Dr. Rabot is great. I would highly recommend. He is fast, to the point, and empathetic. AND he called post surgery to make sure I was ok.

I've had 5 specialists consult me on fairly large infections in a couple teeth on my upper and lower jaw from trauma, including a consult at Az Perio. It was apparent that some places were highly motivated only monetarily, not even discussing my patient preferences, concerns or long term success. Many other places treated me as I was not capable of understanding my choices of care either. Understand that there are different routes you can take and different opinions. For example, one place wanted to just extract all of my infected teeth and place implants all on one day. However, If this method fails, it could end up going from 3-5 months healing time to over a year with worse infection or damage to the bone etc. I could read that to the other dental specialist, I was just a number crunched into his machine and not a person. Yes, some people hate dental procedures and find it very scary and one procedure is much more appealing than a couple or a few, but the risks are higher with that course of action which could result in much worse pain long term. Many places will also really pressure you to use anesthesia, that's fine as well for people petrified of a little oral pain, even possibly healthy pain because your body does secrete endorphins to alleviate it and I understand some people just have lower pain threshold, that is fine, my point is I was allowed a choice that was best for me. Dr. Schneider communicated perfectly what to expect if I did not go under anesthesia and he did not pressure me, he sufficiently communicated expectations and it was so easy and perfect. If you want to take the most prudent route, comfortable, and discerning care that is right for you long term, I highly recommend Dr. Brian Schneider. He is exceptional in skill and empathy. Because I have many issues with my teeth from an assault with a hockey stick when I was a child, I am at the dentist very often for routine cleanings and maintenance. I have to have at least one money tooth (front and center) extracted and despite that this should have been the worst dental procedure I've had, it was somehow the most pleasant. In absolute honesty, I've had so many more cleanings more painful than my extraction! I also really enjoyed my conversation with the Dr and assistant since I left my headphones at home on accident (just since l don't care for the grinding or popping noisy bits ;)

To note : The receptionist was amazing to speak with on every occasion and was very knowledgeable…read more Wisdom tooth extractions went well, but the healing for the surgery is a nothing short of terrible. The DDS MD didn't prescribe adequate medication for pain leading to several other avoidable problems.. eventually the situation was resolved but will reconsider another extraction here.

Dr. Velangi confidently said it was doable and I got on the schedule to do it. Dr. Roberts was phenomenal, he explained what I would feel/ expect from going completely out (as it was my first time) and wasn't wrong. Christian was great after I woke up making sure I was feeling okay safe, and explained what I was feeling (referring to the gauze in my mouth). He wheeled me out to the car and gave my driver some tips on the way. This team was great and even though I don't remember seeing Dr. Velangi I can say I think he did a pretty great job based on how I feel the healing has been going. Everything has been manageable with ibuprofen and ice packs.

I showed up and was immediately greeted by Brenda, she was so polite and friendly I felt like I've known her for years! The office is super clean, well-organized, comfortable and has a home vibe, I didn't feel like I was at the dentist. I saw Laura and she is BY FAR the most amazing hygienist I've ever encountered. She went above and beyond to explain everything to me that she found on my x-rays, while she was cleaning and even after to ensure all of my questions were answered. She is super knowledgeable and very thorough. She complimented previous dental work, which was nice to hear as a patient because you never really know what it's supposed to be like after. Then Dr. Lachot came in and was the icing on the cake to my appointment. He is very friendly, kind and also reviewed everything with me in detail and answered all of my questions. Together, they are a great team! I highly recommend Elevation Dental Group to ANYONE in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The Doctor explained the procedure so well and this made me feel confident in his ability as a surgeon. This surgery was intensive/complex and it was very successful. I have filed a complaint against Dr. Smutko with the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners. On February 11, Dr. Smutko performed a tooth extraction, bone graft and placed a membrane due to a sinus perforation evidenced on a scan my dentist provided. Dr. Smutko said I had an infection and that she had cleared it. On 2/13, I called to ask if the very considerable pain I felt was normal. On 2/14, I asked if an antibiotic might be helpful given that there was an infection. She ASSURED me I did not have an infection and that everything was fine, She said that an antibiotic would "only serve as a placebo."   On  2/18, I complained that I could not manage the severe pain with medication. She lectured me that it had been a "simple procedure," which completely contradicted her earlier statement that it had been a "complicated procedure" due to the tooth's proximity to the sinus cavity. " On 2/21, I called and asked for an appointment. On 2/25, again, I questioned the possible need for an antibiotic. I didn't know if I still had an infection but I did know that there was a serious problem. I had spoken to another oral surgeon who said I should have been put on an antibiotic immediately following the procedure. She coldly dismissed me. I asked if she didn't think it was possible that there could be a problem that is not visible to her eye.  She flatly said "no" but reluctantly prescribed an antibiotic. After taking only 4 pills over a 24 hour period, my pain had decreased substantially.   Unfortunately, after a few days, the pain slowly returned, now accompanied by the strong smell of sulfur (research will point to an infection in that instance.) I asked her if it was possible that the antibiotic which seemed very helpful initially, wasn't strong enough and I told her that now I was having to cancel my own clients for my aesthetics business I have owned for over 30 years and losing a considerable amount of income due to this situation. She completely dismissed me, actually rolled her eyes and left the room. I told one of her assistants that I was never returning due to Dr. Smutko's shockingly cold, dismissive and unprofessional behavior. She said that she understood, apologized and told me that "Dr. Smutko believes the body should be able to heal itself." I suppose that explains why the doctor coldly dismissed every question I had. She never took a single CT to see if there was actually an issue causing weeks of pain and suffering. She acts as though she is superior to her patients that their opinions or discomfort are of no merit or importance to her at all. I decided to get a second opinion from a new oral surgeon. On March 4, I went to see Dr. Nelson, for a second opinion. He immediately did a 3D CT scan and determined that there was a substantial issue, either mucus, infection or something in my left sinus cavity, which he called Opacified and Pneumatized left maxillary sinus, which likely explained why I was smelling sulfur and experiencing severe pain. He also checked that the bone graft wasn't contaminated, something Dr. Smutko didn't consider.    On March 6, Dr. Nelson performed a procedure to clear out whatever it was evidenced in the CT. Immediately following his procedure, I no longer could smell sulfur and miraculously felt no pain for the first time in weeks. Dr. Smutko had refused to consider, accept or scan for a problem. While under her care, I was left to suffer for weeks and had to cancel approximately $7,000 dollars of aesthetic procedures income I had on my books. Two different oral surgeons said it was negligent for Dr. Smutko to not to run a single scan for weeks following constant complaints after a dental procedure. Just one scan, less than 10 minutes and she would have had all the evidence she claimed she didn't have, to identify and treat my problem. Dr. Smutko is responsible for the worst medical experience I've ever had.
