I have been buying home school materials from Rainbow Resource Center for the past ten years. This is probably one of the best companies to shop with for homeschooling needs because they literally have just about anything and everything there is to need or want. I know when I need something that Rainbow Resource almost always has it. In fact sitting down and perusing their catalog can certainly cause a person to suddenly want or need lots of things they never knew existed until that very moment! The paper catalog must be at least three inches thick and at least 1 or 2 pounds heavy so imagine how many thousands of products that equals. Customer service is very helpful and will kindly assist in locating products to fit your family's needs. I have often shopped with this company to find specific resources for certain needs because they are so helpful. It can be stressful to be a busy parent who needs a certain kind of product for schooling and have to search tons of websites to find something. Rainbow resource makes it easy and eliminates the need. I have no doubt that if they did not carry it they could either special order it for you or tell you where you might be able to get it. I have never had any problems with ordering or delivery. Everything always arrives within a week of ordering unless there happened to be something that was back ordered. Also, in recent years orders that total more than 50 dollars are shipped free and that is really nice for homeschooling families who are spending lots of money every year for school items. There are always ample amounts of sample pages to look through for books selections and that is very helpful most of the time. Parent reviews of products are also listed and I have found them very helpful. The prices are better than or comparable to other shops carrying the same or similar items. I would recommend them to anyone who home schools, has a daycare, pre-school, or enrichment program of some kind. read more

Disappointed with customer service. Ordered a book for my child. Next morning my child said she found the copy she has of the book. I immediately cancelled via their email that they said to reach out to. They did not respond. I called two days after placing the order and 1 day after the cancellation email I sent. I asked to cancel the order. Becky at Rainbow Resource told me it's too late because it's already started the shipping process earlier that morning. She said she didn't see email from the day before in time. She said she can't do anything. She explained I will have to pay the post office to send it back to them once I receive it. She said I will only be refunded for the book not postage paid to send it back. She said next time I need to call if my email isn't responded to in a few hours after sending it. Basically, even though I reached out via email well before it hit the shipping process, I still have to take responsibility for their mistake of not looking at and responding to the email in time. They will not refund the postage paid to send it back to them. read more

I ordered two miniature kits on July 10th. They shipped on the 14th and received on the 16th. Very happy with this purchase.

Bad customer service. They did not send a confirmation email out with my tracking number, so I used their live chat. The lady was adamant that my order was delivered and sent me the confirmation status. The problem was, that confirmed order was for one back in June. I was messaging her about an order I placed July 25. I then asked why I wasn't sent an email about all this, and she proceeds to say they dont have fancy technology that flags emails that dis not send properly. Her excuse, they're a small family owned store with less than 100 workers. Well, hire more people, and maybe don't give your customer an attitude when you clearly gave out the wrong information.​ read more

I discovered their site while looking for puzzles and ordered a bunch in April. Time goes by and I get weird emails with little information about the "status" of my order, but it does say "backordered" with no date predicted as to when I will receive the items. I reached out to customer service via email several times. They showed little concern over my biggest issue which was - you charged me. You took my money. And months pass and I have nothing but mysterious "wait wait wait" from you. They can't tell me when I'll get the puzzles because they're waiting for them from the supplier. Well, okay then, but why charge me for something you don't even have to sell? Sketchy. At first they even told me I couldn't get a refund! I let another month pass before contacting them again - because, yeah, still... no puzzles. This time - it's July - she offered me a refund when I asked. And it was the same rep, btw. "Becky." Bad business. Poor customer service. Definitely will not attempt to order from them again. Save yourself the trouble and shop elsewhere. read more

Why on earth would you sell puzzles that you don't have in stock? Bad business, bad customer service and thoroughly unreachable by phone or email. i just want my money back. I would recommend purchasing school supples, etc. from Lakeshore Learning - www.lakeshorelearning.com is much better stocked and certainly excels in customer service. Rude. Terrible customer service and the return policy is bogus for the merchandise they offer. That's the last hundred's of dollars they get from me! Their site won't allow reviews of the products they offer if they aren't positive, 5 star, reviews so I can't even warn other homeschoolers about the junk they sell. Buyer beware. read more

I ordered a textbook but within a couple hours of ordering it I realized it wouldn't arrive before we went out of town, I sent an after hours message via their live chat function on their website to cancel the order since it was well within the time frame to do so per their policies. No word back so I sent yet another message early Monday morning. Tuesday evening I received a shipping email saying the order had shipped. I sent a third after hours live chat message. Wednesday I was finally able to cal, during business hours to sort things out. They claim to not have received any messages and couldn't have cared less that the book had shipped. The woman I spoke to, Penny, kept telling me how I should find someone to come to my house and retrieve the book that never should have been shipped and send it back to them since we will be away for an extended period of time. We're a military family and don't know anyone locally that we would feel comfortable asking to do that. She offered no other reasonable solutions. Guess that nearly $90 textbook is going to sit on my porch for weeks until we can get it. Now my only recourse is to file a dispute with the bank to try and get the charges reversed since the book will be destroyed by the time we get it. To say I'm disappointed in rainbow resource is an understatement. They made no apologies for the fact that their website contact form is non functioning and Penny repeatedly blamed me for not doing enough to follow up (three messages and a phone I guess wasn't enough in her eyes). We have six school age children and spend upwards of $1k per year with this company but no more. They're just not honest when it comes to owning up to a mistake and working to make it right. read more

We have been shopping with Rainbow Resource for about 8 years and have had great experiences with them. Their website and catalog are an education to themselves. They have consistently had the lowest prices when I've compared to Amazon, etc. They ship fast. Never had a serious problem with them and I have ordered from them several times every year. You can't beat the price, they undersell any other homeschool store online. I've bought from them for 10 yrs. I've even bought all my Christmas presents from them. A couple of months ago I bought some Key To...series workbooks and then realized I had them on a different shelf. I sent them a live chat message explaining and asking if they could cancel the order. No response for several hours followed by a 2nd standard email saying my order was received. I re-messaged them. I mentioned I received 2 of the standard messages, what I wanted was a message or an email telling me where they were in processing my order and if they could cancel it. No response. I was polite, I was hoping they would reach out to me whether they could cancel or not. Books came earlier than usual, (sarcastic face) but I never received a response. I looked at several books at their booth at the Great Homeschool Convention, but I decided to find another store to buy them from. I would rather pay a few more cents and know I will get good service than support someone who doesn't care to talk to me. read more
