First of all I love Dr. Jackson, makes me wonder if the negative reviews were from several of the same people. He is stern and straight to the point but with what I have going on in my mind and heart, I wanted brutally honest. If that meant him cutting my long dragging story on and on then hooray for him! No one else has managed to accomplish this. He was spot on with me and give me easy to understand explanations that other Dr's and therapist had dx me with. I called after getting home with a question, he personally call back. He didn't rush me and we didn't say good-bye till all questions! The assisting staff were marvelous at getting this desperate person to some help as fast as they could. Beautiful women! Thank you again Dr. Jackson for your kindness to me, awareness to my troubles, and (this is to the nasty's) for the kind handshake hello and goodbye. See You soon, read more

I've regularly had a great experience here. I started with Dr. Cain as my psychiatrist doing medication management and Dr. Dowd doing therapy. Dr. Cain was the best psychiatrist I've ever had, and Dr. Dowd was the best therapist I've ever had. Unfortunately, Dr. Cain retired and Dr. Dowd passed away. I now do medication management with Dr. Irwin, who is great for those looking for alternatives to medication. I would say that she is about the whole person rather than just a medication hound. (She of course prescribes medication, but she was willing to work with me when I wanted to go off antidepressants for a while.) The foyer was recently refurbished so that it has a cozier sitting area than before. The office staff are kind, especially the billing department. It can definitely be difficult to get an appointment less than a month out, and every provider has guidelines for the patients they will or won't work with. My recommendation is to expect that finding the right therapist is like dating--it takes time and sometimes a lot of repeating the same story to different people before you find the right fit. read more

I made the mistake of sitting with Dr. George Jackson and giving him more than once chance to offer help. Not one time in the 4 visits that I had with him helped one bit. What an unprofessional, uncaring, absolutely zero personality having excuse for a psychiatrist. He actually was nodding off as I spoke. Do yourself a favor and avoid this man. read more

Dr. Jackson saw my partner today and he was disappointed and shocked on how uncaring and unprofessional he was. During his appointment he was expected to answer health questions that related to covid 19, but saw that the Dr. was not wearing a mask himself. Dr. Jackson was unengaged and unfriendly, my partner left frustrated and dissatisfied. He will not return to see him and would not recommend his service or lack thereof. read more

Dr. Jackson is the worst psychiatrist I have ever seen. He was cold and uncaring. I came to see him desperately needing help. I left his office furious and in tears. read more

Professional and friendly staff. Clean office and reception area. Free wi-fi is offered as well. Your time is respected and you are seen at your appointment time. Usually no long waits. They only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because all appointments have to be scheduled far in advance. I assume that is because so many others have a positive experience and they keep coming back. There is a list you can be added to in case there are cancellations, so if you can be flexible you may get in sooner and not have to wait so long between appointments. read more

Been going here for a couple years. I really love the reception and my therapist is incredible. It has really helped me deal with my PTSD and anxiety, not sure why the other reviews are so low. They steadily have been improving each year and getting more streamlined. Remember therapy is like working out, you would not expect to be ripped after going to the gym once, therapy takes time and work and effort but the more you put in the more you get out. Stick with it and things will get better read more

If you can't handle someone direct and straight forward with you, don't see Dr. Jackson. The bad reviews for him are because people are taking his directness as rude or uncaring. I felt like Dr. Jackson cared about what I was saying and he really helped me. He's not a bad psychiatrist like some have said, he just gets to the point. He definitely intimidated me, but I left crying because I finally got the diagnosis no one else seemed to want to give me because they wouldn't listen. read more

If I could give this experience a big, fat 0, I would. But since I have to give them something, I suppose I will give it 1 star. I also went to talk to someone about managing my medicine because I wasn't sure if what I am taking was/is really helping. Anyway, this experience was not what I was expecting in the least bit. I was already apprehensive about explaining what I am going through all over again to someone new, but then when I met with Dr. Jackson, it made it all the more worse. And I knew it right from the get go when I first "met" him (wouldn't shake my hand, much less look me in the eye to greet me) that this was a mistake. Anyway, he was very condescending, judgmental and seemed very disinterested in what I had to say. He denied my feelings, meaning what I have been battling for quite some time, and told me I should get off of those meds completely (because apparently I am not depressed), but increase the dosage of my other medication. But he didn't write me any kind of prescription, etc. So that made NO sense to me. I won't even go into what else he suggested I do to get better because it was insulting to me personally and absolutely preposterous. I have never felt more uncomfortable and stressed in my entire life during that session and I couldn't wait to leave. I felt anger, shame and humiliation after I left. No one should ever feel that way after meeting someone that they are supposed to feel safe and understood with. I am not really sure how this guy even got his doctoral degree in this field. I just don't want anyone else to go through what I did because it isn't right and was a complete waste of my time. read more

