a gimmick - a place advertising as a rescue to get more people in. We booked it anyway, as I love horses and I love riding and wanted to see what they were all about. I am so glad that we did and to have my skepticism squashed almost instantly! I emailed about pricing and the different rides that they offer and Lisa, the owner, was prompt and thorough in her responses. Up to the date of our ride, we were in regular correspondence, and when we called to ask for additional directions the day of our ride, she was available and helpful. My husband and I booked a private tour and we had two guides with us. The ride itself takes you through a jungle trail, there is a stop mid ride at a half constructed vacation property where you can explore a little bit of the terrain and see a little cenote.. A bit bummed that there was no longer the ability to ride on the beach, but we knew that going in and hopefully an opportunity arises for them to be able to do this again. My husband is more of a beginner rider, and I am a little more advanced, given that we did a private ride, there was an opportunity for me to go off with one of the guides to do a little cantering up and down a straight stretch of road. What I was impressed with the most during our ride was how amazing the horses were. These are not your regular nose-to-tail, dead on the sides and dead on the bit horses. The horse I got the pleasure to ride that day was Rey, a 14(?) year old gelding that was saved 8 years prior from being bait during bull fights. They would let young horses loose in the arena to warm the bulls up for the bullfighter. Oftentimes horses will get wounded from the bull's horns, and Rey had a scar on his hind from when a bull gashed him with its horn. My husband rode Inyo, a horse that was abandoned and found nearly starved. Rey was amazing. He really listens to you as a rider, and is so easy going, given his history. He had the smoothest canter and would slow down, speed up and translated your cues with grace and ease. Inyo was a very sound, quiet horse and my husband felt very confident on him. When we got back to the stables after our ride, we were able to give the horses a treat. And, fair warning, while these horses are very very well trained, some of them can have some bad habits on the ground. As with any new animal, I'd advise to always approach with softness and respect. Rey did try to nip me when I was turned away ;) All in all, this place is the real deal. They love their animals and all of their horses are rescues. All are trained well, and treated with dignity and respect, as all animals should. The guides were superb, and if we ever go back to Cancun/Playa we will definitely book another ride!
Best day riding horses. Rodrigo our guide was so kind. The jungle ride to the beach was incredible. We loved the two dogs that followed along. Beautiful weather. We love that they use rescue horses, they are so well cared for by the staff. I had never seen horses role around on their backs in the dirt but they did after the ride. Simply a lovely lovely day riding beautiful horses and it was a thrill to gallop on the Beach with these wonderful horses that were saved by the woman who runs this stable. read more

Wonderful experience ! Private ride with friendly kind tour guides. These horses are well loved and have unique personalities that shin. There's a horse for any rider I love riding so I was paired with "junior" who was the perfect mix of feisty fun and safe He was sweet loving and gave me the best experience. I ended my ride with the best little horsey nose kisses - my boyfriend rode their giant white stallion Chiqiuilin who is a great calm beautiful horse that gave a first time rider the security and safety you could trust a child to ride. The shall ranch exudes compassion and you see and feel these animals are truly loved and cared for. They're not over worked and they truly enjoy the time on the trail. They aren't programmed to do the trail and get back in a hurry as most rental style horse rides can be - these horses had fun showed massive individuality through their personalities and left us feeling like we made a true connection with our horses we had a great morning with wonderful conversations With our guide/ I'll be booking again and recommending this ranch to everyone ! Thank you again for a great experience read more

I am expanding my business into Puerto Morelos with retreats, and very much wanted to support a woman owned business who looks like she really cares for her animals, which can be hit or miss with trail ride places. Unfortunately this "trail ride" vendor is can't even be worked with to save a date for a simple trail ride and picnic in the forest, let alone actually let people ride. I am in the planning stages of the trip, so I don't have the actual names of guests, but in order to even reserve a date I would have to provide (get ready), all of their names, ages, exact weight and height so that BMI could be calculated. I can't reserve a date and pay for it in advance without names? She also said their is an age limit, which is not only ageist but ridiculous. She said that even if a guest was within the weight parameters, if their BMI was unsatisfactory they would still be denied a ride. Wtf? So Olympians who are well muscled and over their BMI because of an antiquated chart can't ride? And a seasoned horsewoman who grew up and spent her life riding can't either because she'll too old?! Please. The Queen of England rides and she is 92. I even asked if my clients could check a box indicating that they were over as certain weight limit, but of course that is not personal enough. I own a horse rescue and nonprofit dedicated to nurturing womens mental health with rescued horses, and I currently have 14 under my care. I've had horses for years, and the standard is 20% of the horse's body weight, with tack, can be carried. This shaming situation can easily be avoided, as I do at my own property. Looks like there is an opportunity for another riding venue in PM. Screenshot of email below. read more

The perfect place to go horseback riding. The horses' wellbeing come first at this place! While we were disappointed that they no longer ride on the beach, we thoroughly enjoyed the jungle tour. Our guide Steffi was fantastic-considerate and very sweet. We had all riding levels in our group yet she enabled the more experienced riders to briefly brake away from the group for a canter. She pointed out local plants and birds. At some point we took a brief two-legged walk through the jungle and spotted a cenote with some of its hiding inhabitants. We had fun :) read more

I really enjoyed racing down the beach on a big beautiful chestnut horse in my bikini.
