This QuikTrip is brand new construction and is less than half a mile from my work. It is very…read morebright, clean and well laid out. What distinguishes QuikTrip? Well first of all the check out registers are set up to operate from both sides, meaning that one person can handle two lines while folks are fumbling for change or entering pin numbers, etc. Instead of being distracting, this is highly efficient. Secondly, they really have brought the fast food, or snack food addition to the convenience store back into the forefront. I am reminded of a chain of convenience stores/gas stations in the Mid-west that was called the White Hen pantry. These stores had a full service deli, fresh cut meats and lunch deli sandwiches made to order. I had not thought that would be appealing, but at the time, I was a traveling salesman and the convenience combined with the appeal of healthier food (versus standard fast food) at the time was a great option. QT is similar. It is also very popular with the teenagers for the same reasons - decent food options, great beverage options (slushies, coffee and a variety of flavors) and it doesn't feel divey or like eating at a gas station. This is also a more appealing option than the gas stations with the Subway or McDonalds or other branded fast food because the options of choices are not limited to only that chain. For a quick lunch, two hotdogs for $2.69 isn't bad (maybe not the healthiest, but they are tasty)!

It still took 10 minutes to get a large steak and cheese and a medium hero sub, which along with 2 med drinks for $23.84 was on the expensive side to me. Customer service is the normal uninspired for the most part when you have teens and younger people that have to tolerate customers interrupting their conversations and mobile phone time ( maybe the franchise owner could take a lesson from Chick-fil-A's selection processes who always seem to be able to find smiling faces and outgoing personable people). It was not unfriendly, but not friendly either. I was trained and taught over 50 years ago that carrying on a conversation with co-workers while you're waiting on a customer was the epitome of rudeness and I maintained that philosophy in several retail businesses that I owned. Maybe times have changed to where it's considered acceptable to make a customer feel secondary instead of putting your personal conversation on hold while you're waiting on a customer. I'll have to say the subs are always very good every time I've been there and they've been tasty and the Coke Freestyle machine is a big bonus, but I think it's overpriced compared to some other places. It still has a ways to go to catch up with Monster Subs or my all-time favorite which is Publix Deli Subs which is the best value out there.. but at least they're MUCH better than Subway, where I haven't wasted any money there in many years. I do like the cookies and fudge brownies, most of the time when I stop there in the evenings they're running low or out of some of them which I can understand when you want to keep items fresh. I live very close to the location and pass there at least twice a day.
