This is a great and wonderful place. I have been there to help arrange getting some narration and…read moreon-camera work done there for a documentary I have been working on. The staff there - most is all volunteer there and they are so kind and very professional. If they don't get it done right the first time they make it perfect before the end of the day. Thank you for all you do!

He gave us a tour of the facilities the day before the shoot and we got to see all that Fairfax Public Access has to offer. There is a large empty studio that we used complete with a huge green-screen wall or choice of black, navy or tan curtain (I think those were the colors). They also have a set that has a full kitchen--just like when you think of Food Network shows like Rachel Ray. I personally don't know all the terminology for all the stuff in there but we were all very impressed by everything. I felt that the cost for renting the studio to non-members was quite reasonable but I have no basis for comparison. We also brought in our own lighting and cameras but were able to use the studio lights with some assistance. Jerry let us know that members who take certain classes to train on the equipment are able to use the studios and everything free of charge (the membership costs $26 according to the site and you have to pay for the classes). Definitely look into this place as an option for studio rentals among other things.

Head & shoulders above all rock (indie) & pop stations I've heard in over a decade with only the best new pop & rock + classic hits + deep cuts. I confirm and echo all the 4&5 star reviews. I say "grudgingly" because the airwaves are full of crap. Every few months I press the FM button, and I want to bang my head against the steering wheel. Who wants to hear Rihanna and T-Pain every FIVE MINUTES? Really? You think Lady Gaga holds up to 30 listens in a day? Aughhhh. One magical evening, somewhere between Philly and Baltimore, my radio scan hit a 5-second patch of Neko Case. I quickly dialed back the station numbers, and there it was, 103.1 in all its unspoiled glory. I stayed glued to the frequency, sure this one song was a fluke. But then they played Talking Heads! And then Kaiser Chiefs! And then Bird & the Bee! A DJ came on the line and said they were taking requests. I punched the numbers in my phone. A man answered, and I babbled at him about how much I appreciated the lack of musical suckage his station was providing. He thanked me, and played my request ("Can You Tell" by Ra Ra Riot) 15 minutes later. I think I'm in love.
