My wife and I decided to visit El Fogon on Saturday evening for dinner…read more We order two margaritas and both were terrible for $190 pesos. Then we decided to share an order of braised pork shanks, and the shank was tender, but lacked flavour? The plate came with a tiny bit of red bean puree, small portion of tossed salad and a small basket of tortillas. Very poor value and although the pork was plentiful, the relation to the plate accompaniments was very poor! The worst was table tops were covered in tiny spiders, the tile edges were broken or chipped away. The flies were everywhere! Most of the plates were left upside down on each table, with the edges of the plates chipped and broken, plus the spiders for good luck! We also order some ice cream for dessert and they informed us, they didn't have what we wanted so we declined the order. $419 pesos for a very bad experience! Will likely never return as the place is dirty and poorly managed!

La Vena is the quintessential beach palapa restaurant. It is very popular with the sailors and…read morepowerboaters who anchor in the protected anchorage out front and dinghy or swim in. Some customers also walk down the beach from Los Angeles Locos, the hotel that controls access by land. Visitors by car follow the hotel signs and then drive past the hotel down the beach road and park in the palms and walk back to La Vena. If you come by car you can only get through the hotel Gates sorting open hours at the restaurant, and you may be required to leave your license and show your receipt when you exit. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. All depends on the mood of the guard. So after getting you worried about access, let me assure you that it will be worth it. The restaurant has been run by the same family for the 15 years that we have been visiting Tenacatita. The menu is small and simple and is all local. They are well known for their Rollo del Mar, fish wrapped around shrimp with a rich sauce. Their empanadas de camerones are my favorite. Three large empanadas in an order. Plenty for two normal appetites. I've cold beers, good margaritas, agua minerales and assorted soft drinks make a great place to spend a few hours as the breezes blow through the palapa. Great beach for swimming too with changing room and a fresh water shower

The place was on beach, it was open setting, lots of tables and chairs, people dining in, food looked yummy, good seafood menu, good prices, and staff were inviting and friendly. Only thing missing was music. An important factor to any restaurant's ambience. So, all we wanted was little seafood fix and some michelada drinks. The michelada was the bomb. It was a lot to drink. Actually, I couldn't finish it. Food was good, no complaints. However, if I wanted to be nit picky, the shrimp ceviche could use a little bit more lime. It was missing the ceviche kick. Both male and female servers were good ! I would return to Las Chozas. However, I would like to try out other seafood restaurants in the area first. Give others a try ;) Suggestion to owner: in case it's not in the works, a guard rail should be installed around the perimeter of the dining area for safety reasons. A fall is never a good thing.

Free parking and restaurant was located right next door to outdoor shops. There were lots of tables and chairs inside the restaurant to choose from including on the beach. Our traveling group decided to have lunch on the beach. It was a good day with perfect weather and beach massage to top off, after our meal. For the most part, the dishes we selected were favorable. I had ordered a large campenchana which included only shrimp and octopus. It had other basic fixings, it was missing the zest and spark that I'm use to in my campenchana. I ended up adding some ketchup and limes. My friend ordered tuna tower. I have never seen such an extra large size. It was definitely a stand out, especially for the price. I had to try a sample and I would say it was more on the bland side. It looked good but missing a kick. Both my campenchana and the tuna tower needed a little more flavor. Another standout were the empanadas. Large in size and tasty. All other dishes were good. The dozen order of clams were surprisingly on the small size. We expected more. The taste was good. We had one server, Nayelly, who took care of our group of 8. No issues. Overall experience at El Huachinango was good. A should-try
