To Whom It May Concern, I was deeply offended by a segment that aired on Dixon and Vining this morning around 9:30 a.m. on 99.5. The hosts were discussing young men who had gotten in trouble with the NCAA for gambling and fixing games. After mentioning a few names, one of them made the comment, "Can you guess the hue of these young men?" That statement was unnecessary, offensive, and racially insensitive. There was no reason to bring race into that discussion, and it added nothing but harm. If they wanted to talk about accountability or NCAA policy, they could have done so without targeting or implying anything about a group of people or culture. This kind of commentary leaves a lasting stain and damages trust with listeners like me. It was horrible, offensive, and disgusting -- a conversation that should be left for private circles, not broadcast publicly. read more

Been listening to this station back when it was The Morning Mess. I remember hearing Kane getting chewed out when he took over the morning show. Kane, (as he wants to be called) Sami (who I actually met) Sarah made things hilariously funny. There were times I had tears in my eyes. Hearing Kane scream SAMI, was great. Memories of Kane getting in trouble two or three times and almost being sent home. The infamous female intern taking a shit and putting her goods in the microwave. (I only heard the update about it. Would love to know what year, date and day this happened) The segment where women enjoy sticking their fingers down man's coin slot(s) (AKA buttcrack) to make them jump. My personal favorite was the birth of War of The Rose's (now called Roses)and Old Farts Hitting The Breaks. Finally, there was the celebrity who will remain nameless who was supposed to show up to the show and didn't,...was funny. The aftermath made it even funnier. I remember listening to this show as much as I could. However, I haven't been listening to the station as much as I use to. Was why? The music gone from bad, to horrible to hell no...now it's at the level of...turn that shit off. Also work just got in the way. I like intern John. His rise to stardom has been great to listen to. So has Eric's. I believe he replaced Scangela. I wonder what would have happened if Scangela had stayed with the Kane Show? Anyhow, I truly feel Hot 99.5 needs to mix up the music. 90's music would be great. Why you ask? Because back then people actually sang. This autotune thing annoys the hell outta me. Rapping with marbles in your mouth seems to be a popular thing, but it is not for me. Maybe I'm just becoming an old fart. Love love love listening to this radio station, especially in the mornings. I tune into the Kane show every chance I get. I especially enjoy listening to War of the Roses (new on every Thursday morning, with repeats I believe on Wednesdays). Man does this bit have me rolling each time! I also enjoy listening to them banter about different issues (although most of the time they don't talk about important stuff) and Sarah's dirt. What I could do without is Moron Madness! Yes, the songs they play could get repetitive. But what station doesn't?! They play main stream, top 40 music sometimes with a bit of old school. This is definitely my go to radio station while I'm driving! read more

Like most radio stations in the DC area, this one also sucks. When listening to Hot 99.5, one can expect to hear about 6 different songs on constant repeat... and then they'll play some song from 2006 and scream that it's "brand new and so hot." Shortly thereafter, they'll go to commercial for seven minutes. This station is a waste. 95.5 HD-2 calls this station, "Not So Hot 99.5." read more

