I have owned three pairs of Quoddy shoes. But let me clarify; years ago I bought one pair of Quoddy shoes and when the soles wore out after normal wear and tear I mailed the shoes back to Maine which they re-soled, polished and treated the uppers, and put new leather laces in FOR FREE, then shipped back to me on the other side of the continent. They were basically a brand new pair of shoes. Quoddy takes pride in in the quality and craftsmanship of their product and it's obvious. When the soles wore out again after a couple years I sent them back again with the same service, and then once more after that. Each time the shoes were sent back to me, a hand written thank you note was included in the shoe box from the people who fixed my shoes. If that isn't customer service, then I don't know what is. The shoes are top quality hand made and don't cost a fortune, especially considering the service you get after you buy a brand new pair. My chukka boots are going strong almost ten years after I bought them and if I do need to buy a new pair I'll gladly purchase them from them. read more

I have been interested in purchasing a pair of custom order bluchers for some time yet was unsure of my size. I contacted Quoddy recently and was advised to provide certain measurements so that they could properly advise on size. I did same day I spoke with them. They initially said a couple of days turn around time yet it is going on a week and still no word. Quoddy's are incredible shoes made right here in the USA. There isn't a lot still made here in the US that you can wear. This is one of those products and it exceeded my expectations. I try to buy as much US made stuff to wear as possible. They offer tons of different types of shoes from moccasins to boat shoes to chukka boots. If you can dream it up and they've got the leather to make it, they'll make it for you. This of course takes time and is something that adds to the experience of buying something custom. They're not cheap...most people would say ~$225 for a pair of shoes is a lot. They're right...but these will last for a long long time and they're not another pair of disposable shoes. They'll re-sole them for $30. I haven't had a chance to visit the factory, but the next time I'm down east I most certainly will try. read more

Incredible craftsmanship. I have a pair of Blutchers for summer and Chukka boots for winter. They're my favorite company for footwear. Their style is low profile and the Blutchers especially are so versatile. You could wear them with jeans and be casual or you could easily dress them up. Super classy. In terms of customer service. Ask for Elizabeth. She is prompt and absolutely thorough. Experienced customer service quite a bit because every few years you can send your shoes in and get them resoled. AMAZING.
