What an experience! We arrived to a locked door on a poorly lit street at 5:00pm. It made us feel nervous! Our past experiences with Thai Foot Massages have been much more casual, a simple and carefree pedicure-like experience. So you can imagine our surprise when they asked us to remove all clothing from the waist down for a foot massage! However, they were very happy to understand our unwillingness to do so.
They put my gal pal and I in a shared room with two beds, and we laid down with low lighting and some calming music. At the beginning, they asked if we would also like head massages. We declined, as we assumed it implied a higher fee (and we already found 35€ to be on the higher end of a 30 min foot massage).
I was genuinely feeling nervous when we first arrived, and spent my first few minutes checking reviews to make sure this wasn't a pop up business that was going to kidnap me. It was nice to see on the website that they do not offer exotic massages.'
At the beginning, the masseuse Made an comment that we did not understand, and all four of us shared a much too long awkward laugh.
After the foot massage, without communication, they also gave us head and shoulder massages. We worried about the cost, but it was nice so we didn't stop them.
When the massage was over, we walked into the lobby and nobody was there. We called out until someone came to us, and told us the total.(50€, cheaper than we thought). When we got out our cards, they said CASH ONLY!
We offered to go and get cash, and she suggested one of us leave the other there as collateral. Already uneasy by the nature of the establishment, we politely declined. Then, we were asked to leave a card as collateral and pointed in the direction of an ATM.
There was no ATM, and we ended up wandering towards the Aqua Dome to find a machine. We wandered back and handed her 50€, only for her to say "no.... 70€" (the price we originally expected.)
All this to say... I'm not sure any of this is good or bad... it just, happened. read more