I kinda dislike the religious undercurrent of Dawson's hotline at night, but if he's helping people then props to him... though Adam and Dr. Drew would out-do him any day. The music is a little too mainstream for my taste, but I listen in for the Kane Show. This area in general tends to lack my favorite genre, so I stay afloat by ignoring the Hollywood buzz and Sarah's fear of monkeys, and tuning in just for War of the Roses, traffic reports, and Sammy's occasional bouts of stoner genius. Never understood Elliot in the Morning's attraction, so I rely on Kane and his podcasts to keep me awake. Props to management promptness as well; I contacted the webmaster about a broken podcast link, who notified the producer responsible for resolving it. after reading sams' review in regards to radio stations, i thought i would add this to the mix.. HOT 99.5: hot 995 is not hot at all.. for one, they had this morning show that i just catch like 15 minutes of on my way to and from work, and it was aite.. amusing in those morning shows kinda way i guess.. there's some weirdo named teapot tim or something, and they make him do dumb stuff like stick his head in the toilet... so i meagerly enjoyed them because it was stupid, and at least the topics of convo were different everyday .. and then the station cut them randomly one day, and i just didn't like the new people.. .. on a regular basis their other dj's suck balls, because they are either too peppy and sound like they're living on the show the OC.. , or tooo retarded.. and they ask the stupidest questions for stupid people to respond to.. like "would you like it if your bf slept with your sister?".. and then these random dumb asses will call in and actually respond to that.. it makes me barf.. anyhoo, beyond the fact that these people talk way too much, and i hate listening to the chick that says, "Hot.. 995... HOT!", the music selection is seriously limited, and they only play the top 20 songs over and over and over again, which means that you will most likely learn all the lyrics to one song, within two hours of listening to this station. i guess that's great if you have a listening problem or if you need to learn the song so that you can go on american idol.. or perhaps to the latest most hippest karoake bars.. but i'd rather avoid disliking a song from being overplayed... sexy back got really old really fast. read more

Like many others, I only listen to this station for The Kane Show... Every time they go to commercial break or to play a song, which is fairly often, I toggle back to listen to my mp3s. Sadly, I have come to listen to one too many top 40 song on here (and one is too many) when I fail to turn the radio off fast enough off when they turn on the music, a rotation of the same "top 4" obnoxious songs it seems. But Kane is hilarious. My favorite War of the Roses! The morning show puts me in a good mood on my way to work. Usually they fixate on some sex related topic. As before: This review is only for "The Kane Show" I have recently started using this show as a sleeping aid. I don't know what happened. I liked the show for a while. I guess I became disillusioned when it seemed like it's the same voice as the cheating guy during their "War of the Roses" bits. I Googled around and saw a few articles on how the "cheaters" are all voice actors. And one guy specifically wrote about his experiences based on the direction/situation the bit wanted him to take. I do love their "Kane Skams". That was a nice addition to the show. Kane is a professional. He and his crew deftly weave in callers' feedback and experiences into their topics. I already miss Sami, but the new intern has been a great welcome. And whenever "Eric" becomes creepy "Derek" during the Kane Skams, then I know it's worth listening to. I don't really know much of Melanie, except some comments she has made have made me wonder about our education system. And as for Sarah -- I don't relate to her at all. Maybe I have a thing against the Millennials: I personally think she embodies her Entitlement Generations' worst traits. As for the rest of the show... I realized I started to skip past a lot of segments, especially that long, 20-minute DJ Elbows' segment. Nothing against his talent -- I listen to podcasts only for the podcasts. Whereas I used to download all 2 or 3 segments of the entire show, now I find myself downloading only the partial segments: Kane Skams, Sarah's Dirty, and whatever topics sound interesting. But most of the time, I don't hear the other topics, as I'm already asleep. read more

I like Intern John, I hate everyone else. Kane is a horrible host, he sounds like he's talking through his nose. They don't play music, they play ads for 15 minutes at a time, and the "show" is just about 30 minutes spread across four hours. I still try to listen to the show because the stories are interesting but I'm not sure why they have to spend so much more time talking about how great they are. Danni is not the first person ever to have a kid and be a mom? I often think she's somewhat lucky she gets to have a full time job and come home to her children before noon. And I really don't think it's necessary to hear about her job as a mommy several times every show. And then hear all of the others praise her for it. Drives me insane. I don't really know why Rose is even on the show...she just agrees with everything Danni says and has no opinions to contribute. If she has a personality, it sure as heck doesn't come out on the show. read more

