The conversation was almost impossible to salvage because of the gain issue. Also, there were constant interjections of "macbook sounds" throughout the file that was sent to us, such as popping, swooshing, and various other noises that come from deleting files. I hate to write this review as they were very easy to work with in regards to ironing out the logistics of the date and time. Unfortunately, we trusted them with our podcast, and it was ruined by Calvin the engineer. Absolutely infuriating.

The amazing diversity of programming and depth of this station can catch almost anyone's ear. What is refreshing, is all the people playing the music are volunteers, who do not have to follow a corporate format. You will not hear a loop of the same songs day after day. Each 1-4 hour show has their own genre theme, but beyond that can play anything within their theme. I am always surprised by something new every time I listen. The one issue that is troubling is that their federal funds have been cut by 200k recently. Since it is a non-profit station, they rely heavily on listeners to help support the station, and especially during their funds drive this month. I really hope it can continue over the years. Check their website for programming and take a listen. It's one of those rare gems on the airways.

Well yes, in conjunction with the excellent KEXP on the West Coast, New York City's radio station has become as hip as their TV station. Anyone who enjoys watching New York Noise will enjoy this radio station. I think I'm better with restaurant reviews, because I know that music is so subjective and requires different syntax, but anyway, I encourage everyone to give WNYE a try, so that the next mayor will give as much credence to the youth of New York as this one obviously does. Apparently, artists make free profile and upload music to the site and fans or listeners rate the songs to help choose what is played on the radio. Not only is this a great service to the musicians but an awesome way to find out about new music you might not hear otherwise. I have some new favorite bands I would have never known about without the indie darkroom.
