Raheny Off Licence can give me a right pain in the hole at times. For one thing, they always sell out of Dutch Gold, Tuborg and Bavaria in the middle of Friday and Saturday evening, so that stuck with the option of horrible Fosters, passable Carling or, God forbid, actually shelling out for expensive premium lager. Plus they never stocked Dutch Gold's short-lived 8 cans for €8 (remember that? For a while there we were really daring to live the impossible dream, weren't we?)
Plus they have those shitty open-face fridges rather than ones with doors on. Apart from being seriously bad for the environment (why cool the air in the shop?), these fridges don't actually make the cans particularly cold. At all.
On the upside, The Raheny Wine Cellar has started to stock Stoya. For those of you not in the know, Stoya is the only beer (that I know of) that is still available at €7 for six cans. None of this €7.50 for Dutch and Bavaria, €8 for Tuborg bullshit with Stoya. read more
