I never had any auto paint done since owning my car, and my parents had paint jobs done decades ago by businesses that have since closed down. So naturally I was cautious on which paint and body shop I wanted to have my car serviced at. Enter Gil's Auto Works. They have 5 star reviews plastered on Google and here on Yelp. Looking at the reviews and photos here on Yelp, I was impressed by the work presented. I went in one day, no call in, just brought the car over and walked in to ask for a quote/estimate. Immediately I was helped by an associate (Robert Gil's brother) who went outside to look at my car. He quickly took a picture of the peeling paint, and the door jamb sticker in order to match the paint. He quoted me $300 to get the hood done. All under 5 minutes. Mr Robert Gil and I negotiated the price down to $250, and after getting quoted $600 at another paint and body shop, I took the car in about a week later. Mr. Robert Gil informed me that the car would be done in two to three days. Three days later I get a text that my car was ready to get picked up. I arrived after hours (the business was closed, but Mr. Robert Gil made sure I was able to pick up my car) and was greeted by another associate with my car ready at the front of the business. After handling the payment, the car was ready to come back home. When I saw the car, it looked brand new. Who would've thought that something as simple as fixing some peeling hood paint could make a 2008 car look like it just drove out of the dealership. The work on the car was phenomenal and the car looked much more sleek. I applaud Gil's Auto Works, not only for their craftsmanship, but for their unbeatable price and smooth customer experience. I would totally recommend Gil's, and for it being my first paint and body shop experience; man it was worth it.

After reading the reviews I towed it to Sam's, he looked over it and got back to me lightning fast and told me that the issue was with the Hybrid Battery and that it was still under a 100k warranty and that I should take it to the dealer. Thanked him, tried to pay him for his time but he wouldn't have it. Insisted he take something and I was on my way. Fast forward: Kia tries to charge me for the repair, called Sam and told them they wanted to charge me $$$ to replace the high voltage fuse. He said no, that's part of the hybrid battery. I returned to Kia and they eventually agreed it was under warranty. Least I can do for this absolute legend of a mechanic is leave this review and basically beg you to take your car here, you won't regret it.

I had them rebuilt my LT1 v8 engine in my Camaro a couple years ago, I only drove it maybe 1000…read moremiles since then, I drove it like a baby b/c I wanted to give it to my son. Things I've found, suspension bolts missing/stripped or hand tight. broken sensors, old plugs were used in the rebuild, they looked worn like 200k miles were on these things, gap was 65-70 when it needed to be 50. wires were old, I had red MSD wires, the ones after the rebuild were black generic, cracked and broken and were arcing. And to top it all off, car now has a major blown head gasket after 1000 miles? I am scared to even think what the crank and the rest of the bottom end looks like. He really screwed me. You'd have to be out of your mind to take any car there. He talked a good game though, but doesn't know what he's doing.

It was until a few months ago i trusted him to repair my my ls430. It was super expensive but I trusted him. You can do the math, I zelled him an extra $1000 as cashApp wouldn't let me send anymore because the amount of money I was sending him was too much in a short time(together including the zelle transfer i spent over $6000). And my experience has been really awful. After all that money my car's main issues haven't been fixed. He swears that the main issues(camshaft position sensor didn't turn back on until the day I got it back). I don't know what to believe. Some of the money was also for suspension and the suspension I think so far is fine. Lastly he offered to do an engine replacement for $2100 because as he said "felt bad for me". Part of me wanted to say yes, I called him today and wanted to confirm with that it was final price and that I didn't want to pay more. And that until the vehicle was repaired I wanted to keep the yelp review at 3 stars. His answer was that he hung up on me and "didn't want to play games". I feel over charged, and quite honestly betrayed. Anyone that reads this review please make your own judgement. But I hope the texts and the money I paid for speaks for itself.