Very lame radio station, the reason why I am forced to listen to this stuff is because I commute with my girlfriend in the morning, why does she like this type of noise...errr music?, beats me but I am starting having doubts about her IQ. Whenever I have the chance, I switch to my ipod or some good classic rock, even some other genre which can offer something good to listen to. Not only these guys are annoying and their pranks really bad, the music is esentially bad, really bad (if you concept of "music" is sampling, stupid lyrics and having your so called "talent" electronically enhanced, then this station is for you), also reviews about the kardashians, "celebrities", x factor and other non-sense. The dumbing down of America it's alive and well, that is really sad. I can imagine the target crowd are probably those high-maintanance clubbie wannabes with oversized sunglasses, attitude and "reality show" oriented or whose musical tastes are very messed up. The Kane show is great, I have never had a problem with it. Last night, though, I turned to 99.5 and it made me really mad. Someone asked "hey what do I do about a girl" and whoever was on interrupted him and started saying "dump her and hire a new one....ask the pimp for a refund....find a new service". I am no feminist I don't care if you have your opinions about women. I also think you have a right to say that on air, go ahead do whatever you want. I am simply writing this review so you know that because of that comment I will NEVER let any of my family, friends, or complete strangers I run into EVER listen to 99.5 again. That is TOO wrong on TOO MANY levels. and yea, I do like the Kane show. Its a shame that because of that IDIOTIC comment I will never listen to the Kane show again. I used to absolutely love the Kane Show! Every morning I looked forward to Kane, Sarah, and Sammi. I feel Kane is burnt out and no longer has the compassion he once had. He was funny and he seemed to truly enjoy his job and the callers. Not any more... I feel Sarah and Sammi must have carried the show because now I can't stand the Kane show for more than a couple minutes. To top it off the war of roses is fake. Makes me question their character. I only listen to the Kane Show, and this makes my day before I even get to the office. Everyone is funny, has me laughing in the morning, find some insane/interesting stories, and the skams/roses are entertaining. To comment on all the people who are disappointed about the repeat music, that is what a top music station does. They play the most popular music because that is what people are asking for. If you want to listen to undiscovered music, find an undiscovered music station. Kane and his crew more than make up for the repeated music every morning. read more

I am fairly new to the Kane Show, I'll usually flip back and forth between this and The Miguel Show. I listen because it can provide some decent entertainment, but mostly one of those things where I listen because i don't really like them and I like making fun of it. Kane's stuttering is ANNOYING. Uh, uh, uh...shut up. I feel like he thinks he's god's gift to the radio. That stutter thing he does though makes me cringe. Also, war of the roses can have its moments but it all just seems so rehearsed. Have been a loyal listener for years, unfortunately, ever since Kane's divorce, I am not digging his personality. He says things that make me feel uncomfortable. I've even emailed the show with my concerns over a few highly inappropriate things he's said, abs they were never addressed, and keep happening. In addition, Kane always seems to be flirting with women that call in to the show, that gets old, QUICK! I like the music, but some songs are too repetitive. Breakeven, Hey, Soul Sister, Bad Romance, Love Drunk, etcetera. The Kane Show is stupid. All they talk about is penises, annoying celebs, bras, and fart jokes. They are so dumb that they blind-folded one of their employees while he was driving their van, and he crashed into another car. The police got them into trouble, and they weren't on the next morning. They also make jokes about people who died, stating that if many people died, it was the "summer o' death" or "fall of fatalities". A lot of the music is good though, but they should play more songs from two years ago, and less from six months ago. My suggestion to them is that they get a new talkshow in the morning, and play more different music. Also, they are too obsessed with fur nightclub, and Sarah needs to stop saying "your bees-ness". Once upon a time, the Kane Show made the station semi worth listening to. Now it's just extreme commercial breaks between the same 4-5 songs, over and over. And the Kane Show appears to have devolved as well. It used to be witty and funny, but now it just seems to be trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator. You can be sure that there's a 90% chance that some "sex theme" will come up during your commute. read more

I love the Kane show. However, the music has become just horrendous. It was always repetitive with it's song choice, but now its becoming ridiculous. It always had at least two or three good songs that always kept me tuning in to what song they had on. However, the last three months have been horrendous. 95.5 and 93.9 have been much better. They have been playing things like Adele, Katy Perry, One Direction and all little girl teenage stuff. The song Mercy is huge everywhere and they barley play it. Where is some hip hop? What about the guys? This isn't England, this is America. Hopefully, this is just a stage and it will go through it. They don't even play any good R&B anymore. read more
