It's walking distance from the beach and the main strip. We parked our car when we arrived and never touched it all weekend. The hotel also provides bikes to rent but we found that most places are walking distance and the roads/paths are not very bike friendly. Check in was super simple. Our room was very clean and updated. I wish they had smart TVs to connect to Netflix but we didn't spend much time watching TV anyways so it wasn't a big issue. The restaurant did seemed to get a bit noisy at night which drifted up to our room. The breakfast baskets were a BIG hit! The frittatas tasted so good! The fruit cups were also so fresh. I tried the prosciutto croissant on our last day which hit the spot. The quality of food was top notch - just wish we were able to order more! I had an appointment at the spa as well during our stay. The spa staff is super friendly. I used the robe and spa slippers provided in our room and spent some time in the salt water pool and hot tub before my appointment.

But the room didn't have an alarm clock or sound machine that should have been normal for a place like this. While the TV had a very good range of channels, the lack of a sleep timer again adds to stars being subtracted. Not having a microwave in regular rooms should be a no no for resort hotels. The food was average at best. Nothing to write home about especially the quiche and the muffins. If they want more stars, it is the little things that matter.

While there were some great amenities, they didn't quite match up to what I was expecting. They recently opened up The Living Room area in the lobby which has breakfast in the morning and snacks and drinks in the evening. They also gave us drink tickets as well to use on coffee or drinks. Breakfast starts at 8am, but I am an early riser and was hoping for a coffee while I watched the sunrise. I did make a tea with the electric kettle in the room. The lobby/Living Room set up is perfect for drinks, not so much for a family having breakfast. They do sell local Michigan snacks, but you have to ask at the front desk and they have to find them. I would've just preferred a vending machine or an easier way to get snacks between 8pm and 8am when the Living Room is not open. The pool and jacuzzi were great, but we did have a hard time finding them. The indoor pool entrance was through an unmarked door on the second floor so it took us a few minutes of exploring to find it. I don't think the indoor pool was heated, but it wasn't too bad. The hotel is very centrally located so it was just a short drive to the beach, restaurants, and shopping.

No refrigerator in our room. No microwave in our room. I asked (I would have even paid extra for both). We stayed for 2 nights. Guess what? No room service for us. Want a bottle of water? None in the room. Gotta go down to the front desk to ask for one. No exhaust fan in the bathroom, which while we didn't mind that as we can wipe the mirror with a towel, we didn't appreciate the mold build up (see pic). I'm giving an extra star as the staff was nice, breakfast was decent and parking was free. Takeaway: this is a $150 per night truck stop hotel.

The inn itself is so well kept and thoughtfully designed. The grounds are stunning and so serene. We were able to take advantage of almost all of the amenities including a free wellness/yoga class, kayaking on the river, biking to the beach, the hot tub/pool, and even a bonfire at night. The staff is so welcoming and provide the most exquisite breakfasts with foods sourced from the farm. Truly cannot say enough great things about this place and can't wait to come back!
