I was referred to Dr. Padmanabhan by my internist. I did a lot of research online and noticed that he had several Google reviews, all except one were 5 stars. I read every single one and was very impressed. Don't know what happened. He was not a 5 star doctor. I went in with a lump near my neck. Every doctor I have seen about it said it was a lymph node, but Dr. Padmanabhan thought it was a cyst and that he could drain it in the office. A previous surgeon said it would be a 45 minute in-office procedure but was charging me over $1000 to do it, so when this surgeon said it wouldn't be that expensive or take that long I figured I would let him try. He numbed the area with a local and then immediately started cutting. I didn't feel him cut the skin, but as soon as he got past the skin I could feel everything! He drained it a little, but had to stop because I was in so much pain. He didn't even clean me up. I left with blood running up my shoulder. It was as if he was trying to rush what should have been a longer procedure into my 10-15 minute consultation time. He was running slightly behind and had about 6 people waiting in his tiny waiting room. Maybe if he had waited for the local anesthesia to actually numb things more it wouldn't have hurt. He put in a stitch and sent me on my way. No pain medication, no after care instructions, just wanted me to follow up in about 10 days. During the following days I was in an intense amount of pain for such a tiny incision. I was reluctant to ever go back, but I had to get the stitch taken out. When I returned he explained that he has done "10 million" of these surgeries and never had someone react the way I had. He said I "couldn't handle it". Well, I have had a number of procedures done while I have been awake. I have had procedures and stitches in my feet, my hip, my face, wisdom teeth removed, and over half-a-dozen stitches in the roof of my mouth and jaw from a bone scrapping surgery and have never been in this much pain. During all those procedures I never felt ANYTHING and was awake the entire time. So in his mind clearly the problem was me and not him. It was a very condescending attitude to take with a patient, so I guess I didn't get the great bedside manner all those reviews raved about. I might also mention that his office seemed very unsanitary to me. The ceiling above the table where I had the procedure done looked to have had very significant water damage, and on my follow-up appointment I noticed he kept gauze pads open right behind the sink, under the paper towels.
