There could've been multiple reasons why I had swollen gums but it was all over my mouth. Not just in one area. I made an appointment and had Dr. Chad Arakaki. I sat down on the chair, they put the napkin around my neck and he came and asked me what was wrong, I told him my situation. I told him I just wanted him to look at it. He put his mirror in for one second and didnt even look at my gums and said I need a full exam which included xrays. I told him I would come back for thise but just wanted him to look at my gums. He didnt ask me any questions and just shut me off and charged me for the appointment! He could've been nicer. He could've asked, are there any changes to my routines, changes in toothpastes. These are things that cause swollen gums. NO! Nothing! Just come back for full exam and pay for this one! I take care of my teeth pretty well. I know it couldve been someone new I used. I just needed him to tell me all the causes of swollen gums.

I will preface that I retired from the medical community after 20 years of service. I'm disappointed to see that patient care and customer service are not a priority in this office. I scheduled an appointment two weeks ago. I had to take 4 hours off to come to my dental appointment and to put it in perspective my wage for 4 hours is $160. First off, I did not receive an appointment reminder. I looked on the website an hour and a half before my appointment time to confirm my own appointment because the website lists they are closed on Friday's. Receptionist states they were open and I let her know that the website says differently. Secondly, I arrive at the dentist office "on time." Finally, Surprise. Surprise. Door locked. I called the office --once again -- because I did not realize there are two locations in Waipahu. It would be nice if there was a note on the door or the appointment clerk directed new patients to the correct office in advance. I will not be using this office for my families dental care needs.

I had somewhat…read moreof a tooth emergency and when I called to schedule an appointment they were super kind, great communicators, and were able to schedule me in pretty quickly. I went for my first consultation today and let me tell you, they use a lot of newer high tech technology, they are extremely thorough with checking each tooth and explaining what's going on, they not only share with people verbally but also show you what they're looking at on the tv screen as well. The hygienist, Janet, was so so nice and gentle - I really loved getting to know her better. And Dr. Koga was so personable, knowledgeable, and made me feel heard which is super important to me. Because they are so thorough you do need to come in quite a few times but I will say that they'll help create a customized plan for you on how to best take care of your teeth and the maintenance that comes with it.
