My wife and I were seriously considering a new house in this development, even though it's considered very strict; the covenants are so strict that they won't allow you to put a vegetable garden or a clothesline in your own backyard. However, upon looking at the house next door we found siding that was so rotted that it was completely missing in places and an old abandoned van in front of the house, stuck in the mud. Upon notifying the homeowners Association of this we were misinformed on multiple issues: unregistered vehicles are OK, the van really didn't have a flat tire and it was actually registered, etc. Since the real estate agent wanted to show us the house again and we really like the house that she's selling, I took photos of the abandoned van with the flat tire stuck in the mud, the rotted siding that's obviously been neglected for years, etc and showed them to the Inspector's boss, the Executive Director. Her primary response was: "It seems like I'm being set up". As a result we didn't buy the house. Upon leaving the Executive Director's office building, which is so close to both houses that you can see them from her building, we noticed a car parked on the lawn of another house three doors away. The Homeowners Association finally agreed to bring up some of these violations at a meeting of the Architectural Review Committee next month, but it took multiple contacts to make this happen. read more
