Rewind back in June 2023 when the ER in Tacoma sent me home with a compression wrap and an ice pack and told me nothing major was wrong - then after night of excruciating pain my sister drove me an hour north to the Proliance Orthopedic Walk-in up in Tukwila (separate review - also a great experience, all things considered)... it was there they confirmed that there was at LEAST one break and wanted me to get an MRI as soon as possible, and once my MRI confirmed my triple-fracture and also identified the ligament tear I went looking for PSO. Look up a Lisfranc injury. It's usually sports, mine was just bad luck. I identified Dr Gavin Smith as an Orthopedic Podiatrist and Surgeon who seemed like a great fit. He took my case very seriously from the very start, they fit me in as quickly as possible, and once he got my MRI results he took the time to recommend both a surgical and non-surgical route for treatment - being clear the non-surgical did have a higher likelihood of issues from incorrect healing later on - but was genuine and clear that he was supportive of whichever route I chose. Once I chose surgical (which was 4 steel screws to be inserted into my Lisfranc region to stabilize and allow the injuries to heal properly for 12 weeks, then a final surgery to remove the screws with 4-6 weeks of additional recovery time). This sounded like torture but I was determined to see it through. I was right - it was sort of torture. There was a lot of pain and a lot of annoying times I couldn't do what I wanted to or I'd have to do the things a lot more slowly but I made it to my final surgery... now we are in the recovery window and I am 7 days post-op and starting to walk free of any aides and it's glorious. Yay! I can't wait to get my final sutures out and make my way back to full function - I am so grateful to Dr Gavin Smith. He has an excellent "bedside manner" - he is kind and personable but doesn't sugarcoat anything. He's incredibly knowledgeable and well-versed in his field and also super kind. I would recommend him in a heartbeat and if myself or any of my loved ones need an orthopedic podiatrist his office will be my first call. The staff here at PSO is also great - they run on time almost every time. I've only had one appointment where we ran late and they offered to reschedule me if I could not wait. The office is very clean, parking is readily available and free, and the check-in process is very smooth, especially if you check in ahead on your phone!

He was able to determine there was nothing abnormal, but didn't really have too much else to say except she'll eventually grow out of it (which we knew) and can continue or not continue activity at her own judgement. What I wanted to point out is the extreme pricing of the appointment. Be aware before you take any type of equipment from them or at least ask about cost of service/item. They charged $155 for a very janky night splint, where you can get one of much higher quality on Amazon or other sellers for a mere $25. The @15 minute "low-complexity" appointment was $250. The only thing not ridiculously priced was the radiographs, but these were still over $100. If you have foot problems, and are unsure if your insurance will cover all costs, you may want to shop around before you choose this location.

I have a wonky schedule, and the clinic has been flexible with my scheduling appointments as well. They have had a faster turnaround time than the larger clinics I used to go to (for reference: I established care with Dr. Schenoist within 1-2 weeks of my initial phone call. and if I had an urgent need, I could get in for an appointment within the week. by contrast- if I dared do that with the larger clinics like CHI Franciscan or Virginia Mason, I was waiting MONTHS for an appointment to be seen.) They saw my brother for a broken femur, which is obviously not a small thing, and from the moment we were there, the care felt different. The provider who saw him took her time, didn't rush through anything, and actually answered all of our questions in a way that made sense. You could tell she cared, not just about the injury, but about him as a person going through it. Same goes for her medical assistant. Super kind, attentive, and just easy to talk to. It didn't feel cold or clinical the way some places do. It felt like they actually wanted to make sure we understood everything and felt supported. Honestly, after seeing how they handled his care, I've been seriously considering switching my own care over to them. That says a lot coming from someone who's pretty particular about where I go. She even let me know that the practice would take the hit and cover the portion my insurance was supposed to cover for my splints if insurance decided not to cover it. I was beyond impressed with this place and would have recommended it to anyone and everyone at the time. It is rare to see a practice go out of its way to make sure its patients get the proper care, even if it affects them. However, after my experiences with the front desk, I do not ever plan to return. I received a bill that was over $100, which was not a surprise, and I was fine with. I had, however, asked to see the itemized receipt on multiple occasions and was not provided with this information as I had asked. One of the receptionists I spoke with the most about this itemized bill seemed to get very distracted easily. Before the itemized bill became a problem, he asked for my Instagram, and after I said no, he continuously flirted with me. I just tried to stay friendly and ignored it since he didn't show any harmful intentions. His flirtatiousness had only become a problem once the issue of the bill had arisen. He said he would communicate with my hand therapist about this bill and what items were charged, and he never once got back to me. I ended up paying this bill without an itemized receipt, which was very frustrating to say the least. After I had finished my therapy, I had come across another issue. Another receptionist had told me to ignore the bills I was getting in the mail, as I had already paid all of my bills. So I did, then found out 2 years later I was sent to collections for an unpaid bill. I had reached out multiple times to Bonney Lake Highline PT and even left voicemails with no response to find out if I was sent to collections or if this was a scam. I ended up having to go directly into the office to discuss this with one of the receptionists. He had confirmed that I was sent to collections and showed me the bill. I asked him to talk to his manager about how frustrating it was for me to be given so much misinformation. Fast forward to today, when I call collections, I find out my bill is nearly double the bill Highline sent in. I asked them to explain. They said that it was the full bill they had received. They hadn't added anything onto the bill, and we figured out together that Highline had shown me the wrong bill when I went in person. Once highline had sent the bill to colelctions they wouldn't have kept that in their reccords and so they would not have the bill to show me anymore. It has been a few weeks since I asked for the situation of being sent to collections to be brought up to the manager. I haven't received any communications or so much as an apology. I am beyond disappointed with their services and continuous miscommunication.

Dr. Grace and his staff refuse to bill my insurance. He is an in network provider and under…read morecontract with them. I have asked repeatedly that his office submit my claims as they are in breach of contract for not doing so. I have filed a complaint with my insurance company as well as the insurance commissioners office. I finally had to submit the claims to insurance myself. During my last visit, Dr. Grace himself told me that by not filing he stands to make more money because if I have to pay out of pocket, then he can charge full rate instead of the contracted amount he has agreed to with my insurance company. Hard to recommend a doctor with this mind set regardless of circumstances. UPDATE: Dr. Grace's office never did bill my insurance company, choosing instead to charge me the percentage of an L and I claim. The problem is this is NOT an L and I claim. Never has been, never will be. And they're charging me for dates of service where my insurance deductible has been met and so they would've been covered at 100%. I have had both a ruptured brain aneurysm and a hemorrhagic stroke, and have neither the time nor the energy to keep pursuing this matter. I would not recommend his office because of his underhanded billing techniques. If I could give him zero stars I would.
