It's less than 10 minutes north of I-185 and I-85 and about 5 minutes south down 25 (same road, just 3 miles away) from an older, but same generation, QT (store #1115) at 7840 White Horse Road. This is the highway that connects Greenville to Asheville. This QT and the QT up the road are nearly identical with the only major difference being this QT has 16 pumps versus 20 at the other. Aside from that, the gas station layouts are alike (single row) and the convenience stores are indistinguishable; outfitted with QT Kitchens, a bevy of food and drink options, and a polite, uniformed staff. The gas is Top Tier and the prices are very reasonable (it is South Carolina after all). We stopped by this QT on our way to Asheville from Atlanta. I filled up the tank and we grabbed some food for the road -- two hot dogs from the roller grill ($1.29 each plus $0.40 for chili cheese for one of the dogs), a pack of Lay's Sweet Southern Heat Barbecue potato chips (2.875 oz, $1.69), and a pack of sliced red apples (6 oz, $1.99). Everything was very affordable and the hot dogs were delicious. They hit the spot. The men's restroom was clean (enough). Check out the self-serve smoothie bar inside. They have 10 flavors including Kool-Aid flavors, Sun Drop soda, Cheerwine, various QTeas, house flavors, and a sugar-free flavor.

The employees could also use a lesson in customer service. One of the cashiers was eating chicken wings when I came in. I want to state for the record, that I am not usually someone who leaves reviews on past employers because I don't care much and I'm quick to move past them. But the overwhelmingly negative experience that I had with Spinx, before I was even able to start working with them, has left me in utter shock. It's left me angry enough that I feel compelled to speak about it. Originally I posted this on Glassdoor, but it was removed from there after failing to pass verification, so I decided to take it here to Google Reviews. It got deleted off of there as well, which is pretty audacious to me, so now I'm taking it here. I requested a simple reschedule of my orientation as I had forgotten to bring my ID with me, which even though was a mistake on my end, should have not been grounds for immediately terminating me from the system without second thought. While I was at the office, I was told by my trainer that they would get back to me on rescheduling for a later time. I was informed that they would not hold anything against me, and that it's a simple mistake that anyone could make. I received a text the next day during the afternoon that the training manager declined my reschedule "request" and that they were proceeding with other candidates. I was not told that my reschedule could potentially be denied, and that I'd be dropped entirely. This was after I had already recieved a job offer in my e-mail and had accepted it, which is a complete bait and switch on the company's part. There has never in my entire life been an instance where I have been instantly terminated by a company for a simple and trivial human error like this. I attempted to call HR's office to speak with someone to see if I could have this unfair decision negotiated, and much to my dismay nobody answered the phone. I left an emphatic and heartfelt voicemail, promising that I'd show up the next time with all of my necessary documents to proceed with my training and employment. Nobody ever called me back. I called the Spinx location I would have worked for and I informed my manager of what had happened. He was appalled at what I told him, and in full agreement with me that the decision that they made was completely unfair. Although he tried to vouch for me upon contacting human resources, he was told that they were unwilling to reverse their decision. No other employer that I have ever worked for has done something akin to this. If there was a time where I might have forgotten something, I was given the patience that everyone should have and allowed to fetch my documents as quick as I could and then come back either on the same day, or the next day. If I was ever in need of rescheduling something, I was able to without being lied to my face and then discarded. I simply cannot help but think that, if you as a company were this willing to turn down a candidate that you already extended a job offer to because of a simple mistake, it makes me wonder the sheer extent of nitpicking that would have happened had I gone through the orientation process and went through with my employment. All the while I was offered only $12 per hour, which in this current economy is abysmal, though I still would have taken it regardless because it would have been more income than I am making right now with Doordash doing deliveries. My advice? Cut this kind of cutthroat behavior out. It's not a good look.

If accessing this QT from I-185, you'd take exit 15 - US 25 (White Horse Road) - Travelers Rest. Ever since QTs started popping up along the I-85 corridor in South Carolina circa 2012, they've become regular stops for me on my drives between North Carolina and Georgia. Compared to other gas stations and convenience stores along the highway, QT is the best. Generally, the gas stations and convenience stores are bright and clean. They feel relatively safe, there are plenty of pumps with competitively-priced fuel, there's free air for your tires, there are a multitude of good food and drink options, the employees are friendly and polite, and the stores are open 24/7. Not much more you can ask for. The only downside is because of QT's popularity, it can get crowded. This station has 22 pumps. I filled up a few weeks ago for $2.499/gallon of 93 octane premium fuel. 89 octane plus was $2.249/gallon, 87 octane regular was $1.999/gallon, and diesel was $2.199/gallon. These prices, of course, beat any prices in North Carolina and Georgia. QT uses Top Tier gasoline. Inside the store, I purchased a large French vanilla frappe from the QT Kitchens counter for $2.99 plus tax. When you order made-to-order food and drink from QT Kitchens, you have to use a touchscreen to order. A receipt prints out which you take to the checkout counter to pay. You then return to the QT Kitchens counter to pick up your order. A lot of people don't seem to get this. The French vanilla frappe was delicious and refreshing. Before getting the frappe, I considered getting one of QT's teas. They have QT-brand teas both bottled in the fridge or brewed fresh, self-serve from the tea bar. They offer a variety of teas, both sweetened and unsweetened. They also had frozen cappuccino and frozen horchata. I sampled both and they were sweet and tasty. I would've been just as satisfied drinking them as my frappe. It's nice to have options. Also, people love the soft-serve ice cream here.
