We were walking by Sumo when I suddenly grew very interested in another way in which to eat too much dulce de leche. * Dulce de Leche was great, as you might expect - smokier than some other shops' versions. This is the one must-get if you find yourself here. * Super Sambayon Italiano was TOO STRONG. I couldn't finish it. It tasted like a particularly tragic time when I made sambayon (i.e. zabaglione) but cooked the custard too quickly, and poured in way too much marsala to try to thin it out. (The end result was less than pleasant but I still served it to people anyway, heh heh...) * Limon al Champagne was really nice, smooth and a little fizzy. There are tons of sizes available and you can mix and match flavors. If you buy a kilo of helado, they have an ongoing promotion where you get 1/4 kilo free. The cafe is primarily a heladeria and has the sterile air of one, but they also serve coffee and medialunas. I have no illusions about the shoddy service in Buenos Aires, but the employees here were asses who seemed to deliberately move like snails, and wore expressions that said "I can't be bothered" the whole time. Worth a visit? At least in this city, there are other heladerias to try first.

We were served a variety of breads and a seasoned butter and was worth having. Kids devoured it, even when their menu warns you not to get filled with it as food promises. Everyone asked for a different dish and mine took me back to my childhood prior to 1990. Needless to say that we should repeat. I hesitated in ordering another dish since their food quality wasn't filling. It was quality versus quantity. Interestingly the dishes are metal so it keeps the food warm longer and each person got a container with cheese to self serve on your pasta. I hope I'm back, I hope you try them.

Various times of arrival with various orders and different drinks and desserts. This place takes reservation for such a large number of guests. This place is very convenient in terms of location and access to the main street Colonel Diaz, parking though private are in the immediate area or street parking if you are lucky enough. A taxi is always handy when you step out of the restaurant. I like the ambiance and family atmosphere; the restaurant looks mid-size from the outside but it is huge inside with lots of room and tables of multiple settings for 2 people, 4 or 6, etc. This place has a second floor for private parties and such. It is an enjoyable place to be with family and friends and enjoy a good afternoon over some delicious Italian food. Their menu is varied and the food is really, really good. You can pick anything on the menu and you will not go wrong. This place is that good. They also had some very healthy choices, look them up under LIGHT menu. I liked it so much that on our next trip we will go there for dinner...and lunch. I ordered the spinach crepe with basil/ tomato sauce..it was under the light menu. I had aqua sin gas to drink and the piece de resistance..was the heavenly tiramisu. Everything was perfect. I am a fan of good tiramisu and I never say "no" to a very good tiramisu. And this was the bomb!! It was heavenly..I had to just share with my hubby a portion of it..I think one of the best places to get quality mascarpone is Argentina,so they got this one right. The coffee infused cake was not soggy at all, the dusting of chocolate was not overpowering and to make it even eye pleasing there was a lattice of dark chocolate to top it. Il Gato on Beruti is definitely worth a next time.
