That doesn't mean…read morethis will beat a 5 star hotel - but for its 2/3 star level, it would be difficult to find better. But there are some flaws, read below. Rooms - Best ever nights sleep I've had in a long time. Quiet rooms, beds were comfortable. Aircon was very silent, and right temperature. You can't ask for more than that. - Table was a bit wobbly for work, so maybe not best if you need to do lots of work in your room. - Looks like recently renovated or built - everything was clean, newish. Shower was great, bathroom was spotless. - Wifi was fast and easy to connect Location - It is not in the city center, but close to the airport (less than 10 minutes by taxi, 24 euros). There is a tram stop a few minutes walk away - In the immediate vicinity there isn't much, only a McDonalds across the road, so finding dinner will be difficult Breakfast - Free breakfast with every room. But the choices were limited. Only "hot" food was a hard boiled egg. And not alot of fruit options, just whole apples and oranges. - However, the cheese, ham, bread, and cereal selection was good. As was the coffee machine. So if you just need a simple breakfast, its more than sufficient. Platinum benefits: - Got a room on the top floor, not facing the road, so that was good - Got a choice of 300 extra points or a free drink at the bar. Go for the drink - Nothing else unfortunately! But you don't expect anything else at a HI Express This place is perfect for an overnight stop. I wouldn't want to stay here for more than a night or two though, because it isn't the right hotel for that kind of stay. And it is probably only good value if you get a room less than 60 euros a night.

The front desk check-in had no interest in telling me that they could give me a full week parking ticket that would get me out of their lot for a small fee. Then when I did get the ticket, three mornings in a row it didn't work, and I had to leave my car in bad weather and block others in to get a new ticket at the front desk. And each time, the staff's attitude was either indifference or humor at my plight. Work meetings dragged on until 9:45 one evening, I had not had a chance to get dinner. I went down to their bar, where ostensibly they serve food until 10:00, they refused. I ended up ordering UberEats. I had two separate stints here in about a two week time period, separated by one day when I was in another city. The first time around, I had a 10th level room, the second time, it was 3rd level. The second time, I was not able to use the Executive Lounge on the 11th floor because I did not have a 10th floor room. It didn't seem to matter that I am a Hilton Honors member with a lot of points. Rooms, breakfast, and the gym were okay, but the inconsistent execution and lack of care for the customer by the indifferent staff leave me saying boo, Dusseldorf Hilton. Boooooooooooooo!!!!!

We booked three rooms and made very clear that we come with extensive photo equipment. Upon arrival, we were informed that the rooms in the first floor (not ideal, since our equipment is big and heavy) and that we MUST NOT use the elevators, as they had a huge function in the lobby and we could not load. We had to carry all gear up the narrow stairs - over 1000kg (2000lbs). Then, we had three rooms - and there was a major issue with the air condition. We were toasted in room #1 and froze our nose off in our retreat, room #3, which we had to give up using. The banquet staff - some I know for decades, were deeply apologetic and brought blankets and coffee and tea - it was really freezing cold. After we left, I checked back with sales - took weeks to get someone responsible on the phone - and I was told "this is the first I ever hear - and why didn't you check with reception (we did every ten minutes) and other stuff. I gave them month to compensate - no interest. If we had not booked our events already this fall, I'd never go again. Sadly, the rooms are rather meh too - we do not stay since years. A shame really, as otherwise the hotel works fine for us and our events.

This is by far the worst service I've gotten at any Marriott property. Traveling from the USA so most planes arrive in the morning due to time difference. Got to the hotel past 11am and the lady at reception without so much as a "How are you?" just told me check in is at 3pm and to come back later. She didn't even said the customary "I see you're an elite member. Thank you for your loyalty" speech. I'm not expecting anything free in life but at you seriously going to tell me that the "higher" status doesn't even get me a room ready by noon? You see a guest come to your hotel after traveling all morning and won't even act sympathetic? Didn't even showed us where the restrooms are. Just to leave or take a sit in the lobby where we have been by now sitting for the past 3 hours. I know which hotel will not be recommended to anyone at work traveling to Dusseldorf for business!

No local amenities except for a filthy kebab shop & a Shell Garage, McDonalds visible but impossible to reach across a motorway flyover. Had to return room service burger to reception for a refund- it really was that bad. Asked for NO Mayo & it came smothered in it. Female desk staff both very helpful but male managers totally intransigent & barely communicative. After explaining myself 3 times I refused to repeat it all again to the catering manager (Ali) who grudgingly authorised a refund. Took about half an hour to resolve a simple issue due to rigid authority & procedures. Front lobby is being refurbished- noise of hammering & power tools is clearly audible in the room- so no afternoon nap if you're jet lagged . Beds are wonderfully comfortable & TV has BBC1 & BBC2. If it was next to the U-Bahn or in the City Centre it would be a lot more bearable.

Wonderful hotel, So I pick my hotels off course by star…read morerating and how nice it looks in the picture. But man amazing place for a quick rest up before going back to America. So I was flying in from Abu Dhabi and before that Tokyo (yes I decided to circle the globe, I think everyone should do that at least once) and I landed in Germany because I've always wanted to drive in the auto bahn. So I got there picked up a Mercedes's to full throttle In the auto bahn but first I had to shower because having came from a hot place like Abu Dhabi, I smelled pretty bad. So I went for check in and the person who was in the check in had beautiful blue eyes and just a radiant face. When she spoke English her German accent was really sexy. It's not like Arnold at all as most Americans think Germans speak English. I was trying my best not to act like I never seen a beautiful woman before but that's how I felt. so I just checked in got in my room and on my way to the room I notice almost everyone working is good looking. I was like wow I guess if you're hideous you can't work here. I got into my room and the room was beautiful. And I think if you're there with a significant other it be rather sexy. The shower is see through and you can watch your sexy other shower while in bed. Bed is firm perfect for humping and wide to try adventurous positions. What sucked was I was a lone traveler. Next time I'm bringing a girlfriend... So after exploring dusseldorf I came back with some German beers chugged them down and mingled with the locals who were very nice and welcoming. After talking to them I went back into my room and watched motor racing which happens to be bigger and more appreciated in Germany than America. So do I recommend this place.... Absolutely.