My psychiatrist had recommended Dr. Cain for a loved one who suffered from anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, she was not available in a reasonable timeframe, so I stupidly accepted referral to Dr. Jackson. Had I taken 5 min to research him I would have seen his RateMD score of 1.5 and the nearly two year license probation. My loved one's medical and pharmacological background were completely ignored and they were prescribed a medication they knew to be ineffective against their wishes. Jackson was unwilling to justify his prescription, even though, as a medical professional, my loved one would have easily comprehended it. When I cancelled the next appointment with Dr. Jackson, the receptionist didn't even bother to ask about rescheduling. I can only assume this is common, as he has 3+ pages of complaints on RateMD all regarding the same issues, and these are the same issues for which he was reprimanded (source: Washington Dept of Health). However, I'm sure they're happy to cash the checks after the damage is done. read more

I have been a patient at Rainier Associates for over ten years. I see Dr. Fletcher Taylor for psychiatry and Amy Dwyer for therapy. I have a very severe form of bipolar disorder which has required close attention throughout the years. This office--including the supportive office staff-has seen me through periods of severe, life-threatening illness, three pregnancies, grief and loss, and more. My husband and I have gone through marital counseling through this office, and my husband has also seen another counselor in this office. I cannot express my gratitude for Rainier Associates enough. They have worked with me through insurance issues and allowed me to make payments when my bills skyrocketed in times of crisis. They have fit me into my doctors' schedules and put me on call lists when I needed to get in before my next appointment. I think many people come into an office like this expecting a different kind of experience, more like a hand-holding situation. If you need someone to talk to, I suggest you have both a psychiatrist and a therapist. You will benefit from having two qualified professionals treating you from different angles, through medicine and talk therapy. I know that I have needed both to deal with my illness. Finally, please remember that doctors can only help you as much as you are willing to help yourself. And just because one doctor doesn't fit your needs doesn't mean the entire office should be written off. read more

So far so good. The first meeting was a little awkward, but he has relaxed and has become more enjoyable talk to

I agree with every post here on Dr. Jackson. Doesn't even introduce himself. He is a "one size fits all" doctor who very apparently doesn't listen to the patient. He is awful; truly the worst doctor I have ever met. read more

Very disappointed with Rainier Associates. Called Monday as a new patient to get an appointment & was referred to intake or "Audrey's line". Left a detailed message but by Thurs. had not heard back. Called & once again was put through to Audrey. She answered & was not pleasant. Told me without apology that she had no prescribing doctors that were accepting new patients. Disappointed I told her that it was too bad no one had been able reach out to me to let me know so I could have looked elsewhere for a provider. I said I guess I would have to try to find a provider elsewhere then. Sadly, instead of making any apology or kind gesture she said "goodbye". Too bad. read more

A good friend of mine starting seeing Dr Jackson less than a year ago. She expressed concern to me that he wanted to take her off medication that she was stable on at the time. She also said that after one visit he told her that she was wrongly diagnosed and he gave her a different diagnosis. Her mental health slowly began to unravel to the dismay of her family and myself. Her family has tried to reach out to Dr Jackson to inform him of what's happening at home. He did not want to hear from them. He should have been able to observe her decline at her visits . She lost a lot of weight and cannot hold a thought. I have read similar reviews for this doctor and his actions are a prime reason why so many people with mental health issues wind up homeless. The families and loved ones should be able to work with the doctor. I understand HIPPA but it doesn't prevent the doctor from listening to the people who are living in the home with their loved ones and helplessly watching them unravel perspective. She is now in a hospital and I pray that she gets the help she needs to continue to be the wonderful wife, mother and friend she is. And I hope she never goes back to Dr Jackson! read more

