The Sorosis Club of Orange City is a woman's civic organization that was formed in 1948 by a group of local women with the goal to enrich their social life, contribute to the betterment of the community and the welfare of children by supporting local improvements through civic and philanthropic endeavors. This is their 46th year putting this Halloween event on and it's a wonderful way to support the organization in their efforts. The Theme is Blackwood Castle which will take you back to the year 1348 during the grim days of the Black Plague, Spooky! Tickets can be purchased in advance online at https://sorosiscluboforangecity.com/haunted-house.html or you can buy them when you arrive at the ticket booth. There are several other ways to support the organization while you are there, such as purchasing a snack, drink, or meal. They have plenty of candy, chips, hot dogs, burgers, small toys, and decorations for sale at a reasonable price and all of the proceeds go to keeping the organization going. The members/volunteers working the event are so friendly and do a fantastic job. There must be 20-30 young actors working inside the haunted house, it is almost overwhelming because they all did such a great job with their costumes and interior decorations its difficult to take it all in. One thing to note is if you have sensitive ears, you might want to wear earplugs when walking thorough the haunted house. The actors are giving it their all (guttural screams and shouts), so just be prepared. Tickets are $10 for kids and $12 for adults and the haunted house experience is about 5-8 minutes depending on how slow you can walk through; however, there is a guide and a staff member following in the rear of the group, so they can, maintain a pace. In between groups, staff take small breaks so they can prepare for the next group. What is nice about this haunted house is all the staff are ready to go for each group. Unlike some haunted houses where you walk through and most of the staff is on break as guests are walking through. If you are looking for a great way to celebrate Halloween without spending too much money this is a great way to do it. The Haunted House is occurring between October 17th through October 26th (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Nights Only), and times vary depending on the night. And it did not disappoint I must see. As of 2024 the cost to get in is $12. Outside of the venue they have places to get your picture taken they have a couple of actors Freddy and Jason and a Moss man. They also have little toys you can buy for the kids. They have snacks and also food hamburgers and hot dogs. Plenty of parking and the adjacent parking lot.

I love looking at all the CD's and tools to see if I can find anything special for a great price. My wife has found several tops, jackets, and outfits here that were like-new at a very affordable price. Additionally, we have purchased treats, food, toys, and multiple walking harnesses/leashes for our dog on the cheap! On our most recent visit, around Thanksgiving 2023, the store had a sale on clothing; buy one get two free; the volunteers said it can be mix-n-match too, wow, what a deal! The store also had a 50% Christmas items, 50% off all small appliances, blankets, and linens. I also have to mention this store is a great resource to the community especially If you are living with or taking care of older or disabled person. We previously purchased a walker here in the past for a very low cost, and I noticed they had a wheel chair, crutches and other items that might come in handy when helping a loved one get around. On this day in Eustis, it was quite chilly out. A gentleman entered the store because he was cold and didn't have a jacket. He walked out of the store with a decent light coat for $0.50; amazing! I had a wonderful experience from start to finish in the Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. I will start with my experience in the bookstore and welcome center with the friendly and very in tune cashier Terri. She gave me much needed wisdom that I believe I needed to hear while on my spiritual journey. Additionally, I felt called to get one last reading and I was thankful that their was one medium accepting walk-ins today. That was Marla Chirnside, within a few minutes I felt extremely comfortable as she had very welcoming and kind energy. I was receptive to whatever message she had for me, and the message I got was indeed exactly what I needed to hear today and for the future moving forward. We ended on the topic of faith, and I find it to be of no coincidence that the blind date with an oracle card I got from the bookstore was the one pictured below. Thanks Terri and Marla! Prior to wrapping a bow on this review, the camp itself is beautiful and entrance is free. I explored and found the fairy trail and Seneca park to be peaceful and wonderful to sit and reflect at. I spent almost 2 hours on my own and the time flew by in a positive way. I would highly recommend visiting Cassadaga if you're in the area or looking for guidance.

I come here to unwind, relax and if I'm in the mood, do a little shopping. It just depends on what mood I'm in that day. They have a little bit of everything. From walks in the forest, two adventures in the Fairy garden, to buying cool, artsy clothing, and books at the Cassadaga bookstore, the list could go on and on, but you see what I'm getting at.