We arrived fairly quickly as our taxi driver didn't waste anytime at all. Once we got to our room we dropped off our luggage & then we went searching for a casual place to eat nearby. We found a close by Italian restaurant no problem! Thank goodness I had the translator app on my phone bc everything was in German. We were in Düsseldorf Germany duh! We loved that this hotel was clean & modern. It had a Nespresso coffeemaker & teapot maker if we needed to make tea. There was a refrigerator underneath in the cabinets which came in handy bc we stayed two nights. We only had breakfast one morning which was great. Our room had a large patio so it made our stay very comfortable & quiet. Unfortunately our flight was delayed the next day & we could have had breakfast but we didn't stay. We would return here if we came back to Düsseldorf for sure! You never know...

That's okay. You just have to understand the differences. The bed was quite comfortable and with a room at the end of the hallway on the first floor (Americans would call this the second floor) and it was awesome to have a balcony (though not private) for my morning coffee. The desk was small but sufficient with power outlets. I wouldn't want to sit there for more than an hour. Wifi is unlimited and worked well. Bathroom was very nice though I really don't understand the European thing of the "half wall" for the shower. It's not just the water going onto the floor, it's also the air in the shower being cold. Not great! However, the water did get plenty hot and the heated tile floor was awesome. I did not use the hotel's breakfast so no thoughts there. When I checked in, I was told "We're only doing housekeeping upon request" and yet they did my room my first day. I left the DND on the door the second night and was not disturbed. The worst was not even our valid points of complain. The worst was the lack of care. No manager on site available and the staff just followed orders/given script . All we wanted were clean beds, towels, an AC ( since we knew the temps were high during our stay) and breakfast with coffee. Our booking.com price was right, but comparable with prices before Covid. It goes without say that we didn't expect that their Gym & Wellness area to be open ( and usually included in their rate) BUT: The hotel should have had enough time to be prepared to service guests. After they were closed for months and reopened for 1 month already - there was no excuse for their shortcomings. Especially as a hotel chain that advertises to be above standard. We all know the situation when you call a company for service (you paid for but didn't get) while getting the recorded voice & while on hold for hours: "Your call is VERY IMPORTANT TO US, please remain on the line until an available agent can get to you. Or press 0 to leave a message." And then when you finally get somebody on the line and state your complain, you get some scripted answer like: " I apologize for your experience, but....( I can't help you)" - That happened to us (constantly) throughout our 2 night stay. The standard excuse: Covid 19. Mind you, that I am not the complainer type and I can't remember to have ever written a negative public review. I also want to point out that I don't blame the (reduced) staff, but the upper management. One staff member told us that upper management made such drastic cuts on service to save money and that the few staff members working were either trainees or staff that were put on part-time. So, when the NH Group wonders why guests will start to stay away: Please don't blame the staff, but consider what you could have done better. Trying to save a buck on the expense of your guests will hurt you over the long run. Other guests of yours I spoke to felt the same way. 1. Reserved Room for 3:00 PM was not ready at 4:15 PM ( but if you stay longer than noon upon checkout, NH charges you 10 Euro for every hour). Since it would have taken another 1/2 hour until it was cleaned, we were given a different room. 1 king size bed instead of 2 separate beds we had booked. 2. Room: small & sticky (dusty floors). No complimentary water. 2 towel & 2 hand towels/ no extras for 2 people. 1 tiny bottle shampoo, 1 tiny soap. No plastic lining in the trash bin. AC light on/ but did not work ( as we found out during the night when we woke up at 3 am in the morning sweating. We actually went downstairs to catch a breeze outside the front-door). After we realized that the AC didn't work, we opened the window for the remaining hours of the night. * When we asked to switch rooms, after the front desk told me that in some rooms the AC works, but doesn't in other's - I was told that's not possible due to Covid and limited available cleaned rooms. 3. Coffee machine: No matter what kind/button you pressed - you never knew what you would get. Steam only, a little brown liquid, foam only or tasteless coffee liquid. 4. Breakfast buffet: plates that were semi clean (some of them still had an old egg crust on them), breakfast buns you knew they came from a pre-packaged bag that were supposed to be put in the oven before serving but weren't. Leftover Egg substitute that didn't get exchanged until the pan was totally empty. Dirty juice carafes. If you wanted cream in your coffee you needed to take it from the milk carafe next to the cereal, since non was offered at the coffee isle. 5. When we came back to our hotel room at 4:30 PM on our 2nd day to take a quick shower and get ready for a dinner get together, our room wasn't made. Front desk response: You didn't order it! HAEEHHH?! She continued to give me the Covid excuse. I said we have no clean towels and would appreciate if somebody would empty the trash bin. But since we are in a hurry, if she could send someone in 30 min. after we have left - at least we would have a clean room and new towels for the next morning. 15 min. later a very sweet trainee knocked on our door with towels in her hand. We took the towels and asked if she could come back in 10 minutes to clean, but she couldn't because her shift was over. O.K. - at least we had fresh towels or so I thought. 6. We got lucky that the night temps were not too hot. Since the AC still didn't work- we slept with an open window and it was ok. 7. Towels. The morning of our checkout my sis & I took a shower and just when we tried to dry/towel off, we realized the strong chemical storage odor on those towels: Disgusting! My next stay will be again at the Van der Valk OR Mercure Hotel around the corner.TOO BAD