First I would like to say that my experience was not fully the fault of the doctor's attitude toward me because I was haughty in some sense, and irritated for reasons I will list below. When I say haughty, I mean I told the doctor (Dr. Jackson) I was skeptical about Psychiatrists. Right or wrong to say that I was being honest. Now before I said this, let me start my story from the beginning. 09/11/2015- (Understand, I wish to be as objective as possible) I arrived 15 min early to fill out paperwork, my appointment was scheduled for 1 o'clock p.m.. I have a son that needed a baby sitter which means I am on the clock too. 1:11- The receptionist informs me that Dr. Jackson is running behind. She was polite, although at this time it was already obvious. about 1:20 Dr. Jackson comes out to get me. He looks at me and says "Follow me". Enter his office. No handshake was offered, and what I considered a social offense, didn't mention the fact that he was 20min late. During the meeting- Dr. Jackson seemed disinterested from the get go, unfortunately. It seemed like he didn't want me there, or that I was wasting his time. To be fair, I was unsure of being there myself but still wanted to explore the reason that I had made an appt. originally. Maybe it is his personality, or maybe the context he was in versus what I was expecting. We did have several quite moments where we just stared at each other awkwardly, though I embraced it. About 5 min into this disaster is when I dropped the "I sorta discredit psychiatrists and their field", though not exactly in those words (see above). I am sure this made me seem like a jerk, because it did. However, I had paid for 45 min so let us trudge onward into more awkwardness and unclear responses (on my part, maybe there should be a sheet to study so a person can better know how to answer the questions). I was asked- Do you feel depressed? Is there a more general question because this one was too specific for me to answer....(insert sarcasm). Dr. Jackson did seem very disinterested and uncaring I want to publicly apologize to Dr. Jackson for insulting him, unintentionally, but still an insult to his years of study. Dr. Jackson, if you read this, know that I wanted to email you but you did not have your address on the website. I am sorry for acting the way I did and ask for forgiveness. I hope that what is written above is more feedback for you than anything. read more

Called and asked if they were excepting new patients and my insurance. They said they were. Yay! Told them my diagnosis when trying to schedule and the lady immediately said "we are not accepting new patients." Very unprofessional. Discrimination??? read more

I requested an appointment with a psychiatrist, was paired with a psychotherapist instead. Not what I asked for, not what I needed. I just can only confirm their insensitive way how they handle patients, who need indeed help coming just out of the hospital. My spouse was diagnosed with postpartum depression, was seen in the hospital by Doctor Jackson, MD who is a provider at Rainier Assoc. After the hospital release a follow up appointment was scheduled with this office and Ms. Pooler, PhD. We scheduled all our errands around this appointment, were in the meantime twice there prior due to prescription approvals, etc. At the day of the appointment, today, my spouse drove down, I watched the baby, had to cancel business appointments for it only to find out that she was sent out without being seen by any "professional" at this place. Reason: "We don't take United Healthcare" Are you guys kidding me. We got prescription drugs by this MD, were twice there, he saw my girl every day for a week in the hospital and now this rude answer. The best thing of this "superior customer service" what these employees show is giving a "recommendation of a 1.5"x1" sticky note with the advice "see if they take you in". So much received insensitivity, rudeness and unprofessionalism for people who are seeking help is unbelievable and I just want to let this community know that this kind of unacceptable business acumen still exist. I would not at all recommend this place and hope more people with same experiences will share their story. Stay away from these rude people. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. I called to make an appointment, as a new patient, for med management only. They asked me what I was taking medication for, I informed them of my diagnosis, and I was told, "I'm sorry, the doctor that prescribed medication here does not work with that diagnosis." Excuse my language, but WTF! I'm used to ignorance when it comes to mental illness, but when the psychiatrists reinforce the stigma, how do we advocate for change? I'm stunned, horribly disappointed, and frustrated. You judged me by my diagnosis, and have no idea who I am. Thank you for your discrimination and disrespect. I hope this review makes you think about your decisions going forward. read more

