Mike Fox from Maine Proofing came out, walked on the roof, saw the existing patchwork and leaky vents that had been caulked some time ago. He agreed that there was enough slope for a metal roof. I chose a dark blue, standing (hidden) seam. I learned that the roofing was supplied by Maine Amish. I was happy to buy from a local source. Once the dumpster arrived, he and the crew got the job done in three days. The sheathing was intact and did not need replaced. I decided to have the shingles removed, and that was done. He and the crew installed new boots for the vent and caulked them--one of the old ones had a large hornet's inside! They installed a high temp ice and water shield over the whole roof. This was covered by a snap lock standing seam metal roof, 19 gauge, I think. They installed rake trim along the rakes and the gable ends complete with starter J channel, and Z closures at the cap installation, and used Geosill and butylene sealing tape where needed. The debris was cleaned up, at least 99%. I'm happy. I did not get the chance to borrow their ladder to take pics, but my stepson went up and confirmed that it was well done. Communication was poor, and I constantly had to monitor the work to make sure it was done correctly. Their crew repeatedly tried to cut corners, and if I hadn't been watching closely, they would have left me with subpar results. The most concerning part was that they attempted to charge me an extra $3,500 for work that was never actually done. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of me, and I had to call them out multiple times to get things corrected. In the end they still charge me an additional $1000 for an extra hour or 2 of work and a couple 4x4s in supplies. To top it off, someone from the company even offered me $250 in exchange for a positive review -- which makes me question the legitimacy of all their 5-star ratings online. I went with Mandette Roofing Plus because of their great reviews, but after my experience, I would strongly advise others to proceed with extreme caution. Unless you have time to take off work and watch them every step of the way through the repair, you're better off finding a different company that has a higher level of integrity than this one.

We hired him to paint the house, fix siding, and replace windows. Come to find out, the majority of the homes in our neighborhood all had the same structural rot issues as ours. Christer knew all about the rot issues that plagued the neighborhood. I became aware of the issues when the workers mentioned it to me. An honest human being would have warned us about the issues prior to starting the project. I agree with reviewer Paul C. that Christer's sales skills are effective but duplicitous. As with others, this was a "lesson learned" moment for me and my wife. 1) The paint job is terrible. Roughly, after two years, you can see the old paint job through the "new" paint job. A couple of spots were missed, which is totally understandable. However, I requested a "walk through" 3 times. Never got one. 2) The craftsmanship is inconsistent--some spots are good, whereas other are mediocre and sloppy. 3) Unprofessional: precautions were not taken to avoid dirt and such being tracked into the house. Moreover, work done in a bedroom involving dry wall never included covering up the bedroom furniture! It never occurred to them that dry wall dust was all over a child's bedding, clothing, and toys!! The effort to clean-up the work done in and around the house was terrible and sloppy. After talking to many in our neighborhood, their experiences with other contractors were far more positive and successful than ours with Mattsson.
