Well, I'm really "digging" the interior of this store - you actually feel like you're being transported back several hundred years; which actually is quite true, as this store has been around for a very very long time! Anyway, what I kind of disliked, was that the person who got my order ready, was quite a snob - very uptight British and made me feel as if I wasn't a worth customer. (Maybe he didn't approve of me coming into such a posh store with a hooded sweater?) Also, their website is really awful: I was trying to find out, where the store would be, but the website is impossible to maneuver through. It's all online selling, but there's no apparent link that will point you to where the actual store is! Well, thanks to Yelp I actually found it! So, three stars for this experience, but I might just come back another day again, as their selection of wines is incredible!

I went in 2 different times: saturday at 3pm and wednesday at 10am. Two completely different vibes. I tried the famous sandwich from the black pig, viral chocolate covered strawberries and bread ahead. Black pig - the best one sandwich: it was AMAZING!!! I was a bit scared to get this since i was by myself but let me tell you, it was not heavy as i expected it to be. Just delicious overall and would totally recommend. Chocolate strawberries: I love strawberries and chocolate but definitely think you can find cheaper alternatives anywhere in london. Bread Ahead: my new favorite pastry place. I pretty much got a donut from this place (not this location) everyday because the black currant cheesecake donut was that good. I got the tiramisu and crème brûlée donut which my brother liked and i wish i could've tasted them before they went bad but anyways, I would totally recommend the donuts from here! Their chocolate chips cookies are HUGE and delicious as well. This was probably one of my favorite markets!

The building and location were convenient and work space well laid out. The instructors, Adriana and Andrea, were phenomenal. I really appreciate how they took the time to explain technique and variations that can be applied at home. Also, the staff on hand to help with set-up and clean-up were amazing. They were always available to assist and contributed a great deal to the good experience. -I wish I had someone to prepare all my ingredients and wash dishes at home! My only complaint is related to the temperamental ovens. An oven can make or break all the hard work that goes into preparing a dish. Technique and materials went out the door with uneven, inaccurate ovens. Leiths offers such a wide variety of classes so I'll likely sign-up again...for a class that doesn't require an oven.

While the rooftop was booked out for a private party, we were able to walk in to the basement bar and enjoy a full vaulted, brick-lined side-room to ourselves. The basement ambience reminded us of Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street crossed with Gordon's Wine bar at Embankment. We ordered the: - Bananaquit (Mount Gay Eclipse, vegan egg nog mix, discarded banana rum, pimento dram) £10.50 - Rufous Hummingbird (Buffalo Trace bourbon, Nixta corn liquor, Banane du Brasil, cocoa blanc, sotol, chocolate bitters) £11 Both drinks on the bird-themed menu were excellent. The Bananaquit, a cloudy drink served in a Nick and Nora goblet glass, tasted strongly of ripe bananas and creamy eggnog. It had lots of nutmeg on the nose from the fresh gratings on top. For those with a nut allergy, you're safe: the vegan eggnog is nut-free. It was a sweeter drink (my partner asked for the sweetest drink on the menu). The Rufous, served on the rocks in an old fashioned glass, was clear and lightly brown in colour. It was served topped with two fresh pansies, and carried hints of chocolate cake and sunny garden, with a stronger alcohol essence. I had not come across sotol before and learned it's a Mexican spirit distilled from herbs, similar to mezcal, though I can't say I specifically tasted it. We enjoyed the ambience of our private cellar room and after our drinks we explored up to the roof (gorgeous space!) and around the bottle shop in the front room. There were quite a few tempting specialty bottles (Ancho Reyes Verde chile poblano liqueur, anyone?) and good gift ideas (Dr. Squid squid ink gin from Cornwall). In the end we didn't make a purchase, but staff were very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I would definitely come here again.

This time I went along with my husband to a special VIP event. Firstly you are greeted with some…read morechampagne (you can opt for juice if you want) and a vegetable soup bit later in reception area then you are led into the cookery area to meet the chefs. I met a lot of nice new people at this event in a fun way by which we prep food together. I say prep as I don't see cracking a egg, peeling mushrooms, slicing cauliflower etc is cooking. There is 4 working stations starters, starters, main and dessert. You are divided up by one of the chefs into groups (you cant choose your work station). You are then all given something to do be it peel mushrooms, boil eggs, crack oysters open, stir sauce etc. On the night we went we had the Autumn menu (Smoked Salmon Tartare, Lardo, Oyster Cream, Red Pepper Vinaigrette and Horseradish Mayonnaise AND Poached Duck Egg with Cauliflower and Cumin Veloute, Cured Duck Breast, Pickled Cauliflower and Wild Mushroom Powder AND Pan Fried Mackerel and Squid, Ratatouille Compote, Parsley Crumble, Black Olive Tapenade and Chicken Jus AND Plum Tatin with Apple and Pear Chutney, Caramel Gel, Chocolate Arlette, Shiso and Yoghurt Sorbet). There was a few items I did not like on the menu or was allergic to so they did swap some items over for me which was good. This was a fun night I loved meeting and prepping food with the new people I met and having a laugh with them. Whilst prepping you can help yourself to wine and snacks (hams and cheese) throughout to give you inspiration apparently. Also there is a camera on hand via Aveqia to take photos throughout night which is then uploaded in morning for everyone to download photos from to have a memory of their experience. So you don't have to worry about getting your phone mucky or running out of battery by using your phone etc. Also this way you will all get plenty of varied shots throughout the night of everyone. Usually this experience usually costs £180 each but thankfully for this special VIP event I only paid £10. I really don't think the whole experience is worth £180 each even with all the wine you get given throughout the prepping time and the wine you get paired with the dishes that you eat. I would go back only though if was at a more reasonable price say around £70 maybe. Reason I am however giving this 4 stars this time round rather than 3 in which I gave last time is because I felt the chefs were more humourous and more helpful this time and the company of the people I met at the event made it a even more special experience. So I suppose it also depends on who you meet on the night would make a difference to if you enjoy your time that night or not.

The course was for 3 hours over a Sunday lunch at a cost of £85 There were 10 of us around a swish kitchen table and owner/teacher, Jennifer proceeded to enlighten us with 3 different dimsum styles. To my horror I realised I had forgotten to tell her I don't eat pork. And Chinese food is full of it. So while everyone was chomping away and laughing and enjoying themselves, I was miserably devouring my cocktail stick. The next dimum was made with pork too. The third one was chicken - hooray. I don't eat chicken either. And that's really my experience of the day. I felt like a naughty school girl. I guess it was my own fault though. Jennifer is certainly knowledgeable but I found her mechanical in approach and I wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

The class took place in the home of Jennifer, our teacher, around a large counter/table. I liked that the class began with a cocktail and everyone got an apron and cookbook. During our 2 1/2 hour interactive class we learned how to make authentic Thai dishes. We began with a Tom Kha Khai which is a chicken soup in coconut milk. From there we moved to a minced chicken salad in wild betel leaf wraps. The main course was green curry with prawns and snake beans. From course to course, the class cut, chopped, and mixed. During the class we worked in pairs and Jennifer gave tips on knives and where to find various ingredients. At times Jennifer was a bit stiff, but she knew a lot about cooking and had spent time in various parts of the world learning to cook from locals, which I find is always the best way to learn authentic dishes. The best part of class is that we were able to taste what we cooked after each course. The only thing we didn't actively cook was the coconut rice, but she went through each step on how to make it home to perfection. We both really enjoyed the class and have decided to take others so we can learn to make additional dishes, now we just have to recreate the dishes at home to wow our family and friends.