Honestly I wish I could give George Jackson no stars. Please avoid this man and this clinic at all costs. My mother has bipolar stage 1 which is VERY serious. The only reason why she went to this clinic is because her old psychiatrist retired unfortunately and with seeing her she has been stable for over 10 years and on the same bipolar medications. My mom visited George Jackson once as this clinic and he didn't want her old records, said he would start off from scratch, and decided to change her medication and stated her old doctor was over medicating my mother. So, he did switch her medicine and two weeks later I find my mother in very manic episodes and when they get this way they REFUSE to get help because they think everything is okay. I have called George Jackson for 3 days straight, left messages, my family has left messages and he didn't get back to us when this first all started. He finally did call a different family member of mine 3 days later and she started questioning why he switched my moms medication and he hung up her. We still haven't gotten ahold of him ever since. We will never take my mother back to this clinic again, they absolutely did no help and didn't care for her. He shouldn't have his medical license and I'm absolutely shocked with other reviews that it seems like this has happened to others. THIS MAN IS NOT A PSYCHIATRIST! He absolutely is destroying families and has a special place in hell waiting for him. Please don't let him do this to your family like he did to mine. read more

Intake office had no idea what my insurance was and didn't care to find out. She went from saying "Oh yes we take that" to " no we are not accepting new patients" once she figured out that CHAMPVA is not the exact same thing as Tricare. So much for trying to help people who DO have insurance and need your assistance! read more

Two group doctors refused to allow the presence of my service dog, I am a disabled retired veteran and was referred there by the local military hospital and have been seen there for years, I've taken my service dog there many times in the past 3-4 years, apparently recently their doctors met and arbitrarily decided to change their policy and refuse access to all dogs including service dogs. I showed them the my service dogs registration tag, it made no difference to two doctors who apparently are staff-one is Dr Jackson. I love Dr Howell! She is awesome and very compassionate! However, I followed her from another clinic, and I can't say that I'm too fond of the office staff who seem somewhat emotionless and I sometimes feel like I am an annoyance when I stop at their desk to make my next appointments. So Dr. Howell gets a 5 + star review from me, but the office staff more like a 3 star read more

Well when I first started going to Rainier Associates I was scheduled with Dr. Thomas Roe who looks just like Crowly from Supernatural by the way lol. Dr Roe is an awesome guy and he really focuses on the issues that concerns you. I then was set up with Dr. George Jackson to handle my medications, now I had read about Dr Jackson's rep and was having a little anxiety over meeting him because the reviews said nothing nice about this guy.Once I met Dr Jackson he did not fit anything that his reviews said about him. He was like one of my Uncles. Dr Jackson was pretty cool and knows his stuff about meds and what to do or not do. I am into month two of my treatments, we will see how things go. As far as the Receptionist, they seem pretty nice but one day I called and she had an attitude. I guess everybody is entitled to a bad day every now and then. read more

I would have to agree with all the other posts on here. Dr. Jackson was the worst Doctor I have ever seen and I have been in the medical field for 15 yrs. Telling me I was not bi-polar that I was just stressed and depressed. With anxiety. He said He would up my medication for me, but he doesn't usually do that on the first visit. I will never go back and I will never send anyone there. The secretary was snotty and cold and the Dr. was just as bad. Indifferent and uninterested in anything I had to say, but He was quick to diagnose all my problems and judge me for my weight. Despite reading reviews on Dr. Jackson, I went to my appointment. I had spoken with an acquaintance who had seen him and said he was actually a good doctor. WOW was she off the mark. My meeting with him lasted maybe five minutes. He came to the waiting room, called my name, then walked towards his office. We got to his office and we sat down. He never introduced himself. I assumed it was him because I have seen his picture on the company website. There were no credentials on his wall. This man is awful. He is rude. Condescending. I told him how very anxious I was. Rather than try to put me at ease, he said, "Well, it's up to you to stay or not." Or something to this effect. After a few exchanges such as this -- where the "doctor" did NOTHING to try to HELP me, I decided to seek help elsewhere. I left his office hysterical. Sadly? The receptionist seemed not at all phased. As if they see this all the time. I went to my therapist's office (I had gone to Dr. Jackson for medication) for a TRIAGE -- that's how bad it was -- to calm down. I am reporting Dr. Jackson to my insurance as well as the licensing board. I do not feel this man should be responsible for people's mental health. read more
