The driveway looked very unprofessional. We hired South Coast Construction & they fixed our driveway & road below putting culverts so water can drain under driveway & road & into wetlands. Mike is extremely professional and made us happy with the work they provided. We now have a place to turn our vehicles around(which was promised from original contractor). I would definitely recommend this company for family & friends!

It is no wonder they are busy, and you must wait a bit to get in line for having your work done. Ours was an unusual situation, leaving both us and our neighbors in quite a lurch. Years ago the state re-routed driveways off a main highway and added a "street" for an alternate entrance to a few homes. The city annexed Eastside and took over where the state left off. The road has a water-board easement and other property owners, a street sign, stop sign, and is on city maps. Yet, city officials, politicians, and even the water board seemingly do not care if our driveway/city street literally falls off the edge of the hillside! We have battled every known official trying to get help for ourselves and our neighbors, realizing this horrific street condition should NOT be our responsibility. So... we begin getting bids to have the city street paved. The local bids were completely unreasonable for two property owners to split to pave a road that was not their responsibility to begin with. Three companies who came out and gave bids all assured us the road could not be "patched"... it must be entirely repaved. Finally... our neighbor contacted South Coast Construction, who came out with a VERY affordable bid to have the road "patched". Much to our surprise and delight, we got FAR more than we feel we paid for (even though it was never us homeowners who should've been paying to begin with). These guys showed up on a Thursday morning, and by evening, we had an entirely new road! They not only patched the major potholes, they did an overlay of the whole road, AND added a pullout for us to easily access our postal boxes. Though I obviously wasn't thrilled about being held responsible to fix a city street - we apparently don't belong to the "good ol' boy club - I was thrilled with the results, work, business ethics, and customer service offered at remarkably lower pricing than what we ever anticipated. Now I would love to ask the other 3 companies who assured us it couldn't be done if they are simply under-qualified for repair work, or if they too were just "trying to make an extra buck" by all the outrageous and hideous quotes. Thank you South Coast Construction for doing a superb job - going the extra mile unexpectedly, and at incredible pricing. We appreciate knowing there is still such a thing as "getting more than you bargained for" in business... especially locally. I highly recommend if you have any paving work, repair, or other construction needs that you save yourself a bundle and call South Coast Construction FIRST. You'll be glad you did!

Sam, the owner, and Sara, his wife and scheduler, were kind and professional during the entire process of having an external door put into our house. The quote was reasonable and communication was great when we needed a few more parts to complete the job. The end result was just what we wanted: a beautifully sealed exterior door. Sam and his crew were friendly and completed the job quickly. I can't imagine a more wonderful experience and Sam's expertise is obvious in his conversation, work ethic, and quality of work. Thanks Sam!

In the beginning I felt confident that this company would professionally complete the projects, but when Sam showed up to install my deck using pavers (normally a 'deck' is built with wood; the pavers were meant for a pathway along side the deck), I knew this was not going to go well, thus a wasted day with him driving to Roseburg to get the required materials. I had to remind him to bring paperwork (like a contract with the specifics and maybe a license printed on it like it should be, not proposal forms). (uh, this is Oregon...Not Texas), uneven when walked across, over-cut around the posts, concrete chunks left around the posts embeded in the mounds of dirt (should have been leveled out), screws up to a 1/4" deep...and then refused to complete the job with the shade cloth I bought for a cover which I had to hire someone else to complete. Then there's the front storm door installed that ended up striking the existing porch roof which he remedied by lifting the roof without even at least loosening the brackets that held the roof in place and left it that way until the next morning when I told him before anything else, he needed to fix. The brackets were ripped away from the house. He also 'trimmed' the three beams above so the door could be opened, which adds to the shoddy job performed. He then handed me the bump-closer kit and said I probably wouldn't use this and I said I would think about that but since the door would not stay closed with the slightest touch (my cats could easily open it), let alone the intense wind that rips across the property. I did a little research after having to request all warranty info on both doors installed, and found an Aluminum Storm Door Protector Chain instead which would be much safer, I was told I would have to pay extra. I also had another contractor come assess the issue and told me (as he removed and fixed the lock put together wrong so wouldn't lock at all; took all but five minutes to figure out) I should have my contractor come add another strike plate to make it close properly. After Sam's sudden and LOUD response to my refusal to pay the whole balance (I was going withhold a small amount to ensure these issues were resolved), flailing his arms in the air with clipboard in hand, it was quite unnerving. Communications to resolve issues were made by emails , "The spacing was done on purpose and I'm guessing you want to have exposed screw heads? Spacing was done based on you wanting to replace the porch you have now.. when I come I will replace that one board and turn over the necessary boards. Don't know when I'll be there. We will call when we have time." And this finalized my decision to never let this person near my property ever again, "You ruined a good day for us. It wasnt taken lightly. Who is we, your neighbor....lol? I have a full week so we will try to squeeze it in somewhere. I know the work is good. We don't do crap work, we did good work and did good by you. We just did it all too cheap." Cheap? I do not agree since you added an extra $900 onto my tab for your ignorance that decks are made of wood, not concrete pavers. And when a client specifies four times that the doors were to be installed first, most important, don't show up to start a job upon your preferences. Hopefully the Local contractors in Coos Bay County will heed my warning when they pass on/sub-contract jobs to West Coast Shower Doors because they should consider their own reputations when this company is performing such unprofessional results.
