I have been a customer for over 10 years and this past Saturday, June 26, 2021, I was totally disgusted with the blatant disrespect I encountered. So here is what happened: I went to buy a few items for an upcoming party the following day. After I pick out some things, I am now ready to try them on and choose. Well, "due to covid"...the fitting rooms are closed until further notice. I have absolutely no problem with that. I ask, "ok, so how long do I have to return the items I don't want?" and the owner tells me there are no returns, only store credit! Now, wait a darn minute. Lol. You are telling me, I cannot try anything on because YOU closed your fitting room and I can't even get my money back when stuff doesn't fit right? (because anyone who shops here knows, cheap ass clothes don't always lay correctly on your body). So I ask him this very thing. I wasn't rude about it. I just wanted to make sure he heard himself and attempted to help him understand the consumer's point of view. I failed, miserably. This "man" screams at me "THAT'S BEEN OUR POLICY FOR 30 YEARS AND WE ARE JUST FINE, DO YOU WANT THE SHIT OR NOT?" I was appalled and vowed never to spend another dime there. Moral to the story: We, as Black American Women, have to stop patronizing these foreign shops that so blatantly disrespect us. I know it may not seem like a big deal, but think about it for a second. If you purchase an item for 57.99 and have to return it for store credit only, unless you are getting the same exact thing in a different size, they are pocketing more money off of you. You will never find anything for the same exact price in there. Which means 1 of 2 things will happen: you will either have to leave money on the table OR give them more to pay the difference. It's highway robbery and they do it because they know they can. Any business owner with common decency would re-assess a policy that is affected by a pandemic. Hell, even Goodwill gives you a full refund (within 7 days) while the fitting rooms are closed.
