They do attics too…read more This winter I had giant icicles all the way around the house, and a lot of ice on the roof, triggering a leak in the front porch. My neighbors suggested I might have an insulation problem. Out of the blue, BSQ called me (actually, looking for my late mother) to follow up on older files and the sump pump in my basement. "Oh by the way we have now branched into attics and insulation." Funny you should say that.... and within a few minutes I had scheduled a free attic inspection. Before the agent visit, I received a detailed booklet by mail describing the need for insulation, the types on the market, and what type was appropriate given our climate. it also contained a mini survey of the problems observed, which the agent would later use to calculate the quote. The agent went into the attic and took a series of photos and measurements. He confirmed that my leak was not from any hole in the roof (there wasn't one visible), but from condensation caused from inadequate insulation. The insulation that was up there was the original when the house was built -- about 60 years old, matted and dirty, and not helping the house at all. He recommended cellulose that would be blown in; it would never deflate, it was waterproof, fire retardant and pest resistant too. And he was eager to correct the poor impression BSQ had made during the earlier sump pump installation. The installation took about 11 hours. I lost track of how many bags came out of the attic -- I think Petro counted 40.  They kept me updated with their progress throughout the day.  I was a little nervous about the front door open for hours on end, but fortunately there were no squirrels or birds or other unwanted visitors.  It was not too noisy, I was able to hear easily during phone calls. They did blow a circuit at one point but we went downstairs and figured out which circuit to reset. A display of plastic collectibles fell on the floor, but none of them broke.  After they left I saw there was a hook in the closet that got bent out of shape, and a small piece of sugar art broken. But these were minor issues. The team was also very good about cleaning up their mess, both inside and outside. The trapdoor to the attic is through a bedroom closet at the back of the house. They put down tarps on the floor, the furniture, the exposed items in the room. They took away all the bags of old insulation. I just had to sweep up a few crumbs afterwards, and put the shelving back. One heads-up I wanted to share: It took a couple of weeks to empty out the closet where the trapdoor is. There were lots of books and magazines on the side shelves, and I had never seen the floor of this closet. Some of the items were older than I am, and every single thing needed a new, if temporary, home. Definitely a positive experience, although the true test of the insulation will probably only be seen next winter.

I contacted Renovco for mold remediation work related to an insurance claim. Sandro came to assess…read morethe project and we decided to hire Renovco to do the entire project. Unfortunately, as the project progressed, significant problems began to arise due to poor workmanship and lack of competent workers. Without letting me know that they were going to gut the kitchen, Dimitri the worker, just dumped everything in opened boxes . they was dust in every box and all my dishes etc had to be washed. When I brought this to Sandro's attention, his answer was we will wash everything, which was never done by them. The ceilings in both the living room and Bedroom were not installed properly and had to be done 3 times. When they were redoing the ceilings, They took the furniture and just dumped it on the leather couches without covering them There was dust everywhere . As they were redoing the entire kitchen, the floor was installed first followed by the cupboards, counter sinks etc. Unfortunately due to lack of competent workmen, the sink pipes were not properly installed and leaked on the tiles which caused them to lift up And the floor had to be redone again. The backslash was installed and again poor installation. They were suppose to paint the living , dining room and bedroom . They just painted the ceilings and part of the walls, I had to fight with Sandro to get him to paint the doors or window sills/radiator covers. As far as painting in the kitchen again, I had to fight to have the doors painted His response was always, it's an insurance claim. I was told in writing that the project would be completed by June 15th at the latest. ( I gave the place I was staying notice that I was leaving on the 13 due to Grand Prix and I went to stay with a friend for 10 days as I had no working kitchen. The kitchen was finally completed in September . When I brought all this to Sandro's attention, his answer was, " in my 20 years working in the business, sometimes there are projects that do not work out the way it was planned and your project was one of them". I could not believe his response.i am extremely disappointed with the handling of the project as well as the quality of the workman ship! I tried on numerous occasions to contact Walter Assi the owner but he never responded.I think they took on more projects then Renovco had workers f.... On the day that the work was supposed to be done, the technicians came and said that they can not do the job, that they need to speak to their supervisor and then left. I tried to call Purlift back and was told I need to speak their production manager Mr. Alain. For over 2 weeks I called their number at 514.636.5438 , spoke to the receptionist and left numerous voicemail for Mr, Alain to see what we could do but Mr. Alain never returned his voicemail. Finally I have to call our credit card dispute center to have our deposit back and to cancel the contract, I find this is not professional at all on Purlift company.
