This grocery store pretty much has everything you need, if you're staying 3+ nights in PR it'd be smart to stop here and load up the fridge, room with stuff you might need the next few days. I realized Amigo is owned by Wal-Mart and they do sell a lot of Great Value branded items, which are the cheapest on the shelves. They have a butcher that makes fresh steaks and churrasco, which is a fatty cut of meat similar to a skirt steak. This cut of meat is a staple in Puerto Rican cuisine and Amigo keeps them stocked daily. It's such a tasty steak, especially when you serve it with chimichurri sauce! OMG! Anyway, this is my go-to grocery store here in San Juan. Did I mention they have valet parking?

They have a meat store with fresh meat delivered daily, fresh produce and a huge selection of every traditional grocery store item. Customer service is great and they often have great prices and special offers. Finally, they are some of the few grocery stores that not only carries commercial puertorrican coffee, but also artesian coffee, which is sometimes hard to find. It pretty much has everything you need. The wine, beer, and liquor section is huge. The produce section has items that most other supermarkets don't carry, maybe only specialty markets will carry it. That is the other thing. You can find lots of specialty items here, so you have less of a reason to go to a specialty market. The cafeteria is also very good. Great place to get some tasty lunch at an affordable price. The biggest downside here is the parking. It is always packed. Also, most of the shopping carts are old. Costumer service is hit or miss.
